It is just a case of adding oats, milk and chia seeds and sticking in fridge?

Are there nice recipes? Talk to me

I use 50 grams of oats to keep me full. Everyone is different though :)

Natsku · 18/01/2025 09:33

I used to do a mix of milk and greek yoghurt, frozen berries, and chocolate chips. It was pretty nice.

I prefer yoghurt to milk

I do oats, frozen berries, Greek yoghurt and some kefir with chia seeds and cacao nibs. Make a big bowl and eat it over 3-4 days.

I use meusli rather than plain oats. I like the nutty ones. I’m another fan of Greek yoghurt and frozen fruit. If I use blueberries and raspberries it’d also a good source of fibre.

I do 40g oats, 200g skyr, a dash of almond milk, chia seeds and whatever fruit I have, at the moment it's strawberries, blueberries, grapes, apple and a banana. I don't use milk as I hate the texture. It's lovely!

I wanted to like overnight oats but didn't
My compromise is 50g of Jordan's no added sugar granola triple nut. The main ingredient is oats anyway so I soak in milk overnight then add a spoonful of Greek yogurt.
I love nuts

A bit of history and a really good and easy recipe - the original is often the best: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2014/oct/23/how-to-make-perfect-bircher-muesli-recipe?CMP=ShareiOSAppp_Other

Why would anyone eat raw oats 🤢?
I soak my oats overnight in whole milk then I cook them in the morning, adding some water, raisins, hazlenuts and linseeds, result = lovely silky porridge.

I love them. I'd always take them over cooked porridge.

Oats then double that amount with liquid - I like kefir yoghurt with a little milk
Grated apple
Sprinkle of cinnamon
handful of chia seeds
Dried cranberries and yellow sultanas
Squeeze of lemon juice

In the morning, scoop out a serving, loosen with a little more liquid (milk, kefir or apple juice), add chopped fruit, mango is my favourite but berries are good, add nuts or seeds to taste.

I agree with @CaraCameleon about the organic Jordan's oats being far and away the best ones.

Because they’re very tasty and supposedly really good for you uncooked, that’s why. 😄
I really have to try it with linseed/flaxseed - do you use brown or golden ones?

I make my own kefir, so my overnight oats consist of about 200ml of kefir, 15g (rye) oats and 1 tbsp of chia seeds. Chia makes it more gloopy, which I like.

I use one of those Kilmer breakfast dishes, they’re handy since come with a measuring scale for the 200ml - in the morning I chop and mix in any fruit I have handy. Pear, peach, apple…also grapes are nice.

Only recently I got into frozen fruit too, I love frozen mango, cherries and blueberries from Aldi/Lidl mixed in.

Anyone tried flaxseed instead of chia?

Oh. It was meant to be 45g, not 15g! That would be a quite liquid affair with only 15g of oats… 🙃

I use milled golden linseed/flaxseed. I found the whole seed went through me!
