So you're dead

So you're sadly dead, you got hit by a bus, which was unfortunately on time for a fucking change, what song would you want at your funeral?

I think I'd want Little Wonders by Rob Thomas. I like to think I'd have something really funny and inappropriate but realistically some of my family would not find that funny.

Oh my god, that’s horrific! I don’t even know what to say, I am so sorry this happened to you. I’m sorry, I’m so shocked to read this, that’s truly awful. You’re a very strong person to have carried on, I cannot begin to imagine how difficult this has been, I’m so sorry.

Hard to believe what some people are capable of. Hope he rots in prison.

I really don't want a funeral at all

WellsAndThistles · 21/01/2025 23:45

Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars as it does have a special meaning.

I would also be tempted with something ironic to amuse my dry sense of humour and give everyone a wee laugh before they leave my cremation e.g

Meat Loaf - Bat out of hell
Queen - Don't stop me now
Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire

MarkingBad · 21/01/2025 23:46

The Galaxy Song - Eric Idle for a laugh

All Through The Night - Traditional song

You don't have to do direct cremation

BaronessBomburst · 21/01/2025 23:48

Free if We Want It - Nothing But Thieves
Like a Stone - Audioslave

Undrugged · 21/01/2025 23:49

I’d want a medley of songs sung by the choir I sing in plus whatever my kids chose: maybe ‘it’s a living thing’ by ELO for the incongruity and because we listen to this on road trips.

Differentstarts · 21/01/2025 23:50

Benson Boone- In the stars
And maybe ding dong the witch is dead to cheer everyone up and make them laugh

So do I. I genuinely didn’t expect to read anything like this, I can’t believe what people can do. I cannot begin to imagine what that has done to you, physically, mentally and emotionally. I hope he never sees the light of day again. X

I’m having Remember Me by Christy Hennessy

Beauty in the world by Macy Gray. ☺️

But would you accept that your time to go had now come and leave with dignity... or would you be like Macy? Grin

DalzielOrNoDalzielAndDontPascoe · 21/01/2025 23:54

Definitely not The Wheels On The Bus!

Great thread - want to have a think about it now.

LittleLegoTree · 21/01/2025 23:55

Nimrod as I depart, Let There Be Love by Oasis as everyone else does.

They still play songs for direct cremations, they ask what they would have liked if it's not stated on the form

Onacuctustree · 21/01/2025 23:56

I asked my children...
Heaven knows I'm miserable now.

Absolutely spot on.
