Thankyou for new thread.

Zonder · 06/12/2024 09:30

No cat tax available yet as she has just gone outside but I think this is the first time something I've said has made it as the thread title and it's made my day!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/12/2024 09:38

Thank you for the new thread @DuncinToffee I shall remain an avid reader but only an occasional commentator if that's alright.
Cat tax enclosed as per rules.

Thanks for the new thread, double cat tax as promised, still struggling with the aftermath of the builders so didn’t get round to posting them last week.

Morning. The cats (and dog) are still well above average.

LlynTegid · 06/12/2024 10:23

Will try to pay cat tax later.

pointythings · 06/12/2024 10:46

Thanks for the new thread. Cat tax included (my lovely mad ginger boy who sadly is losing weight again, the kidney disease is winning). He's having a snooze with my wobbly boy here.

Am I the only one who’s not owned by a cat? Here’s my princess.

Morning. Here on cat patrol.

I'm sorry, but isn't that level of cuteness illegal?

Great thread title. Congratulations @zonder!

I was intrigued by this from the last thread I think a lot of the Reform votes came from former Labour voters who would never vote Tory. I can’t get my head round a Labour voter who can’t bring themselves to vote Tory but managed to mandate Reform. What weird thing happens in someone’s head to do that?

PandoraSox · 06/12/2024 11:33

I miss having a pet, so I love seeing all your pictures, they are all beautiful. I have a particular soft spot for black cats.❤️

Llttledrummergirl · 06/12/2024 11:40

Thank you for the new thread. My non cat tax will follow later.

Following from the last thread, Llanelli was where several busses of right wingers camped outside an empty hotel for months. Hopefully once it settles back to normality, without the trouble being stirred, reform will fade away.

You know I think this is more possible than we would like to think. A lot of Labour voters are unhappy about migration and will attribute their woes on living standards and employment to that. They will like a Reform narrative that appeals to that; they will be less engaged on loopy policies like the NHS being privatised etc

BestIsWest · 06/12/2024 11:43

@blossomtoes Brexit didn’t help, it really divided the community. 20mph didn’t help (though personally I agree with it), there was a bad episode where a local hotel was suddenly taken over for asylum seekers, cancelling weddings and putting local people out of work leading to Farage and co visiting making the most of it and of course, the Tories are still very much tainted by Thatcher and the 80s and the decimation of the industrial landscape here in Wales. That’s something which Reform doesn’t have. I think a lot of people there see Reform as somehow being on their side which we know they are not.

I very much hope I’m wrong but I have the same feeling as I had the day before the Brexit referendum when we were in a cafe there and I said to DH that Leave would win.

*Edited to say the local hotel was never used for asylum seekers and is back in operation now.

BestIsWest · 06/12/2024 11:47

@littledrummergirl, sorry I didn’t see your post re the hotel.

SerendipityJane · 06/12/2024 11:53

PMK.

Llttledrummergirl · 06/12/2024 12:01

The hotel issue was not a result of Brexit. It was a result of the tories piss poor handling of Brexit and their policy of enriching their mates by slowing the rate of examining asylum claims.

I do agree that this emboldened Farage and reform though.

PandoraSox · 06/12/2024 12:02

That is such a good point and one I hadn't thought of @BestIsWest

BIossomtoes · 06/12/2024 12:10

I hadn’t either, that explanation makes total sense.

Zonder · 06/12/2024 12:15

Maybe some people are taken in by Garage's man of the people look with his pint in hand, too.
