It wasn't me who reported either. Although I will add that sometimes on these threads you do talk about other threads you've been on and about the posters on them and though no names are mentioned, by what you are saying it doesn't take a genius to work out who you're referring to. Perhaps that is the issue!

DuncinToffee · 29/01/2025 17:52

That happens on lots of threads though budgie

That why it would be good to get clarification from @LilyMumsnet

But no posts have been deleted recently? Or hadn't been when I had a look earlier.

Eta: one of my posts was deleted. A screenshot of a post insulting us with identifying details removed. But that was a while ago I think. Maybe a week ago.

Evening all!

As you are all aware as the parent of a swimmer I'm out from 4.30am until 7.30pm every day except Wednesday I do read this thread inbetween and although I may not always comment I find myself nodding in agreement or disagreeing but more importantly I enjoy the sharing of views and the links.

I was equally surprised at MNHQ post as I'd not read anything I felt suspicious or even close to the line.

What a relief to find everyone else is just as perplexed - and I agree we need clarification of what exactly has been breaking the rules.

As for the budget I probably wasn't as horrified at some of Reeves policies as others so when I found out the very original stereotypical one nation Tory's actually endorsed parts of it it didn't surprise me.
But everyone knows I'm generally quite centric with some sway left and some right.

I feel I should probably be offended at being lumped in as a pure lefty - especially as accusing someone of being RW is apparently not on 🧐😂

This is awkward.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c86375y545yo

HMS Agincourt was supposed to be the name.
It's now HMS Achilles

King Charles was involved in a decision to change the name of a new royal submarine from HMS Agincourt to HMS Achilles, a move that was branded "woke nonsense" by former defence secretary Grant Shapps, the BBC has been told.

The move was also called "woke" and "pathetic" by another former Tory defence minister, Sir Gavin Williamson. It's not clear whether Sir Gavin or Shapps were aware that King Charles supported efforts to find another name.

Sometimes it's best to wait till the facts come out before jumping to conclusions.

It's almost worth starting a thread on this to see how people react to the name change before mentioning the King's involvement..

HMS Achilles

King involved in 'woke' name change of HMS Agincourt submarine

The name was changed to HMS Achilles reportedly over concerns that the original may have offended the French.

But I suspect media outlets who said it was "Labour woke nonsense" aren't going to report this, are they?

Grant Shapps having a problem with name changes?

Agree it happens on lots of different kinds of threads - not just political ones

And I've never seen MNHQ post an admonishment before unless it's a clear TAAT

Exactly. So @LilyMumsnet will you please come back and clarify?

DuncinToffee · 29/01/2025 19:50

And so it starts

Father Calvin Robinson finished his remarks at the National Pro-Life Summit by throwing an Elon Musk salute, much to the delight of the crowd.

Oh, for crying out loud.

PandoraSox · 29/01/2025 20:30

What a stupid man. Pathetic attention seeking idiot.

Why give him attention then?

derxa · 29/01/2025 21:06

Commenting on him within the confines of a thread he will never read is hardly giving him attention.🙄

DuncinToffee · 29/01/2025 21:20

Why give him attention?

To call out his behaviour and pointing out where excusing Musk's gesture can lead to.

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 29/01/2025 21:33

It's not giving Robinson attention. It's giving attention to the consequences of Musk's actions.

Notonthestairs · 29/01/2025 21:35

Yep, the point is that all the hangers on will be mimicking Musk in order to curry favour. Presumably at some point there will be audiences responding in kind.

Llttledrummergirl · 29/01/2025 21:58

Blimey, I've been out all day at a funeral, @LilyMumsnet what has happened that brought on the warning?
It's actually disconcerting that you haven't replied in the 6hrs since you posted.

@itsgettingweird how is the training going? Dds training is going well.

itsgettingweird · 30/01/2025 04:30

Littledrummer

Sorry to hear you had a funeral - hope service went how it was wanted.

Ds training is going well! Counties this weekend and then a hard batch of training before champs in April. He's a freestyler. What does your DD swim?

Efacsen · 30/01/2025 08:14

Dreadful air accident in DC

And such adverse conditions for rescuing survivors - both aircraft underwater and freezing weather

DuncinToffee · 30/01/2025 08:21

I just heard that on the radio Sad

dontcallmelen · 30/01/2025 08:22

DuncinToffee · 30/01/2025 08:23

The Angelican Catholic church has revoked Calvin Robinson's licence after that gesture action

She's not a swimmer, different sport, but still hard training. She's had a few comps lately and doing well, so it shows that the training is paying off. Sorry don't want to give the sport as I don't want to out her, but I'm very proud of her (as you can tell). Grin

Good luck to your ds in the comps.
