Anyone else watching? What a perfect way to while away an afternoon, swooning over Captain Von Trapp. Can't think how many times I've seen it but, if it's on TV, it must be watched!

For a romantic film there are a lot of Nazis.

There was a programme on BBC 2 this morning about Salzburg and The Sound of Music. It's probably on iPlayer. 😀

Are they the baddies?

Only realised it was on about 15 mins ago - my favourite film. And I always cry at the end.

Happily it's not them doing the romancing!

I have been to Salzberg. It’s lovely.. they do a SOM tour too.

I'm watching it with the subtitles on so I can sing a long. I went to Salzburg many years ago and went on a Sound of Music tour and hopped up the Do Re Mi steps.

My niece's school is putting on The Sound of Music next year, she's a nun. I can't remember which one but I'm looking forward to it and when my niece calls over I can join her in singing the songs. It's like being in a permanent musical when I see her, one minute she's talking, the next she bursts into song.

It was my Nan's favourite film and we always watch it over Christmas to keep her in our minds. Such a beautiful film. And Christopher Plummer remains very watchable

Dh won’t have it on in the house. He’s from a country that was occupied, so he’s a bit funny about the idea of nazis bursting into song.

Sometimes when Dh pisses me off I like to sneer at him 'sometimes...I don't believe I know you.'

Also she's a baddie but the baroness is fabulous.

My late PILs went on a coach trip to Austria (including a couple of days in Salzburg) and they were the only ones on the coach who had never seen the film. This was thirty years ago.

her wardrobe is stunning! And except for not being natural with kids and planting the seeds that made Maria go back to the abbey she really isn't awful. She handles her fiancé very obviously thirsting over another woman, who is live-in staff, with exceptionally good grace in my book.
