Besides, James O'Brien wasn't so much mocking as pointing out the disparity in how different parties MPs are treated.

All Derxa can seem to manage is a few laughing emojis...

itsgettingweird · 29/11/2024 12:25

No but these threads seem to select people who are The Enemy and tear into them like voracious wolves. You wouldn’t speak like this to their faces.

I'd tell her.

Just like I told Braverman to her face what I thought of her politics and her absenteeism when it came to responding to emails.

I also told my conservative councillor how much I liked him and when he retired told how I hope his successor would do as much for us as he had and fight for what's right like he had.

I don't judge people by their political choices. I judge them by their words and actions.

Braverman uses disgusting emotive language.

Jenkins stuck her finger up with a face in public when apparently representing those in education.

I'll judge away Grin

No at all. I find these threads fascinating and hilarious in equal measure. The perfect example of a hive mind.

And yet I love this thread as we aren't a hive mind.

We didn't all vote Labour, we haven't all always voted Labour, and even those of use who did this time don't agree with all Labour choices.

I find it - mostly - a very good place to share my opinions as on the whole I feel they are listened to, if challenged done well , and respected even if different.

I’m talking about J O’B in general.

A minor point but it’s Jenkyns, with a y.

Not that it should make any difference - we all have our likes and dislikes, irrespective of someone’s background - but, especially in view of the thread title, I think it should be pointed out that Jenkyns is every bit as working class as Rayner.

All of that said, IMO Reform are loathsome. And I regret that any Tory jumps ship to them.

Saucery · 29/11/2024 12:35

Shame to see you churning out that hackneyed old ‘hive mind’ rubbish @derxa . Got a lot of time for your thoughts on farming etc but you seem to have joined the ranks of the Ploppers now.

SerendipityJane · 29/11/2024 12:36

Without naming names. the Brexit threads are kept fairly clean by one simple hack - some here may know.

Quite right. People should have the right to judge others and express opinions. It’s the two legs good four legs bad approach I find funny. I blame Twitter where people take a rigid stance. I’m totally the opposite of Diane Abbot in my political views but I admire her in many ways. I like Wes Streeting and he sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the Cabinet.

Alexandra2001 · 29/11/2024 12:48

Jenkyns has a mixed bag on voting.

https://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/25431/andreajenkyns/morleyandoutwood/votes

She reached the finals of Miss UK and suffers from Fibromyalgia an awful condition, so whilst i wouldn't agree with her on much, she also hasn't been dealt a great hand in life.

I dislike Wes Streeting more than i would AJ...... because he has the power to change things and she does not.... i think he is full of BS on the NHS.

PandoraSox · 29/11/2024 12:52

I am fed up with the narrative that we on this thread are all silly little feather brained Labour supporters who will defend what ever Labour does. It is insulting to our intelligence.

I cannot stand Wes Streeting. I think there is something really off about him, The stuff he has tweeted in the past is really dodgy.

PickAChew · 29/11/2024 12:59

Quite @PandoraSox . I'm generally left leaning but also a floating voter. Labour lost control of our county council for the first time ever, a few years ago, and it's been no bad thing in many ways to have the current libdem/ tory/ independent coalition fix some of their dafter decisions.

cardibach · 29/11/2024 13:01

derxa · 29/11/2024 11:56

Fair enough but my feeling is that AJ shouldn’t exist or express their views according to many on here. I see J O’B up thread. His approach is to mock and talk over those he disagrees with. A bit like on here.

Can you explain how anyone on a written forum can ‘talk over’ anyone? Everyone can get their full say, it’s just people won’t always agree with what you write.

Saucery · 29/11/2024 13:02

It is insulting to our intelligence

It’s intended to be, isn’t it. I never get why some posters are given a free pass on threads like this to come on and just make up shit about the other posters. No one would be allowed to repeatedly go into Chicken Keepers and act like everyone there has 20,000 birds in tiny pens and a big macerator for the male chicks. No one would be allowed to go on to The Litter Tray and repeatedly say all cats should be indoor cats or they, the poster should be allowed to put poison down or throw bricks at their head (I mean, I have seen nutcases do this kind of thing but it is swiftly dealt with by MNHQ). Any incursions onto other boards or threads by goady fuckers is dealt with and I can’t see why this thread should be any different.
Come on the thread, state your case or opinion like a reasonable human being and stop making up lies. It’s boring. It’s extra skimming when I see certain user names (added a new one today). It’s feeling I have to explain over and over that my natural vote would be Tory (if they were proper Tories, not this shower of shite) to Randoms who know full well they are making up fairy stories. Fucking dull.

Melania90 · 29/11/2024 13:07

I am so fucking upset at that even the new government keeps on with the negative narrative around immigration. Sure, I agree that there are issues, but as an immigrant who is a teacher in a shortage subject and is sticking with the horrendous jobs while others are leaving in droves, and been in this country since childhood, and contributed so damn much… still no word of acknowledgment or thanks from the politicians. They keep painting us as undesirable, undeserving, enemies with sharp teeth and forky tails.

just sick of it now.

cardibach · 29/11/2024 13:08

I quite like Wes Streeting. The dodgy tweeting was a long time ago when he was young and stupid. People should be allowed to grow past that. I think he has the right intentions and some good ideas on the NHS - nobody is perfect obviously. I listened to a long interview with him a while ago (could have been on the Full Disclosure podcast). He’s an interesting character and very intelligent.

Saucery · 29/11/2024 13:13

I’ve grown to like Streeting a little better. He seems willing to change his mind about things and discuss them in a more mature way. My view is that comes from wanting to advance in politics rather than any lightning bolt of realisation but I can’t really hold that against him as I think a lot of politicians are the same.

Ploppers and Moaners, please note….@PandoraSox has not flounced, called names or accused other posters of —typing— talking over her. A difference of opinion on Wes Streeting will not lead to goadiness or insults. It can be a difficult concept to grasp, I know, but please do try to read the tone of the thread. That way, you might contribute something worth reading.

PandoraSox · 29/11/2024 13:13

I just watched Diane Abbott speak in the assisted dying debate. I felt really emotional watching her. She quoted Brown who said "we need to show that we can get better at assisted living before deciding on whether to legislate on ways to die". Absolutely spot on.

Well these people go in my personal crab bucket. Can’t be bothered with it, don’t respond to them either.

Zonder · 29/11/2024 13:17

I used to be a bit wary of WS but he's gone up in my estimation more recently. I'm sure he will be delighted to hear that 😆

feel the same, also agree he is extremely intelligent Saucery good points in pp.
Dexra I would tell AJ my views face to face, I don’t agree with her brand of politics or the vast majority of her views, I am sorry though she is suffering from fibromyalgia it’s a very debilitating illness
