Decontamination shower.

I wonder if they’re drawing a bleach bath at Blair House ready for Starmer’s return so he can scrub the ick off himself after this.

Wait until after the state dinner with the Tate Bros

A bloody state invite from the King! We don’t want his orange nastiness anywhere near here thanks very much!

Such a shame that Janey isn't around to welcome His Orangeness in the appropriate manner.

Shome mishtake, Shirley? I suppose being King has gone to Charles's head, he could have just pleaded (pled?) that his cancer would take a turn for the worse if it were to be aggravated by the presence of the orange chimpanzee in the country.

InMySpareTime · 27/02/2025 18:37

Or that his oncologist has told him to avoid anything toxic...

Is this at all typical?
Something feels off.

Seems news from 20 mins ago, BBC saying Starmer presented Trump with an invitation from King.

Do we want to be sending this message out?

AgnesNaismith · 27/02/2025 18:39

Genuinely think Starmer smashed that interaction.

Yes he did, watching it live and the PM is brown nosing to the highest degree it’s skin crawling. I suspect he’s trying to play to Trump’s ego to get him to listen but it’s horrifying.

Igotjelly · 27/02/2025 18:40

And no not typical, think he would be the only president to get 2 state visits in this manner.

I said to DH last week that if the Orange Fart puts his trotters on U.K. soil again then I was going to be at the front of the protests.

Memories from the last time...

He has to - but he also publicly spoke about how close the relationship is, how they will work together on all counts knowing Trump can’t lose face.

pentangles · 27/02/2025 18:44

The fuck is wrong with charles?

Yes I agree he‘s likely had to hold his nose and suck up, doesn’t make it any more comfortable.

PerkingFaintly · 27/02/2025 18:45

Oh I thought they'd probably wheel out the King.

Plays to all Trump's egotism without giving away anything real.

It’s not him, State Visits are at the behest of the Government. The Monarch just has to play host.

Maybe KC has renegotiated the Sovereign Grant in exchange for rolling out the red carpet. I wonder if Camilla and Catherine will have sudden headaches that day week.

pentangles · 27/02/2025 18:48

What kind of message does this send to the uk electorate? It sounds like a very odd move. Oh the tabloids will cream themselves over this.

Probably a condition of Trump even agreeing to meet Starmer.

Much as I hate the fact that it 'has' to be done, I'm pretty certain the fine, upstanding citizens of U.K. won't disappoint and will welcome his Orangeness appropriately and he will be left in no doubt of our feelings for him...

Has anyone else listened to Kara Swisher on Musk? Interestingly (alarmingly), she thinks the reason he wants access to all this data is because he's losing the AI race and needs to mine it for content for his AI projects, with the bonus that he'll be accessing all the information held by the government about what his rivals are doing.

PerkingFaintly · 27/02/2025 18:50

Oh look, isn't he excited to have his little letter from the King, with his name on it and the King's name on it? So excited he has to show it to the cameras.

Thanks for taking one for the team, Yer Maj.

I worry that a good deal of Brits agree with at least Trump’s fundamental (lack of) principles.

Oh god! Do you think Leon will be Trump's 'plus 1' and not Melania?

I don’t think Melania will want to miss out on a chance to swan about in black tie and bling.
