Words you don't like

With thanks to @DebbieTheCat for the inspiration, how about a list of the words you really can't be doing with?

Top of my list would be "problematic" - the whole beige, head-tilted, be kind-ness of it just annoys me!

Ensemble - because in French it doesn’t sound ugly.

Patty - because I don’t like to think a burger has any relationship to cow poo

Belly - because I prefer tummy

Pee - as in going for a, because it sounds like a bloke in a pub and word a toddler shouldn’t know

Sanfin

This is a word used by a tv presenter which makes me feel sick.

They mean - something.

I know it's based on pronunciation, but it's not even close.

And the word get dragged out in duration and ends up like two different words (instead of one word).

San fin.

As is - am ganna tell ya san fin nahhhh.

I'm going to tell you something now.

There's a newsreader on Radio 5 who pronounces government as givirnmint. I want to hack my own ears off every time.

My bad. Terrible. It might be your mistake.
Any noun which is turned into a verb...eg 'to medal'. Surely you win a medal? And for court cases where a decision is 'appealed'. I should be 'appealed against'

How do you feel about the word spew?

I asked a girl why her brother wasn't in school and she used this word - hadn't heard it in that context for a long while.

Inappropriate.

Especially when used by officialdom to describe behaviour or opinions. Be specific!

Is this person rude, outspoken, or do you just disagree with their unfashionable opinion? Is their behaviour ignorant, uncultured, boorish, violent, or criminal? Or are they just doing something you don't like?

Woo. As in things being woo, not wooing a new boyfriend.

Worst of all though (can barely type it) - pop of colour.

Like how a food feels in your mouth… I’ve heard quite a few use it and really shudder every time.

@MyOtherCarIsAPorsche Now you come to mention it I don't like spew either - not as bad as puke but likewise I haven't heard spew for a long time . 😀. Why not just say I've been sick or vomited. I realise this is my personal opinion and others are available. But good spot.

Literally, when 99% of the time it is not. Such as "I literally died on the spot"

'Excited' and 'super-excited' seem to have replaced 'anticipating' and 'looking forward to' on professional social media for people with promotions or new jobs. Dickheads.

I have never ever met another “portion” hater!!! I’ve hated it since I was a teenager. I can actually type it now - never used to be able to do that. It’s irrational but it’s unbelievably ick and has been for me since before ick was a thing. (Fully aware some people find “ick” ick…)
