Cheryl's son Bear

Cheryl being photographed at Liam Payne's funeral today got me thinking about how her son Bear has never been photographed.

I suspect this is because Cheryl hasn't given consent to photos being published but don't the media usually blur out faces of celebrity children if their parents haven't provided publishing consent?

Just wondered how Cheryl has managed to go all these years avoiding the paps and members of the public taking photos and for them to be published albeit with pixelated faces.

I always admire celebs who keep their children away from the media. Cheryl has never ever touted her son around like a commodity and has kept his life private. It says a lot about a persons character. The Beckhams baffle me. I understand they were very young having their eldest child so possibly a bit naive with the media but now their daughter is all over the place and she is only 13 or 14 and you'd imagine they'd have more sense at this stage in their lives and want better for her.

The most recent sighting of Harper Beckham I've had is touting her mother's lip liner on Instagram (just randomly on my feed before anyone starts) and looking like a 20 year old! Fgs.

pavementgerms · 20/11/2024 20:51

The Beckhams have always publicised their kids from birth. They want them to be famous and are desperate for Harper to be a makeup guru. It's very sad.

Hulahoopalaver · 20/11/2024 20:57

I don't get how the Beckham's can be happy with Brooklyn being the point of ridicule over his cooking (and I use that word loosely) when they could easily have afforded to pay for him to go to any of the first class cookery schools or kitchens in the world. It's like attention, good or bad is all that matters. Brand Beckham indeed.

I remember read this. It included any kids she had in future

Cheryl seems like a really good Mum

Shocking that she even had to take an injunction out to forbid photos being taken at hers/mates/family house. Should have been a given.

Superhansrantowindsor · 20/11/2024 21:18

Nobody should be watching films of the funeral or turn up to gawp. Grief is so raw and painful - leave the family and friends alone.

murasaki · 20/11/2024 21:19

She's done a great job of keeping his childhood private. Well done her.

EnglishBluebell · 20/11/2024 21:33

I am also raising a child who’s not had her father since she was 1 (now 9) and that’s hard enough but navigating the loss at age 7(?) I cannot begin to imagine, that poor boy and that poor mother.
If you do read this Cheryl, nothing but love & support ❤️‍🩹🙏💐

The beckhams are obsessed with money and keeping brand Beckham relevant.
They long ago trade marked Harpers name.
I'm sure all of their kids are pleasant enough but none have any discernible talent so are all set up to fail and in the public eye.

If ever there was a lesson in the reasons why you want your child to stay out of the public eye because the celebrity world uses and spits out children, and the repercussions of it, Liam is a good example. Yes he had his addictions but he was 16 (a child) when he started on his path to being a global superstar and entered a world very few can imagine or compare to. It’s very difficult to adjust when that all comes to an abrupt end.

When in his care, Louis has kept his son largely out of the media as well. I think most of the footage has come from his son’s mother or Louis’s sisters. There was a carefully controlled scene in his film with his son but it was probably more to shut up the speculation and questions about him than anything else.

I heard this morning on the news that Liam began at 14, and Simon Cowell told him to come back in two years — so that’s exactly what he did.
Even 16 sounds so very young. Terribly young.
Heartbreakingly young.
It reminds me of Judy Garland and what the movie industry did to her.
Tragic what fame can do to the innocent.

Cheryl has gone up in my estimations with how she's dealt with this. Put a simple statement out and left it at that. No sympathy attention or outbursts and there have seemingly been no leaks from anyone close to her son. The family have obviously shielded the poor young lad as much as possible from the media circus, and for once it appears the media are not encroaching on their privacy.

PassingStranger · 20/11/2024 21:48

WutheringMights · 20/11/2024 17:01

Yes, you're right about Hugh Grant - never seen his kids either.

I think it's great. Let the children decide if they want to be in the public eye when they are old enough to make an informed decision.

Pity the Beckhams didn't follow suit. Ghastly pair have promote their children at every opportunity and none of them have done anything special or inspirational in life.

Grabyourpassportandmyhand · 20/11/2024 21:56

I agree it shows they can keep their kids private if they want to. Even huge stars can do this if they want to e.g. George Clooney's kids are very very rarely to never papped. If the Clooney's can do it, anyone can.....

Yes. I wasn’t ever a fan - or a non fan, of Cheryl. However, she seems like such a decent parent and has acted with dignity and class in such horrific circumstances. No books to sell, no exclusive interviews, just being a mum and posting one respectful post. I would t wish the trappings of fame on anyone, it seems more a curse than a blessing. Poor little boy, but you just know with Cheryl, that he will be ok.

Preppingdonkey · 20/11/2024 22:00

You don’t see her all over the press & she’s pretty private now.

If a child is photographed without blurring then the parents have consented, no idea why you would tbh.

BlueFloweredMug · 20/11/2024 22:01

Hulahoopalaver · 20/11/2024 15:02

Always surprises me with any funeral of someone significantly in the public eye that there's always some random who turns up just to get their face in the paper looking at you, Damien Hurley .

That’s naive, once they are rich a lot of them socialise together..think of the odd people you’ve seen in the papers with that Virgin guy over the years.

And Angelina Jolie too. Her kids are only being photographed at events and stuff now that they are older and can choose for themselves.

pinksheetss · 20/11/2024 22:07

Apparently the family made a deal that paps could be there for photos so long as none included Bear.
All to protect his son

MyrtleStrumpet · 20/11/2024 22:15

At the hairdresser today and there was a copy of OK magazine dedicated to Liam. One picture of Bear. Cheryl and he were standing with their backs to the camera but there was a heart emoji over his head, so I think the injunction must say no pics of his head at all.

PassingStranger · 20/11/2024 22:16

Blinky21 · 20/11/2024 17:46

She's not famous enough anymore, it will change now though as interest in Bear growing up without a father increases

Why should it though. Why are people interested in him in particular weird.
Get on with your own lives.

I remember seeing lots of pics of AJ and Brad Pitt with their kids when they were young, then less so once Angelina and Brad split up and the kids would have been tween or teens

HairyToity · 21/11/2024 07:25

I thought Cheryl probably went into church through a side door with Bear, and then afterwards she left through front door, and her mum took him out through side door. I think it's wonderful she is not selling his childhood to the media.. Give him a chance at a normal childhood and normal life.. Fame isn't for everyone.

What a shame they even had to make a deal. I am glad Bear did get to be there. It's important. I initially thought they had kept him at home because of the cameras.

There’s a clip of one of the Girls Aloud members on Radio 1 (possibly with Greg James?) doing a challenge thing where they have to phone someone famous in their phone and see if they answer and she calls Cheryl, and Bear answers the phone. Let me see if I can find it…

Oh it’s not a Girls Aloud member, it’s Perrie from Little Mix (a fellow North Eastener to Cheryl). Bear sounds very sweet.

This was Perrie from Little Mix, not Girls Aloud. It was recorded before Liam's death. Bear sounds like Cheryl! 💕
