Overnight oats...

It is just a case of adding oats, milk and chia seeds and sticking in fridge?

Are there nice recipes? Talk to me

Little pinch of cinnamon works too

Sparxdislike · 17/01/2025 20:24

I use oats, chia seeds, milk, sprinkle of cinnamon on top and mix (you can sweeten with honey or another sweetener of choice), I then top with frozen fruit. I change between summer berries and mango, papaya etc. I sometimes add chopped apple. I screw a lid on and leave overnight. I always top with some Greek yogurt the following day.

Lots of recipes online. Some people like to add protein powder and top with nuts and seeds.

I hated it. Wanted to like it but chewy oats with a sour yoghurt flavour wasn’t for me.

You don't even need the chia seeds. Blueberries or raisins are a nice addition.

unlikelychump · 17/01/2025 20:27

I literally add some water to a small jar of oats just before I set off for work and then I stir it and eat it when I get to work. It is lovely. I don't add anything else. CBA and don't feel the need.

FeyreandRhysand · 17/01/2025 20:29

I just do oats, natural Greek yogurt and some berries, but you need to mix it all in otherwise your oats will still be crunchy in the morning.

cluefu · 17/01/2025 20:29

I'm sure I've done them with apple juice in the past and that was also nice 🙂

Acc0untant · 17/01/2025 20:30

I do oats, oat milk and a bit of vanilla extract.

TheBoysAndTheBallet · 17/01/2025 20:30

There are no nice recipes OP. Just have lovely warm porridge in the morning.

doggydesperado · 17/01/2025 20:31

Oh some
Great ideas here ... I'm going to make some now for my breakfast tomorrow. I might go daft and add some biscoff 😃

I like oats mixed with lemon yoghurt, then I add grapes/pineapple/ peaches in the morning.

How can anyone describe plain oats and water as lovely.

Overnight oats can be nice, with the right things added but plain with water, no thanks.

DancefloorAcrobatics · 17/01/2025 20:33

I do oats and rasp an apple or pear into it then some lemon juice, water, honey and plain/ Greek yoghurt.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 17/01/2025 20:33

realfood.tesco.com/recipes/carrot-cake-overnight-oats.html These are my favourite 😍

blibblibs · 17/01/2025 20:34

I always do my overnight oats with unsweetened almond milk. Then add whatever fruit I have in the morning. Blueberries are my favourite but stewed apple and cinnamon is nice in the winter and finely chopped dates & pecans is good too.

bakewellbride · 17/01/2025 20:34

My favourite:
Porridge oats
Oat milk
Peanut butter
Berries
Mashed up banana
Chia seeds
Pinch of cinnamon

So good! Can also add yoghurt too.

soupfiend · 17/01/2025 20:35

I have to have a warm breakfast, so you could warm your overnight oats up in the microwave. Personally I batch cook slow cooked porridge and warm it up each morning. Pinhead oatmeal with full fat milk.

Bimblesalong · 17/01/2025 20:35

I do overnight oats and add Greek yogurt, a small amount of good honey, vanilla or cinnamon and fruit the next day. I’ve just made some granola and keep that in a tub to sprinkle on top of the oats for added crunch.

We have a few different pouches of frozen fruit in the freezer so I use this in the mix the night before sometimes. Ds likes his with peanut butter!

Saschka · 17/01/2025 20:35

Oats, frozen raspberries, dried apricot cubes, splash of maple syrup, milk. DS seems to like it anyway (he eats porridge with frozen raspberries and maple syrup in winter).

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 17/01/2025 20:36

DS' favourite is a mashed banana, a spoon of nut butter, oats, milk and cinnamon, if I have any stewed apple I put that in too (mil has apple trees so I do a big batch and freeze in ice cubes).
He also loves the same as above but with Greek yoghurt and strawberries on top instead of the apple and cinnamon.
In a jar, in the fridge over night.

I prefer my oats hot

Allthesnowallthetime · 17/01/2025 20:36

I like it made with 15g oats, 100g natural yoghurt, 100g frozen berries and 20ml milk.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 17/01/2025 20:38

I do oats, milk, chia seeds, chopped apple, and cinnamon. Flipping gorgeous. Even DD (fussy bugger) hoovers it up.

Peanut butter, cocoa and honey is a kids favourite. Also we went to Zurich a few years ago and they have bircher museli which is oats, grated apple, chip seeds and honey
