OxyContin wasn't pushed by Colombians.

DuncinToffee · 27/01/2025 11:41

I spotted this the other day

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ceq97nvjv0wo

Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family who controlled it have agreed to pay up to $7.4bn (£6bn) to settle claims regarding its powerful prescription painkiller OxyContin.

Opioids really aren’t just a Colombian thing.

Much more a British thing, really. Certainly if you were to ask the Chinese.

DuncinToffee · 27/01/2025 11:43

Colombia's concern was about how the people on the deportation flight were treated by being in shackles.

The opioid issue in the US is very much a home grown problem.

But admittedly one of their more successful exports.

countrygirl99 · 27/01/2025 11:50

Perhaps we should slap a tariff on it

Behind paywall but hormone pumped beef and pork is back in the US-UK trade talks

Among the top priorities for the White House to expand US exports to the UK, Broadman singled out “beef and pork, Liquid Natural Gas, automobiles, machinery and pharmaceuticals”.

He added: “The NHS has long been on ‘the list’.”

Twenty More Government Reforms the Media Hasn’t Been Telling You About

https://bylinetimes.com/2025/01/24/what-the-government-has-been-doing/

Thank you. I’ve just shamelessly stolen the link, I hope you don’t mind.

ilovesooty · 27/01/2025 12:26

And now we have a thread suggesting that the UK would be keen to become part of the USA as there's so much support here for Trump. It's just fucking unbelievable. But apparently I'm a liar and a gaslighter, so what would I know? 😡😡

Don't worry. We'd have to give up the Royals and accept the second amendment.

BIWI · 27/01/2025 12:33

Thanks for that link @DuncinToffee

Even though I read The Guardian every day - presumably one of the MSM titles most likely to support TLP, I only knew about 6 of those. And I was unsure about one of them Shock

countrygirl99 · 27/01/2025 12:35

Becoming part of the US would have me on a small boat heading for Calais!

Government may have a whole new "stop the boats" agenda 😂

DuncinToffee · 27/01/2025 12:55

I saw that @ilovesooty , shame they couldn't back up their claim Grin

More weird stuff

"Is the PM proud of our role at the Battle of Agincourt?"

An absolutely genuine question put to Keir Starmer's spokesman at the morning lobby briefing just now

Colombian coffee might be better Grin

But then the the official communique said Columbia, so who knows

I hadn't drunk my usual coffee, yet. It took me long enough to type a vaguely coherent post 🤣

Spandauer · 27/01/2025 13:08

"Is the PM proud of our role at the Battle of Agincourt?"

lolled at this in the replies...

I’ve a feeling we are being gaslit but it isn’t by you.

I know we aren’t supposed to accuse people of being bots, but my theory is there are a lot of Musk/Tate fanboys posting. I was out at a local heritage centre this morning and they had a small display about the Holocaust aimed at children and one of the points was that for genocide to occur ordinary people had to believe propaganda.
