None of this is positive for anyone, none of it!

It’s positive for women in sport, confused teenage girls who might have been offered damaging medication and surgery and women of all cultures and religions who want their spaces free from natal men so as to preserve their safety, privacy and dignity.

Trump is no feminist and cares not one jot women or people in general. Most of what he does is toxic. If only the Democrats hadn’t pushed the trans agenda. It’s so patently untrue and its effects on women so detrimental that their insistence on it destroyed many people’s confidence in them.

Trump would have gone for them regardless because Musk has a trans child which he is furious about.

And because he is a vicious old bastard who revels in performative cruelty

People with diagnosed psychiatric illnesses and many medical issues (including diabetes) are not allowed to serve in the military.
According to DSM5, gender dysphoria is a psychiatric illness.
So the ruling is bringing consistency where it was previously lacking.

Well people with clear and severe mental disorders are funning the government and the secretary of defence is an abusive alcoholic, so I think maybe standards are off the table?

I'm starting to think TDS should be renamed Trans Derangement Syndrome.

Kennedy paused a multimillion dollar project to create a new Covid-19 vaccine in pill form on Tuesday, and the Food and Drug Administration canceled an advisory committee meeting on updating next season’s flu vaccine.

Might be just me, but I think those in power don't give a hoot about women, trans rights, or anyone's rights for that matter.
I think they run obsessively about trans topics to divide the electorate.

So whilst we are looking that-a-way, they're screwing us over, that-a-way..

It's nothing but a distraction topic. I don't even think Trump or Farage give a shiny rat's ass about immigration, either.

Agitation+Fear=Manipulation.

Absolutely!
I have seen posts on MN supporting Reform and Trump because of the trans issue.
But even a stopped clock is right once a day....

I have concerns about women's safety and (some) trans ideology, but allowing the world to go to hell over one single issue is terrifying. And these are probably decent, intelligent mumsnetters, it's just baffling.

It is basically shutting one's eyes to climate change, diversity and progress, democracy and a lot of potential harm just because you agree with ONE single point out of 5 trillion despicable ones.

Edited

I can understand people who think that. I was tempted to vote Tory too but didn't.
But I am really really angry with the left - democrats, labour... with their holier than thou attitude but so ready to shove women under the bus. Just women.

So is that our choice?
The right wing where we are screwed OR the left wing where we are screwed??!

And for the greater good we are supposed to choose the left because we are docile angels?

How about the left try and sort out it's blatant misogyny?

The Trump administration confirmed it's reviewing whether to pull $590 million in funding that Moderna received in the final days of the Biden administration to develop an mRNA vaccine for bird flu in people

When Trump caught Covid back in 2020 he was pumped full of life-saving, somewhat experimental medicines (Regeneron?) that weren't available to the general population. Because... President.

I do wonder if all these (suddenly) vaccine-opposing republicans will refuse treatment when bird flu or whatever comes a-knocking at their door?

Or are they all secretly taking every vaccine or medication available? I don't need to answer that question do I?

I wonder how far Trump (&co.s) spite reaches ?

I can see them punishing countries and companies that offer the scientists that work on these vaccines work if they chose to leave the US. Which is what the Nazis would undoubtedly have done if they had been able to when all the Jewish and left-leaning intellectuals fled and gave their skills to the allies.

I think the entire concept of left and right wing has become toxic.
Our politics are media led. If the majority of your press is only focusing on one side of the Overton window, how can that be democratic?

I would prefer a government proportional to everyone, fully representative, with all parties working together. Not just the ones I approve of. Why we even tolerate this (barely democratic) system is beyond me. It is heaving with rancid culture politics and more energy gets spent on division than constructive solutions for all. We could still hold the government to task, with regular elections, but I can only see improvement in the west if we somehow find a way to ditch the 'football team' voting mentality.

There is always sortition. Completely incorruptible (which is why it will never happen).

In the scheme of things I think this is the least of our worries.

Keir Starmer has brought Donald Trump a present with a Scottish/Tartan element, according to Sky News.
Not sure that will do the trick. Shinzo Abe, the late former Japanese PM who was seen as the world leader who established the best relationship with Trump duing his first term, brought the president a gold golf club.

In the scheme of things I think this is the least of our worries.

When I visited the state museum in Baton Rouge a while back, they had a display of all the flags that had flow over Louisiana. The Union flag was upside down.

Then it was onto the San Jacinto museum in Texas, where they displayed a pocket knife that had been excavated from the battle site. As the display card noted, it likely belonged to someone of means called "Sheffield" as that was inscribed on the blade.

Starmer looks very red of face...although my TV is trying to balance him with tangerine bollocks, so...🍊

I wonder if they’re drawing a bleach bath at Blair House ready for Starmer’s return so he can scrub the ick off himself after this.
