How clean and tidy is your house....

....right now after the mania of Christmas?

1.You would need years of exposure to prepare your immune system to survive a visit. Could possibly feature on a TV show about cleaning.

2.Very messy but surfaces (kitchen and bathroom) have been regularly cleaned. You wouldn't want visitors but it isn't a danger to health.

3.Pretty much back to normal, a few Christmas bits are still hanging around but they will be gone in the next few days once the normal routine kicks in. Kitchen and bathroom surfaces are spotless and you wouldn't die of embarrassment if someone called in unexpectedly.

4.You could perform open heart surgery on your kitchen floor. The house is spotless and there is absolutely no sign that Christmas ever happened. Visitors are in awe of your skills as a domestic Goddess/God.

I think I am number 3, will aim to get closer to 4 next week (it won't happen!)

The second one but you've numbered them all with 1.

2, at the moment. Hoping for 3 after we've taken all the decs down this evening and our amazing cleaners have been tomorrow!

MassiveSalad22 · 05/01/2025 11:24

Between 3 and 4. No Christmas stuff but I am never at a pristine 4! V clean and tidy this morning though.

ForLovingAquaSheep · 05/01/2025 11:24

Closer to 4 in that Xmas was killed on 27th and there's not been a trace since. Completely back to normal.

I love the build up and Xmas day but once all the presents have gone and the day is done the decs are a sad reminder of the countdown to the return to work.

GetyourheadoutoftheovenIris · 05/01/2025 11:25

Between 2 and 3. It would take ten minutes to get tidy but I’m not worried about visitors.

Upstartled · 05/01/2025 11:26

Right now 😬 A lot worse than it'll be this time tomorrow but the phase shovelling snow in a blizzard comes to mind.

Thecomfortador · 05/01/2025 11:26

1-2 . I'm sitting staring at it thinking it's time to start the clean up.

festivemouse · 05/01/2025 11:27

Obviously a 4. Is it the OCD or is it simply magic? No one will ever know.

Breathmiller · 05/01/2025 11:27

I'm a 3. Having a normal Sunday cleaning session before the week starts but to be honest, I'm not sure I'm ever or will ever be a 4.

midgetastic · 05/01/2025 11:27

Decorations still up by the house is basically clean and tidy ? Why does one exclude the other ?

LIZS · 05/01/2025 11:28

3/2. My normal 3 is another's 2!

Watermelon500 · 05/01/2025 11:30

Def a 2, hoping for a 3 by the end of today ready for back to work. Not sure I have ever achieved a 4 after having children

itsgettingweird · 05/01/2025 11:30

But mines always at 3.

I live here but have a life so it's never at the clean doesn't like look anyone has breathed in here but could do surgery stage!

There's currently stuff drying in the draining board and dishes soaking. But worktops and floor are clean.

Bathroom is clean and all floors are hoovered.

Table is clean and wiped down but has my book, to do list and a bottle of water sat on it.

2 baskets of washing that need to go away are on the dining room floor and the airer is full of washing I'm (trying!) to dry!

All surfaces were dusted last week when I out Xmas stuff away and could probably do with a once over - but aren't visibly dusty - but I'm going out in half an hour and won't be back until dinner time and then the kitchen stuff will be sorted as I cook.

It's actually probably in a better state than a normal day because I had a spring clean before putting up decks and after taking everything down and I don't go back to work until tomorrow!

despairnow · 05/01/2025 11:30

3or4 house is clean there are a few chosen Christmassy bits around like extra snacks, lights

No33 · 05/01/2025 11:31

Definitely a 2! I have an essay to write too, so unlikely to be sorted any time soon 😞 🤣

WhiteRosesAndThistles · 05/01/2025 11:32

Looks like most people are on top of everything!

Between 3 and 4 but I do not have small children.

We took down 2 Christmas trees, 3 wreaths, an outside garland and lights. From boxes out of loft to back in to loft took 2 hours yesterday but that was 3 adults. We are lazy buggers that love leisure time and that makes us efficient.

Chasingsquirrels · 05/01/2025 11:33

3.Pretty much back to normal, a few Christmas bits are still hanging around but they will be gone in the next few days once the normal routine kicks in. Kitchen and bathroom surfaces are spotless relatively okay and you wouldn't die of embarrassment if someone called in unexpectedly.

TheChosenTwo · 05/01/2025 11:34

Well it was totally free from all signs of Christmas by Boxing Day and tidy because we went away on holiday on the Friday. Our cleaner was supposed to come while we were away but her mum sadly died so obviously she’s off for a few weeks now. We got back late Friday night and there is a lot of stuff in places it shouldn’t be! Yesterday was a bit of a write off as we all had pre-existing plans and my own mum ended up in hospital while we were away so chaos has sort of ensued.
Today is our reset day, I’ve written a huge tick list in my notes and dh is already bustling about downstairs - I’m determined to get on top of everything today, I can’t live in chaos!!

MatchyMatchyGlasses · 05/01/2025 11:35

It’s spotless. It always is.

(I’m a natural slob but hate living in a disarrayed space, so need to make a point of keeping a very clean house or else I slip into poor habits)

Edited to add: but it’s still Christmas! My decorations are up.

fiorentina · 05/01/2025 11:35

Always 3-4, otherwise I can’t relax!

Chocolately · 05/01/2025 11:36

3, but have a basket full of ironing I am currently ignoring. Will only take half an hour once I start though.

K0OLA1D · 05/01/2025 11:37

Between 3 and 4 too. I have 4 cats, a dog and 2 kids who don't clean up after themselves so I don't think I'd ever peform surgery on my kitchen floor!
