I saw the Hibs fans singing Sunshine on Leith after beating Celtic yesterday. I was bawling my eyes out. That song makes me cry every single time. And it's a happy song!! What song gets you every time?

Nan's Song by Robbie Williams. We played it at my granny's funeral.

Evergreen by Will Young. It was my uncle's favourite song and we played it at his funeral.

Part of Me by Cian Ducrot. It's about someone who took their own life and really hit me hard because I lost my best friend in the same way.

Who Knew by P!NK. I can't even tell you why - but it gets me every time!

Lost Without You by Freya Ridings. Her voice is absolutely stunning and just gives me chills.

After You’re Gone by the Proclaimers

it was featured in Ricky Gervais’ Afterlife and I sobbed. It’s on my funeral list

Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkle. I used to teach teenagers with life limiting illnesses and on Friday afternoons we used choose songs to sing along to. This was always the choice of one of the students who was very ill and who passed away before her 18th birthday. Hearing it always makes me think of those Friday afternoons and those young people singing along.

Yes it is an incredible song.

Better days are coming
Dermot Kennedy

I start chemo on Wednesday and I'm struggling to see " better days right now and my heart hurts because my hair is going to all fall out!

I was where you were just over a year ago but I didn't lose my hair it just went thin and meh. Treat yourself to a fabulous wig if you fancy going the way of the wig or get beautiful headscarves and chemo hats if you don't. There's so much good stuff out there these days, thankfully. I saw a lot of them in the cancer unit. Other than that I hope that you have as few of the nasty side effects as possible. It's tough, but you'll get through it and the nurses around you will be so lovely as may many of your fellow patients. I'm still going for immunotherapy but luckily that's a walk in the path. Big love to you and all good vibes and the best of wishes for the future. 💖💐💖

Nothing Breaks Like A Heart by Miley Cyrus - it reminds me of the night my DS was born, I heard for the first time just before going into hospital, and then had it on a loop in my head for the few days I spent in hospital afterwards.

On one of those days I also heard a poem read by Anton Lesser on bbc iplayer, which I worked out would have been on at the exact moment DS was born, and it was so beautiful it made me cry - I should really try and look up the old schedules to see if I can find which poem it was. I can’t remember the words but it brought a beautiful mental image of woodland animals in the stillness of a winter night, outside the dramatic scene that was happening in the hospital, with my little baby right at the centre of it all - makes me wish I could paint as it would make a lovely picture!
At the end of the last ever episode of Endeavour a couple of years ago there was a voiceover of Anton Lesser reading another poem, and the moment it came on I burst into absolute floods of tears - his voice must have brought back all the emotion of that time. I was crying so much I couldn’t speak for several minutes and DH was very alarmed, he didn’t have clue what had caused it 😅
