Presumably the BBC ran an identical stories when every previous administrations ordered new files.
Otherwise it might look they are desperate for anti government news.

I suspect it was put out by the Government to highlight civil service waste.

Just like in Yes Minister (A question of loyalty)

PMQs again shortly - doesn't seem like a week since the last ones - December seems to be flying by!!

cardibach · 11/12/2024 12:01

I’m actually in for PMQs today!

Lucky you! Enjoy!

cardibach · 11/12/2024 12:16

Blimey. Badenoch gets more smug every week. And with no substance.

bombastix · 11/12/2024 12:21

But she’s no better than any other week! Rubbish

cardibach · 11/12/2024 12:37

Absolutely useless. Walks into traps and then smirks.

Cheguevarahamster · 11/12/2024 12:42

Why on earth is she focusing on migration when the Tory record is so abysmal?

She said they got it wrong. So we should all forget about it apparently.

I don’t know what planet her researchers are on.

The political language on immigration has consequences

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy8977xy2g2o

During his police interview, Medlock said he had chosen the firm and its immigration chief as targets after they had been named in a Daily Mail article three days earlier.

That article came after sources in Boris Johnson's government had been briefing some journalists for weeks that "activist lawyers" had been holding up some deportations, the court heard.

The phrase was used publicly a week before the attack in a video posted on the Home Office's account on Twitter, now known as X.

Court finds neo-Nazi Cavan Medlock planned attack at law firm

Cavan Medlock had a Nazi flag and a knife when he targeted the immigration law firm, a court finds.

Doing Nige's bidding?

He’s trolling her apparently.

Badenoch sounds a bit scared. She is feeling the heat from Farage, who I maintain will do this job better than she ever can. He’s your friendly fellow with the pint with common sense, and she’s jabbing her finger in the air and heading for the dark side of the loon.

How many more members will she lose! Quite a few. All Starmer had to do was go strong on Kemi “open borders” Badenoch. That will stick to her, because it suits Labour and Reform to say it.

The tractors in the famers protest today are blocking ambulances. I am sure it's not delibarate but it is poorly thought out.

I was at my cousins funeral today. Standing room only. Family and farmers. I’m not in the mood for your nastiness.

It's not nastiness to point out the consequences of blocking the roads in a city centre

Condolences

Impeding the passage of emergency vehicles is a bad move - whoever is doing it

It is not nasty to point out that hindering the emergency services is both immoral and poor politics. And I would say the same about anyone who does this. Don't play the victim about this one.

Some shady goings on with funding for school buildings. The CMA is investigating suspected bid-rigging in a fund for school building improvements. Several companies are suspected of colluding to secure contracts. The government has withdrawn funding from some projects due to irregularities. Companies found guilty could face fines and be banned from future public contracts.https://schoolsweek.co.uk/competition-watchdog-opens-suspected-bid-rigging-probe-into-school-repair-contracts-condition-improvement-fund/

Having worked in a business that was subject to the oversight of the Competition Commission (the predecessor to the SMA) I am well aware of the quite dramatic powers they have. I - and the entire IT team - were prepared for a dawn raid at any time, and clearly instructed that we would have to cooperate with investigators regardless of the instructions of our superiors.

Knowing such powers exist, I wonder how far up the chain the collusion goes before it becomes plain old fashioned corruption.

Saucery · 11/12/2024 16:53

I don’t agree with any protest that blocks roads, preventing people from getting where they need to be and potentially stopping life saving help reaching people. It doesn’t matter how much I agree with the cause, show your strength of feeling in numbers on foot or land where no emergency services need to get through.
