Kemi Badenoch's spokesman tells me that she is calling for Keir Starmer to hold another general election now because the Conservative party wants to "have another go" at winning.

If they persist, then highlighting that it's probably a good thing that a party with no understanding of the mechanisms of UK politics and it's heritage are nowhere near the levers of power.

Today's migration statistics show, as expected, that the post-Brexit/post-pandemic migration surge has abated..

However, the last two year's figures have been revised up. Total net migration over last four years is now 2.5 million (2020Q3 to 2024Q2).

But visas issues now falling sharply..

I can only imagine the headline in the Daily Mail if/when the current government manages to reduce the migration numbers.

What a disaster for the UK. The Conservatives are utterly incompetent. No wonder they went on and on about asylum seekers hoping to distract people from a migration level that really is unsustainable.

Badenoch would have know these figures were coming hence her cobbled together statement yesterday. I think she is going to be eaten alive by Reform who can be far more open and aggressively right wing than her, and much much more credible (which is ridiculous but also is just an indication of how shit the Conservatives have been).

That label of “the open borders party” is going to stick
