Anyone else awake?

Is so, why? I'm awake as my DH told me he wanted us to go our separate ways tonight and so I can't sleep. Have started a thread already so don't really want to bore everyone by going over it again.
Just wanted to chat.

Good old fashioned insomnia. I just went for a milky drink. How rock and roll!
Please try, little and often, even a biscuit.
I read your thread earlier.
MN is known for vipers but comes into its own at times like this. Keep typing and take the advice, even if it's just to keep your mind busy. x

Thanks. Yes there were some pretty nasty comments on there but also a couple of fantastic feisty replies to those comments from others defending me which so lovely!

I tried earing a biscuit earlier but could only take one bite. My stomach is rumbling but no appetite. Not conducive to sleep!

Chocolate digestives will keep you in energy if you can't eat properly from stress OP, they also pretty much dissolve to mush when dipped in a cup of hot chocolate so you needn't even chew them.

I'm awake with backache. Been rearranging a room.

Lennon80 · 02/02/2025 04:11

Third wake up for a wee - menopause is fun!!

so sorry! You must feel mind blown. Was there any issue leading up to this? An argument? If so it’s been said in the heat of the moment - if there hasn’t then I’d imagine there is someone else. Married men don’t walk unless they think they have somewhere to go.

Ooh. Painful. Are you not able to take any pain killers?

Poodles I do that too! Some you just can't put down and suddenly it's dawn

Lennon Meno makes you pee?! Seems like it's not just a cessation of reproducing ability it's an entire malfunction of the body, from what I keep reading 😲

Iron I've already taken the maximum

Up for a few reasons
Insomnia due to menopause
I’m a bit tipsy
DH was weirdly controlling towards me tonight and I can’t stop thinking about it
I want to punch the ‘dainty’ commenter on your other thread in the face
im a bit tipsy (kinda enjoying my little self)

Have you suffered with it all your life? How do you manage to stay awake during the day? Or are u someone that can manage on a few hours sleep?

Not all my life.it is a fairly recent thing following illness. I am retired and can sleep for hours during the day. I used to envy DH, who, as soon as he sat down would nod off. Now it is me, I sleep sitting up in a chair for a few hours. Sometimes twice a day.

The strange thing is, that I don’t really feel tired. I just sit down and then lose a couple of hours. I try to go to bed around 11 and then I become wide awake a 3.30 like clockwork. I usually doze off at 6 for a couple of hours
.

coldscottishmum · 02/02/2025 04:23

I’m sorry OP. I hope your ok.

im awake with pregnancy insomnia. I’m only 13 weeks so a long way to yet!

I'm the world's expert on easy to digest foods. I had my stomach removed (it saved my life so no sympathy required) and am on TPN.
Ice cream a little at a time, even a dessert spoon full can start tge process and soup, especially chicken (tomato is too acidic on an empty stomach) is a good bet. You absolutely won't feel like it but you need physical energy to be able to cope mentally.
Take the helpful advice, ignore the rest, including mine if it's not helpful.
You will get through this, I promise that, although I wish there was a shortcut in the time it takes, no matter how determined you are. x

Yes I wanted to punch her too! Just why do some people have to do it?. Just such a nasty piece of work.

What did he do then? Is he normally controlling?

I’m awake because we went to help today at my sons new home with something and his brother had a can of pop and his partner saw it on the ring door bell and text and I see * had one of my Pepsi Maxs with an angry emoji

Red flag 🚩 DS GF if she gets pissed off at his brother drinking a Pepsi Max Grin bit stingy

Thank you. Yes it's going to be such a waste of my energy trying to battle through it.

That's massive to have your stomach removed! I cant even imagine that. What's tpn? You sound like one tough cookie.

I'm sorry that so many are still awake at this time for so many different reasons. At the same time I'm so grateful for all your (mostly apart from the odd ones trying to stir the pot) supportive comments and just generally chatting as wvery bloody time I lie down, my heart starts pounding and I can't sleep.🙄
All I want to do is sleep to shut out the pain even though it'll all hit me again when I wake up.

I've been up all night listening to an Audible book to keep me company

Sorry OP re your predicament

I don't really have any advice to give and I'm sure you've been given loads already but once you get your head around it then try out some new things in your life

KittenPause · 02/02/2025 04:36

It might be worth seeing your GP to get some sedatives for a few days to help shut down a busy mind and help with sleep

Mom died on Friday.....

Virtual hugs, flowers and thoughts to all those suffering from/with anything that stops you sleeping.

Prob no consolation but at least you get some sleep. Apparently Margaret Thatcher got by on 4 hours a night. Mind you best not to get started on what a mess she caused.

I saw your other thread, op, I'm sorry. My dh said tonight that he can't see a future for us, but hasn't actually ended it, so I've been awake since 2am crying. We've always had a problematic relationship, we've found it tough having young dc and not enough money etc. He's also a binge drinker which has ruined lots of supposedly happy events and occasions which has made me unhappy over the years and oversensitive about him popping to the pub, and has made me hate the pub when previously I loved going out and having a drink and socialising. I was a real life and soul type- now I just sit on the sofa, so not surprising it's all ended up like this.

brassandswitch · 02/02/2025 04:41

Yes. Had a night out for a friends birthday, albeit I was home by 10pm as I can't hack it and I've woken up with the mighty old diarrhoea :)
