And in a move that will surprise no one, Andrea Jenkyns has joined Reform

Looking at the breakdown the figures roughly the bulk of immigration seems to be made up of 200,000 study visas plus 63,000 family visas and 157,000 work visas plus 219,000 dependants visas.
Both those figures will continue to drop due to minimum salary threshold and change of legislation regarding dependants. Also the bulk of those that came to study post pandemic will start to leave next year. So the numbers will drop.

Amazed she hung on this long. Seem to remember her election leaflets had Farage's face over them - still didnt help her keep her seat. Although that might linked to her one fingered salute to the public.

Of course. Wonder why it took her so long.

Notonthestairs · 28/11/2024 14:11

Also we have (rightly) had roughly 60,000 visa applicants from Ukraine and HK. The HK numbers will drop off even if the Ukrainians applicants dont (depending on what happens in 2025).

I can only imagine the headline in the Daily Mail if/when the current government manages to reduce the migration numbers.
Poor Migrants reject Starmer's Britain perhaps?

Thousands of Brits leaving as they can't stand any more.

Aren't they a bit woke for her?

cardibach · 28/11/2024 15:03

She’s running for Greater Lincolnshire mayor, apparently…

Repulsive woman. She was my MP before I moved.

What did Lincs do to deserve that?

cardibach · 28/11/2024 15:44

Hard to imagine what would deserve that…
It’s quite a right wing/Reformy area I think though.

Jason118 · 28/11/2024 16:05

She's obviously spotted a train that may contain gravy.

She says she's joining 'the party of the brave'😆and cites the transfer of the Chagos islands, IHT on farmers and the WFA. So basically it's all Labour's fault.

No, Andrea, the only reason you are joining Reform is because you are racist. Despicable woman.

I think that might prove an attractive topic for a certain ideologically driven section of Conservative MPs and some former Conservative MPs. Kruger and Cates as examples. Maybe he's flirting with them.

I doubt he's expecting to change the law - let's face it, despite what Farage is quoted as saying, I don't think it's a massive topic in the homes of the UK.

But it's a topic that the media can easily rent an opinion about so it will absorb lots of energy and attention and achieve very little. So win win.

It's Labour's fault an ex Conservative MP is joining Reform?
Make that make sense.

Sometimes in life, you discover some things which are sort of obvious, but not.

For example, Despite both being fruits, an apple is not a green orange.

I am hoping (is there evidence to back me up - feel free to comment below 👇) that the UK is not just a smaller version of the US when it comes to people.

Incidentally for all the moon hoax morons, the moon is not the same as the earth (who knew ?) which is where about 80% of their "facts" fall flat
