Were you aware of Johnnie Boden’s affiliation with the hunt? Would it stop you from buying clothes from Boden?

I was sent this email this morning. I’ve just ordered from Boden, but I’ll be sending the dress back. Annoying, as it was a bargain in the sale, and is just what I wanted for my son’s wedding. I just couldn’t wear it though- now I know.

Would something like this stop you from buying from them?

Yes and it did.

TheReturnOfFeathersMcGraw · 03/02/2025 16:20

I would definitely bear this in mind when buying clothes yeah

Cattenberg · 03/02/2025 16:23

Yes it definitely would. To be fair, I’ve only ever bought one (expensive) item from Boden, which I never wore, so I might never have shopped there again anyway.

lots of clothing brands contribute to the death of actual humans maybe boycott all of them too

I try to. I spend a lot of time outside (I work outdoors), and sustainable clothing is easier to find for my lifestyle. I particularly like Findra, as they also have a repair service. I don’t buy clothes often, so I’m able to spend a bit more when I do.

I only ever buy dresses when there’s an occasion, but this one is going back.

Oh dear. That’s a PR disaster for them. Their women’s wear is not to my taste but I buy menswear as gifts. No longer.

treesandsun · 03/02/2025 17:24

Yes it does. I feel like I have to carry out full length investigations before I buy anything for one reason or another - it is a pain in the arse.

Yawningisinfectious · 03/02/2025 17:26

Yes it would definitely put me off buying from Boden.

I used to buy a lot when my children were little. I now have a grandson and will NEVER buy from them now I know this.

olympicsrock · 03/02/2025 17:30

No but it wouldn’t change my shopping . I don’t really buy Boden but I’m not anti hunting

FriendlyWerewolf · 03/02/2025 17:33

Nah, wouldn't put me off in the slightest.
Not that I buy a lot from Boden anyway.

iphone6 · 03/02/2025 17:35

I wasn’t aware, but it’s a free country, so I’ll continue to buy from Boden. I have never been hunting and never would FYI.

MiraculousLadybug · 03/02/2025 17:38

I think it's a big fuss about nothing.

namechangeGOT · 03/02/2025 17:39

I only ever bought my sons clothes from Boden because they womenswear is frumpy, bad quality and overpriced.

But, if I was after frumpy clothes at extortionate prices and then found out this then yes, I would stop buying from them and send anything new back because Hunts are for Cunts and I'm not scum.

Tonkall · 03/02/2025 17:40

It wouldn't put me off shopping at Boden at all. It's the clothes that put me off shopping at Boden.

WattleTyler · 03/02/2025 17:42

Thanks for this OP.

I had several hundred pounds worth of swimwear in my basket which I just deleted.

TheWonderstuff · 03/02/2025 17:44

I wouldnt buy their clothes anyway but being a hunt member wouldn't bother me. We hunted from kids, don't have an issue with it.

LoopyLoopyLoo · 03/02/2025 17:45

I thought Boden was aimed at frumpy country set people anyway...they love a good hunt!

Paininthederriere · 03/02/2025 17:48

Would have thought this is on brand for their aesthetic tbh. Country living, hunting, shooting & fishing etc. Not that I agree with it. Least they're authentic!

Sansan18 · 09/02/2025 09:59

I'm a long-term shopper with Boden and I really struggle with this. I wish they would make their position clear although it's staring us in the face really.

EveryKneeShallBow · 09/02/2025 10:03

I don’t buy from Biden, but it doesn’t bother me.

Onedaynotyet · 09/02/2025 10:06

I wasn't aware, and yes, now I am, I will not be buying from them again.

Thanks for the heads up.
