Cheryl's son Bear

WutheringMights · 20/11/2024 13:24

Cheryl being photographed at Liam Payne's funeral today got me thinking about how her son Bear has never been photographed.

I suspect this is because Cheryl hasn't given consent to photos being published but don't the media usually blur out faces of celebrity children if their parents haven't provided publishing consent?

Just wondered how Cheryl has managed to go all these years avoiding the paps and members of the public taking photos and for them to be published albeit with pixelated faces.

Bear is awfully young to be attending a funeral, even his father's. Glad he didn't.

Why do you think that? Attending a funeral is an important part of the grief process and often even more so for children.

Yes, you're right about Hugh Grant - never seen his kids either.

I think it's great. Let the children decide if they want to be in the public eye when they are old enough to make an informed decision.

One example of how this works well and Hugh himself came a-cropper is with Richard E Grants daughter who works in film building her own proffesional reputation. Daughter worked on a set with Hugh and he was awful to her not realising he knew her dad (not excusing it if he didn’t) but he soon found out when Richard himself confronted him and they had a blazing row.

This was Perrie from Little Mix, not Girls Aloud. It was recorded before Liam's death. Bear sounds like Cheryl! 💕

I did say it was Perrie from Little Mix in my post that you quoted

We don't know for certain if he did or didn't attend -just that he wasn't allowed to be photographed by the media; that's the deal that was made.

He could have entered and left by a different door. Good on her for protecting their son either way.

My DD attended my dad’s funeral aged 7. She wanted to and as long as she wanted to we thought it might help with closure.

I think the media really wanted the pictures of One Direction. It’s the first time they have reunited in a decade and the last time all five of them will be together.

Cheryl really isn’t comparable and whilst there will definitely be an interest in Bear, because he is Liam’s son, I agree that the media intentionally stayed away. Given Cheryl seemed to get into the church without being photographed, perhaps the trade off was for Harry, Louis, Zayn and Niall to be pictured instead - because I’m sure they could have also gone in through the side door or been blocked from cameras if they chose to.

There were photos of Cheryl all over the papers?

Donsyb · 21/11/2024 21:58

Hulahoopalaver · 20/11/2024 22:02

And Angelina Jolie too. Her kids are only being photographed at events and stuff now that they are older and can choose for themselves.

They’ve been photographed for years! Since they were small children. Maybe not shown in the first here but all over the tabloids in the US.

Bunny65 · 22/11/2024 02:49

If a celebrity wants to keep their child private the press will respect that, as they did with Kate Moss's daughter. There are strict rules these days around minors. They will not show pixelated pictures as it isn't necessary to show the child at all. Unauthorised footage on social media is nothing to do with the mainstream media and probably taken by a member of the public.

The photos you saw were of Cheryl leaving the church. It has been "reported" she entered via a side entrance (presumably with Bear).

Pupinskipops · 23/11/2024 18:39

What a strange thing to be exercised by! 😂

Well done to her and liam for making that decision.

Linux20 · 23/11/2024 19:41

I think the deal is that if the celeb doesn’t post photos or take them to official events, then the press can’t publish photos. Whereas people like Katie price who puts her kids everywhere are free game.

i hope he did. I was 8 when my mum died, I went to the funeral but not the burial. I think that was the correct decision. The child needs closure and to grieve too.

Ami09x · 24/11/2024 04:54

Bear was at Liam's funeral, he went in the back entrance concealed from the paps. There was a deal with Liam's family that they could photograph the funeral as long as no photos of Bear were taken or published. Cheryl thought it was important that he say goodbye to his dad.

The wonder wasn't about Bear.
The wonder was about the difference between publishing photos children with pixelated faces compared to not publishing the photo at all.

Are there levels of media intrusion allowed depending on the agreement in place between the media and the parent.

Eg:

Level 1: full photo of child with no pixelation.
Level 2: photo of child with pixelated faces.
Level 3: no photo at all.

This was my wonder.

Thanks for your valuable input though.

I would think they had /have something in place to protect him.

It's nice to think that even with the tragic events that he has a son on earth who will give some comfort to Cheryl and Liam's family.

His poor parents 😔😔

Even with the sunglasses on most, you could really see the pain on all their faces. Simon looked a shell of himself.

I wonder why the girlfriends family didn't attend ? They were together for a longish time and seemed to have plans to marry, I would have thought they'd want to pay their respect ?

How would you know if his girlfriends family were there or not. Does anyone know what they look like?

This is what the paps and ghastly tabloids feed off, a demand to know, by people who have no business knowing.

RareTraybake · 24/11/2024 09:36

Total respect to her for understanding how precious he is. No need for paps in his life., and all the sh-t they spout. Too dear to her to exploit. Love. Xx

Sumthingsweet · 24/11/2024 13:59

Why would it bother you ? I’m sure she’s wanting to protect her child .

would you like it if there was a mumsnet chat about your child ? Honestly your so nosey

She doesn’t call the paparazzi to tell them where she will be ergo they don’t photograph her. She’s not Princess Diana, she was in a girl band 20 years ago.

😂
