It's Southport all over again. Remember all the hysteria about how he was an asylum seeker from a small boat? This isn't coincidence either, this is intentional.

I'm not on X so I have no idea if the original post is still standing or if it's been community noted.

PandoraSox · 31/01/2025 19:44

@BIossomtoes did you have a good time with your friend?

Lovely, thank you. She’s watching the Hunger Games prequel so I’ve left her to it.

Had a look for you - yes a lot of it is still there - some of it has been community noted some not

"Today is the 5th anniversary of Brexit, the greatest democratic moment of our generation.

As a new MP in 2016, I made the difficult decision to defy the PM’s instructions and instead vote to the leave the EU. I did so because David Cameron was unable to negotiate ‘Fundamental Change’ as promised in the 2015 Manifesto. I’m grateful to Conservatives in Fareham who were passionate about sovereignty, immigration and restoring pride in our nation. They remain- with the good people of Waterlooville these days- my guiding star!

In 2018, I resigned from Theresa May’s government as a Brexit Minister because the Chequers deal was a Betrayal of the 17.4m.

And in 2019, I rebelled against the whip three times to vote against the Brexit Betrayal deal. I’m proud to be a Spartan.

Today is not only a day of celebration but also a day to recognise that the job is not finished - in fact it’s under threat.

The establishment have never, and will never accept the result of the referendum, and this Labour government are trying to undo it bit by bit.

Brexit presents the biggest opportunity for our wonderful nation and the job must be completed by leaving the ECHR, scrapping The Human Rights Act and lowering overall migration, for starters.

It’s time to Make Brexit Great Again."

Bravermans latest FB post. She's actually advocating outright to scrap the Human Rights act. This woman is in charge of my constituency. I can't wait until til she next tries to stop me on the street to get my vote.

She thought the last time was bad enough Wink

Good grief.

Notonthestairs · 31/01/2025 20:50

Braverman is out of touch. I don't think even Farage pretends any more that Brexit has been worth the time, energy and lost GDP.

He needs non Brexiteers to vote Reform if he has any hope of growing the party.

Family of deceased female helicopter crew don't want her name published. (Apparently this is unusual) So the ghouls/trans hunters have filled in the blanks and decided it must be because she was transgender. They then decided to name a transgender helicopter pilot as the person in question. Wrong person named. That wrongly named pilot has made a video showing that they are very much alive and weren't on the helicopter. But they are transgender.

Edited

Some people are (sorry, not sorry but it has to be said) just plain thick. Malicious and thick. Disrespectful to both the family of the deceased pilot and the pilot they tried to blame.

Yes, mother and son. They’re asleep on my lap now, I’m just a heated cushion!

There’s a new Jack Russell at the dogs’ home called Enzo. I’m looking forward to making his acquaintance.

PickAChew · 31/01/2025 22:48

My parents' elderly rescue dog is a JRT, chihuahua (and probably other things) cross. Barrel shaped with a sticky uppy ear and a floppy one. Sadly he's blind, deaf, senile and arthritic and not likely to be around much longer.

Last leg is wonderfully chaotic, tonight, with Brian Cox having used the C bomb in reference to the fart 3 times, now. He's out-Miriammed Miriam.

cardibach · 31/01/2025 22:51

I’ve been out with DD for a delicious curry but I’ll catch up with The Last Leg tomorrow then!

His reaction to Farage was funny too

I hadn't seen that Newsnight clip before, wtf

I know the FWR board isn’t universally liked on here, but the regulars there have been through a period of being targeted for deletion for the tiniest things that wouldn’t even be noticed, let alone reported, on other boards. So let’s take a leaf out of their book and just try to ignore the bad faith participants on here, so the latter are given absolutely no ammunition.
I would like more clarification on the Stern Warning, but not necessarily from a particular MNHQer. It’s their job, they are not a poster on this board and presumably when they act on a report they deal with it then move onto the next report. If someone is tenacious enough to keep banging on at them about minor transgressions (talking about other threads etc) then they have to act on it and no individual MNHQer deserves singling out for that - they are just applying the Talk Guidelines when evidence is presented to them.
We have our own takes on the political news of the day, so we don’t need to reference other threads at all. It’s unfair that this standard isn’t upheld across all the threads/boards but meh….their site.
Nothing frots a bad faith reporter more than seeing a deletion message, so let’s not give the darlings that satisfaction.

Oops I didn't realise there were more pages beyond the one comment I replied to. That's what you get for coming back to MN and not refreshing!

I've given up on the Trump theory thread. Only one poster out of the hundreds had any interest in air safety. All the rest were obsessing over skin colour and grades. The messaging is clear.

In the meantime, I think I'll stay on the ground, thank you.

In future pilots won't be required to produce their credentials, but their family tree.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 01/02/2025 09:57

Did anyone see the NTSB press update yesterday? (It's on the BBC)
An object lesson in how Trump should have dealt with the US plane crash.

It's a depressing thread for sure

And all the furore around Trump's 'interventions' has really detracted from the poor victims and their families - apparently they are going to try and remove the fuselage from the water today where the remaining victims bodies are thought to be trapped

Really hope they are successful

SerendipityJane · 01/02/2025 10:25

And what everyone should be concerned about, which is air safety.

How many planes will need to crash before anyone cares ? Because one doesn't seem to be enough.

Remember Boeing are (were ?) still on the hook for a series of 737Max crashes.

I seriously would consider if my flight is necessary if I lived in the US. Remember Janes Law. Anytime a mistake is found, there will be others waiting to be found. It's axiomatic (and the basis of air crash investigation).

Piggywaspushed · 01/02/2025 10:55

Lucy Easthope wrote a brilliant, compassionate book about investigating disasters which I recommend reading. She is still on Twitter so I may pop over to see if she is a light in the darkness but will have to wade through the filth first.

countrygirl99 · 01/02/2025 10:57

I second recommending the Lucy Easthope book. Much admired on the 50 books threads.

BestIsWest · 01/02/2025 11:02

A third for Lucy Easthope’s book.

She is on Bluesky as Lucygobag

Zonder · 01/02/2025 11:14

What's going on with planes in the US? That's so sad.

PandoraSox · 01/02/2025 11:17

It's awful.

I see the press is full of rumours about cuts to disability benefits. I wish they would wait until the actual green paper is published.

Maybe Labour is testing the water?

Sadly, I think there will be a lot of support for cuts. Or maybe it is just on MN that there is a lot of hostility towards disabled people?
