DH and still really enjoying “Christmas” but I’m quite done with ham, cheese and pigs and blanket flavoured crisps!!!

What’s on the menu for everyone for tonight?

Homemade chicken kebabs with rice and salad

CurlewKate · 03/01/2025 17:31

We're having spicy sweet potato soup from my new soup cookery book and sandwiches made from leftover steak from last night. Really looking forward to it.

Same here, we're all Christmas fooded out, as lovely as it was. After an intimittent fast, I'm going to have chilli and rice. Looking forward to it! We're trying to get back to normal eating now.

worriedgal · 03/01/2025 17:33

Leftovers pie topped with puff pastry with mashed potatoes and shredded sprouts .

Mouseylu · 03/01/2025 17:35

Dh and dd1 homemade fish pie. Me and dd2 steak and chips.

DilemmaDelilah · 03/01/2025 19:19

No inspiration here. We had cold turkey (had been frozen) cold sausages, mash and pickle.

Tomorrow will be spaghetti bolognese, made before Christmas and frozen. I'm poorly and DH has been doing all the work.

Thanks everyone, we went for beef Ragu in the end with papperdelle and garlic bread. It’s been cooking for about 4 hours and smells delicious.

Lots of lovely suggestions to take into the new year, so thank you.

We are both poorly, had left over lamb made into a quick ragu with garlic bread and salad.

Tomorrow will be freezer lucky dip. Probably fish finger tacos....

Anjo2011 · 03/01/2025 20:13

Katsu curry, it was delicious.

GiddyRobin · 03/01/2025 21:25

I'm ashamed to say I've never had Katsu curry. I know I could Google a recipe, but does anyone have a tried and tested one that they love? Might try it on Sunday! We don't eat meat but can adjust to fish/veggie so any recipe works!

It is a very bland curry imo, and just not that flavoursome. It isn't a recipe fault either; it is just the way it is supposed to be. I was disappointed!

We actually had this but used pumpkin Curry and it was really good tasted like it had been slowly cooked for hours

That looks amazing, I'm going to give that a try. Thanks for posting!

Randomontheinternet25 · 03/01/2025 22:37

Honestly I'm really impressed with it! @SleeplikeababyTonight I also agree about katsu Its just thick sauce without a great taste ( obviously opinions differ) I had it several times out of politeness but it would not be in my top ten meals ( probably not top 100!)

Ahhh, thank you! I keep seeing it come up and think I'm missing out...but I might give it a swerve then, in that case! I don't mind a mild curry like a korma, but I like it to have the varying tastes, and katsu doesn't seem up to Robin House curry standards. 😂

LindorDoubleChoc · 03/01/2025 23:17

We had chorizo and chickpea stew (onion, garlic, green and yellow pepper strips, chorizo, plum tomatoes, chickpeas, smoked paprika, chipotle chilli flakes, bayleaf, s&p, bag of fresh spinach wilted on the top at the end of cooking time) with brown basmati rice.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 04/01/2025 10:01

Crispy tofu in satay sauce with sticky rice, peppers, pack Choi and mushrooms.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/01/2025 10:21

We’ll be having a substantial mulligatawny, with turkey ‘bits’ out of the freezer. Onions, carrots, celery, curry powder, rice, stock cubes - turkey ‘bits’ and a cut up apple added for just the last 5 minutes. Will have with naan bread if I can find any in the freezer.

In a day or two it’ll be a turkey bits, leek and mushroom pie, with mash on top, not pastry.

mamaduckbone · 04/01/2025 10:24

Singapore noodles - Save with Jamie recipe.
I'm craving things with fresh flavours and ingredients other than meat and cheese at this point.

TinyMouseTheatre · 04/01/2025 10:25

Last night was Chippy Tea abd it wax lovely!

Tonight I'm cooking what I should have cooked last night, chicken and spinach curry.

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 04/01/2025 16:40

Last night was jacket spud (with leftover cheese!)

Tonight is chilli-ish, made with loads of finely diced leftover raw veg and red beans, adding a thinly sliced steak at the end. Serving with rice and guac.

Tomorrow, roast chicken, yorkies and green beans.

AlltheClocks · 04/01/2025 16:45

Salt and pepper chilli chips with chicken.

theallotmentqueen · 04/01/2025 16:52

Vegetable soup :)

IrisApfel · 04/01/2025 16:58

Steak and broccoli with garlic butter, new potatoes for those who want them.
