As an aside - I had a Twitter (then X) account but never log in as don't like it.

But I felt I should be using this type of SM - so have signed up for blue sky.

And after a very long winded way around having to reset my x password - I've deactivated my account!

Does anyone remember when petitions arrived at 10 Downing Street in boxes? Many is the time a petition was dismissed on the grounds it had been signed by Mickey Mouse.

"Check out the "Cybersecurity" Monkey Cage podcast - a tiny bit more detail behind that idea."
Thanks Jane - I will.

This one has apparently been signed by Starmer himself!

Is it wrong o found that hilarious 😂

Notonthestairs · 25/11/2024 11:27

So did I. 😁

Must be true then 😆 maybe he has decided he doesn't fancy the job any more. I wouldn't blame him, it's a thankless task, sorting this lot out.

Pandora explained that on another thread, you can't see the petitioners name instead it shows the constituency MP's name.

Sorry - yes I read that on social media before checking it.

If you go to the petition and click on Petition Data at the bottom of the page it shows a breakdown of signatures and if you scroll through the countries listed you come to numbers of signatures per constituency.

I still rather hope someone has signed on Starmer's behalf.

Starmer is bang on there. The words of the ITV interviewer, less so.

EverythingAllatOnceAllTheTime · 25/11/2024 13:12

Further tone deafness.

I maintain a significant number of MNers have little or no commercial exposure/acumen.

I wish they could see the very real damage being done - in real time.

Once again, business and the markets will do the talking.

DuncinToffee · 25/11/2024 13:13

Starmer did very well not to laugh out loud at that question

If we are going to run the country via petition there are a few previous petitions I'd like implemented first...

(Although I wouldn't obviously because I acknowledge losers consent is vital to maintaining our democracy)

We could start with the reversing Brexit one. 4 million, was it?

I think there were two, one had 6m, the other 4m.

Notonthestairs · 25/11/2024 13:29

Wasnt that for a second referendum?

Notonthestairs · 25/11/2024 13:29

I might be wrong but the 6 million one was to reverse Article 50.

You are right, that's the one that had 6.1m signatures

He did, His reply was very good.

Half of British firms will cut jobs following budget tax hikes.

That'll do. Let's go for that one instead.

Efacsen · 25/11/2024 13:44

Badenoch speaking at the CBI - just a matter of time before she says something 'unpleasant' which requires her to clarify [tone down/contradict] what she really meant

Zonder · 25/11/2024 13:44

Oh poor Badenoch. The press do have this habit of trying to take her at her word.

DuncinToffee · 25/11/2024 13:46

As long as she doesn't mention peppa pig.........
