I saw the Hibs fans singing Sunshine on Leith after beating Celtic yesterday. I was bawling my eyes out. That song makes me cry every single time. And it's a happy song!! What song gets you every time?

Nick Cave: Into My Arms

I don't believe in an interventionist God
But I know, darling, that you do
But if I did, I would kneel down and ask him
Not to intervene when it came to you
Will not to touch a hair on your head
Leave you as you are
If he felt he had to direct you
Then direct you into my arms
Into my arms, oh, Lord
Into my arms, oh, Lord
Into my arms, oh, Lord
Into my arms
And I don't believe in the existence of angels
But looking at you I wonder if that's true
But if I did, I would summon them together
And ask them to watch over you
Well, to each burn a candle for you
To make bright and clear your path
And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love
And guide you into my arms
Into my arms, oh, Lord
Into my arms, oh, Lord
Into my arms, oh, Lord
Into my arms
But I believe in love
And I know that you do too
And I believe in some kind of path
That we can walk down, me and you
So keep your candles burning
Make her journey bright and pure
That she'll keep returning
Always and evermore
Into my arms, oh, Lord
Into my arms, oh, Lord
Into my arms, oh, Lord
Into my arms

Beautiful song

My adult daughter has a lot of additional needs and can get into a rage and there are three songs which turn her anger into sobbing, almost immediately, so we have them on standby! They are:

Knocking on Heaven's Door, Bob Dylan
Mandy, Barry Mannilow
You've Got A Friend, Carole King

It is the sound, not the lyrics that works for her. She is indifferent to the James Taylor version of You've Got a Friend for example

About a 4 year old who died of cancer. Can't even start listening to it.

She added his mum to the rights for the song so she can continue to fundraise ❤️
Its so beautifully sad.

These (apart from one) don't make me cry exactly but they really hit my heart/make me goosebumpy):

The Drugs don't work- The Verve
That one indeed does make me cry and I can't listen to it

Drive- Incubus

Letters to you- Finch
("I want you to know that, I miss you, I miss you so" 💔)

It's been a while- Staind I think they were called

You'll never walk alone (I'm a Liverpool fan and hearing it at Anfield is something else)

Flowers and football tops- Glasvegas

Don't give up- Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush

Human- Human League

Life in a northern town- Dream Academy

Secret Lovers- Atlantic star

Falling- Julie Cruise (Twin Peaks theme, and how ironic that its February 24th!)

Love you better- The Maccabees

The Crystal Castles remix of Death by White Lies-
Love the original as well as WLs are one of my fave bands. Even though this version is very dancy the lyrics, the tune and the video are so haunting if you know what I mean. It was out around the time I moved to Manchester for uni, solo, and felt completely on my own

Getaway- Blossoms
I was going through a very hard time when that album came out and I played saod album on repeat. They're still one of my favourite bands and I love them fiercely! 😊

Right now it’s the hymn Be Thou My Vision

I know MN hates religion but it’s important to me.
My church was my safe space until recently. Until I was treated so brutally unkindly there back before Christmas. I still have my faith but Jesus and I are on our own journey right now. I am still attending but I am just sad.
Whatever befall, still be thou my vision…
I have to remain faithful despite the worst happening.

I wish you were here ❤️ even just for a moment. Just to say hello, till all my troubles go away. Just to chat a while x missing you dad x
