Cheryl's son Bear

WutheringMights · 20/11/2024 13:24

Cheryl being photographed at Liam Payne's funeral today got me thinking about how her son Bear has never been photographed.

I suspect this is because Cheryl hasn't given consent to photos being published but don't the media usually blur out faces of celebrity children if their parents haven't provided publishing consent?

Just wondered how Cheryl has managed to go all these years avoiding the paps and members of the public taking photos and for them to be published albeit with pixelated faces.

Cheryl has never paraded him in front of the press. She’s always done the right thing.

Bless him, I hope he’s coping as best he can.

Yep WTF is with the open shirt/medallion/oedipus complex look? That kid gives me the creeps big time…

I felt sorry for Kate Cassidy....as she arrive alone. Damien Hurley was supposedly her friend and 'supporting her' however he was there first and spent some time striking a pose.....then walked to the corden when her car arrived and then walked back with her to the church - but he didnt greet her, show warmth, hold her hand etc. V odd indeed. Felt sorry for her.

True, it occurred to me the other day that you never see pictures of the daughter that Paul McCartney had with Heather Mills. She must be grown up now and I can't even remember her name. It does show that children can be allowed to grow up away from the celebrity circus

Think she was called Beatrice.

I feel sorry for her too. She had been with Liam for 2 years, she wasn't just some random woman he'd slept with. She got left out of all the tributes as well, not one person mentioned her. Maybe it's because she'd left Liam, clearly struggling, on his own while she flew home? She said they were planning to get married so it seems very harsh for her to be ignored like this.

The photo of Liam's girlfriend reminded me of Tom Parker's widow at his funeral. Both so young and so sad.

I think illegal in the UK to pront photos of those under 18 unless permission has been given by parents. If parents (looking at you, Beckhams) have exploited their dc and put their photos up on SM, or sold pics to Mags then the press think it’s fair game to print them.
Well done to Cheryl for looking after her son and letting him have a childhood without the press bothering him.

It’s not illegal, it’s against the voluntary Editor’s Code of Conduct. Obviously you could be sued for breach of privacy but that would be a civil tort rather than a criminal prosecution.

Mistletoewench · 20/11/2024 19:00

The funeral was in my town today and from what I can gather it was all low key and respectful (which I am pleased about for the family) they closed the road off for a while as well.
It is such shame for Bear to grow up without a dad, but it looks like they have a close knit family who will support them.
Just hope they get through this all together and are given the privacy they need to heal ❤️

Danielle9891 · 20/11/2024 19:05

Most celebrities go to places they know are full of paparazzi but Cheryl lives up north I think, and chooses to not go to them places.

Mommybunny · 20/11/2024 19:09

For all of the low key-ness of Cheryl’s current existence, she is all too familiar with the ravages of excessive press attention. I lived near Cheryl when she split from Ashley Cole and the paps used to lie in wait under the A3 flyover, blocking the road to traffic. I felt so sorry for her then. How miserable that must have been for her, and well done if she has protected her son from any of that.

She lives in Buckinghamshire, I think.

itsjustbiology · 20/11/2024 19:36

I just wish them all peace after today. Bear will be okay with his mam. These are the worst days imaginable for any family, its days like these that we all must endure from time to time, no amount of fame, talent.money, status will ever compensate. Tomorrow is a new day and I hope the families can begin to heal.

Always surprises me with any funeral of someone significantly in the public eye that there's always some random who turns up just to get their face in the paper looking at you, Damien Hurley .

How do you know whether or not they had a friendship? James Corden also was there pretty sure they must have been mates so why not DH? Find it hard to believe in a family and close friends funeral he was a random as you suggest.

James Corden was a family friend or associate of Louis’s in his childhood. James has spoken out about how he spent a lot of time with the five band members when they first moved to London before they become massively famous.

I think she has been and continues to be a very protective mother who puts her child's best interests first.

Bernadinetta · 20/11/2024 20:02

There’s a clip of one of the Girls Aloud members on Radio 1 (possibly with Greg James?) doing a challenge thing where they have to phone someone famous in their phone and see if they answer and she calls Cheryl, and Bear answers the phone. Let me see if I can find it…

Oh it’s not a Girls Aloud member, it’s Perrie from Little Mix (a fellow North Eastener to Cheryl). Bear sounds very sweet.

I always admire celebs who keep their children away from the media. Cheryl has never ever touted her son around like a commodity and has kept his life private. It says a lot about a persons character. The Beckhams baffle me. I understand they were very young having their eldest child so possibly a bit naive with the media but now their daughter is all over the place and she is only 13 or 14 and you'd imagine they'd have more sense at this stage in their lives and want better for her.

And Rochelle Humes, complete with phone in hand which I think was very disrespectful.

Yes, there are several children at our school who are not in any pictures etc. I hope you and your children ate doing ok.

We're good thanks
High risk adoption so I knew what it would be and said yes.
Same as (sensible!) celebrities do.
For those in hiding in fear of their child's life it must be so much harder.

How do you know their relationship with Liam wasn’t extremely close? You really don’t know.

Sammysquiz · 20/11/2024 20:31

I hate paparazzi pics of funerals, it’s just so intrusive.

Cheryl has done well to keep Bear’s life so private - especially as her fame is fading a bit now, lots of other celebs would be flogging pics of their kids in OK Magazine.

Pollypocket51 · 20/11/2024 20:34

I listened to Cheryl on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast. Jessie said that she had never announced the names of her children and I’m pretty sure Cheryl said she never did either but the press got hold of the public birth records so she had to. Something along those lines anyway. She came across really well and very down to earth.

Christmasmorale · 20/11/2024 20:34

WutheringMights · 20/11/2024 17:01

Yes, you're right about Hugh Grant - never seen his kids either.

I think it's great. Let the children decide if they want to be in the public eye when they are old enough to make an informed decision.

She wouldn't need to get an injunction - she would just need to ask them not to publish pictures. If they didn't comply with her request, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on and she could bring a slam dunk claim against them for misuse of private information. Since Paul Weller's case ten years ago, the law has been pretty clear on children's rights to privacy and the fact that children are afforded more privacy protection under law than adults.

If a child's parents have already exploited their image publicly or given the child significant publicity, this might affect their privacy rights but the press will still need to assess carefully before deciding to publish a publicly recognised child's image/ report about that child's private life.

Fizbosshoes · 20/11/2024 20:37

I'm pretty sure Keira Knightly has some agreement with the media re her kids. I remember seeing a pic of them when they were toddlers babies with faces pixilated out.

I know he is an adult but I found all the recent memes about Gary Barlows son, quite unfair. He's never really been put forward into the limelight (I'm pretty sure Gary and his wife were quite private about their kids when they were young) and AFAIK hasn't put himself forward as a minor celebrity and then there were hundreds of jokes about him from 1 photo.

I'm glad Cheryl keeps Bear out of the limelight, it must be a horrendous time for all his family, and the rest of 1D.
