What was nasty about it @derxa?

I'm sorry (genuinely) for your loss. But your post was, to say the least, somewhat bizarre.

BestIsWest · 11/12/2024 17:23

Wouldn’t being at a funeral make you more sympathetic to those who would need an ambulance? I’m not quite sure how that remark can be deemed nasty.
I am sorry for your loss but as someone who has had family lives both saved and unable to be saved by the ambulance service and having an ambulance technician family member my sympathies lie with them not people blockading them.

Why in god's name did the farmers decide to protest with their tractors near St.Thomas's Hospital which is one of the biggest hospitals in Europe. If this was JO, they would be arrested

bombastix · 11/12/2024 19:22

I am going to put up this petition. It asks that the Government implement the recommendations of the Harm Report. There is a petition link below.

This will, I believe, improve the courts understanding of domestic abuse and what people who do this look like.

The death of Sania Sharif at the hands of her sadist father could have been prevented if he had never had custody.

This government says it wants protect women and girls. It should start with this.

if it was JO the usual suspects would be in meltdown & shouting for arrests !

The shelter report it’s truly horrific, heartbreaking statistics.
as for sodding Nick Candy & his billions he can fuck off.

Notonthestairs · 12/12/2024 08:47

Thank you. The whole case is morally repugnant and a total failure of state authority. Women and children would actually be better off in many cases without this morbid bureaucracy that affects to care for them. It does not.

Notonthestairs · 12/12/2024 08:59

Well the Sharif case has obviously been widely reported but is, I imagine, the tip of the iceberg.
Problem is that the system needs more investment at every level. Deeply depressing.

Lord Laming who has written two reports into child abuse and the role of the social services, was on R4 laying the blame on years of cuts, leading to large case loads and SS having to make decisions on which child to visit etc and which child to drop/put to the back of the queue.

Yes. But it also needs acknowledging that dangerous and abusive men are not being identified and managed, either by the family court or social services. This system is not just underfunded, it is incompetent.

SerendipityJane · 12/12/2024 10:05

But becoming policeman and MPs.

bombastix · 12/12/2024 10:10

Yes. Andrew Griffiths, former MP.

This man used the family court system to hide his brutal treatment of his wife.

He played all the right notes; engaged in getting shared parenting rights, working on the Upskirting Bill, working for greater participation of women in politics.

Whereas in private, he was an abuser and a rapist.

The family courts are a disgrace. They are multiplying the cruelty and misogyny of abusive men on women and children.

You cannot fit a quart into a pint pot.

I see what happens in adult social care, people in desperate need, waiting months, even years before getting help, people who have severe acquired brain injury.

Its not just men either, women are also guilty of extreme child and parental abuse.

The courts services are at breaking point, from family to criminal to civil.

Yes its incompetent because its underfunded.

bombastix · 12/12/2024 10:30

I’m not concerned about adult social care. I’m concerned about children.

The fact that women can be abusive does not mean we should ignore that statically, harm and incidence of abuse is overwhelmingly male.

The incompetence in this case is compounded by the family court’s decision. When the review is completed, I suspect there will be much reference to the presentation of this family, their deceptive behaviour and how no one could have known. But unfortunately it will be a self serving moment where truthfully any one of the people involved did know but did not move to protect.

here are some things that the family court could manage to do.

  • Remove the presumption of parental involvement(S.1(2A) of Child Act 1989)1without further delays to address its detrimental effects.
  • Regulate experts in the family courts to ensure they have the appropriate qualifications. This would help to root out so-called parental alienation experts, who style themselves as psychologists (which is currently an unregulated term), and influence court proceedings.
  • Ensure all survivors can access legal aid in the family courts by removing the means test for them.
  • Ensure that all professionals working in the family justice system receive training on domestic abuse including a cultural change programme to introduce and embed reforms to private law children’s proceedings and help to ensure consistent implementation. Training must be provided by domestic abuse and VAWG organisations. We remain seriously concerned about the lack of meaningful engagement with the VAWG sector and therefore the quality of training on domestic abuse in the family justice system.
  • Ensure the special measures introduced in the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 are available in all courts and consistently offered and implemented (e.g. screens in court, remote hearings, separate waiting rooms)

Sign Melanie Brown MBE's Family Courts Petition

The family courts are not safe for survivors of domestic abuse – judges need training now from experts working with abused women and children like Women’s Aid. “Women tell Women’s Aid going to the family courts can be as bad as the abuse itself” “Women...

The protest was organised with the police well in advance. They didn’t just turn up on their tractors. How ridiculous to go on about JO. After the the last protest the farmers picked up any litter and left the place tidier than it was before. They also donated a huge amount to a London food bank.

50% of the social workers in this country, work with adults, so dealing with adults properly, frees up SW's, adult social care isn't just about handing out meals.

Many of the terrible cases we've seen in recent years have involved women who have either taken part in the childs murder or sat back and did nothing.

The things you want in Family courts, require money... and time... experts, screenings, waiting rooms, training, qualified staff/court officials, remote hearings.

Then there are the cuts in funding for DV charities and organisations, 50% of women, who are in immediate danger, cannot get help, this means children stuck in dangerous and violent situations.

Doesn't matter, its causing huge issues for people leading up to xmas, not least reduced trade for London shops and businesses.

But as usual, Farmers get and do whatever they want, a bunch of entitled twats.

Pay their taxes, they ve an excellent deal, 20% and 10 years to pay.... one guy yesterday pleading poverty on TV, turns out leased land to a solar company, netting him 10s of 1000s... omitted that little detail.

Dairy and sheep farmers are doing very very well indeed right now.

bombastix · 12/12/2024 10:54

It’s money better spent on prevention than the morbid bureaucracy of a review, an inquest, a criminal trial where money is suddenly not a problem.

However, if the review does not make reference to the unique deception of these depraved people I will be most surprised. Institutionally that is code for, we did not see anything overt and as such the case was sent to the bottom of the pile. I wonder what the top priority was and why?

DuncinToffee · 12/12/2024 10:57

Donating to foodbanks whilst protseting against IHT, it's a bit 'let them eat cake'

Quite the charmer aren’t you. I don’t dish out insults like this What is your profession so I can make an assessment of your usefulness to society.

cardibach · 12/12/2024 11:01

Nobody is questioning famers’ usefulness to society, @derxa
Why do you always assume anyone saying something you don’t like about IhT or anything farmers do is saying they are worthless?

BestIsWest · 12/12/2024 11:03

But you called someone nasty for complaining about emergency services being blocked. That is an insult is it not?

None of you understand the situation. Starmer and the DEFRA basically lied to farmers before the election. It was a shock. As I said yesterday I was at my cousins funeral. The amount of good that woman did for the community was immense.
