Thanks. Same to you and everyone else. DH has broken his ankle and is in hospital. Christmas is cancelled. We still have to cook the giant turkey in the fridge

Oh no! How did he do it?

PandoraSox · 24/12/2024 17:14

Oh no @derxa that is decidedly unfestive.

Oh no! If he's in hospital I'm guessing it's not a straightforward break. I hope he heals well and help is available for the farm. When do you lamb?

That’s awful derxa. So sorry that’s happened to you both. Hope he’s home soon.

He’s not the farmer, I am. Ankle broken in 3 places so has plates and screws. Anyway it actually could have been worse.

Llttledrummergirl · 24/12/2024 17:53

Sorry about your husband Derxa. My dm did that a few years ago, she slipped walking the dog. The ambulance they sent sailed right by her as the breaks didn't work on the hill so continued downhill until it stopped in the hedge. A passerby in a 4x4 saw what happened and drove her to hospital.

She phoned my, high as a kite on morphine complaining that she'd had no pain relief. Anyway, a week later, she was stood on her good leg icing the christmas cake, with her broken foot being supported behind her on a stool. I hope your husband makes as good a recovery as my dm.

OK. I'm used to husband and wife partnerships but presumably with that kind of break he'll be useless for anything that isn't computer based for a while.

BIossomtoes · 24/12/2024 18:09

I bet it’s hideously painful. How did he do it?

He generally works from home. He works in information risk management. Ds will do the lambing. To add insult to injury I fainted today when visiting him. 🥴

BestIsWest · 24/12/2024 18:17

Sorry to hear that @Derxa and hope you feel better yourself. It’s a shit time of year to do that - it’s shit anytime (I’ve done it 3 times). Hope things go ok for you all.

Notonthestairs · 24/12/2024 18:24

Well if you are going to faint anywhere hospital is that place to do it.

I hope he has some kickarse painkillers.

What a shame for Christmas.

And I'm sorry for your friend @cardibach. That's very hard.

It's amazing isn't it how something as simple as slipping on the stairs can cause so much damage Shock
I'm sorry you fainted derxa. I hope you're feeling better today.
Sounds like there will be a lot of pressure on you in the coming weeks so although DH doesn't farm with you have you got the help you need for the farm or for him?

A very happy Christmas to all from me and the cats too. Best wishes to you and your DH @derxa, and your friend @cardibach.
