DH and still really enjoying “Christmas” but I’m quite done with ham, cheese and pigs and blanket flavoured crisps!!!

What’s on the menu for everyone for tonight?

Either dhal, or bangbang cauliflower/tofu haven't decided yet

beguilingeyes · 03/01/2025 14:33

Friday night is pie (ideally Morrison's steak and kidney) and chips night.
I'm really bored with cooking at the moment. It's so relentless I can't bear it. I'd have beans on toast forever if I could.

Left over duck from New Year’s Eve, turned into duck ragu, on pasta.

DH is making a korma with rice, naans, and some dips! He's found a fish recipe so I think he's going for either cod or prawns. Possibly both!

I'm doing a bit of a homemade curry night.

I've got chicken marinading to put in skewers later with pepper and onions to do a tandoori / shashlik type of thing. Also making a raita and a sort of saag aloo. I've bought naan as I don't know how to make that

Cottage pie ready meal

katmarie · 03/01/2025 14:38

Ham Prawn and pea risotto (it does have some parmesan in it though, so not entirely without cheese.)

ThejoyofNC · 03/01/2025 14:40

Chicken curry rice and naan. I buy loads of fresh naans when I go to the Asian supermarket and freeze them because they're delicious. Ooh just remembered I have some of the discs for poppadoms in the cupboard that you fry yourself too so I'll definitely do some of those.

MiddleAgedDread · 03/01/2025 14:45

BF is cooking so it’ll probably involve broccoli! Apparently we’re having a post Xmas night of “normality”

slightlydistrac · 03/01/2025 14:45

Fish & chips. DH will get some Aldi frozen fish portions when he's out later, and we already have chips & peas in the freezer. Might throw a few tomatoes in some olive oil and bake them in the oven while the fish is doing as well.

tuna, lemon and tarragon gnocchi… quick, simple and utterly delicious. A family favourite for a super easy Friday night meal, and a pleasant and light change from all the excessive eating over Christmas.

Fish sandwich (brioche buns) with avocado, salsa and Mexican slaw. Chips: if I find some boiled potatoes lurking in the fridge.
Baked plums in cinnamon syrup with leftover mascarpone.
