On the back of another thread, how many times a day do you poo. I am a 1- 3 times a day girl. Some posters on thread were saying it's a once a week event. Blew my mind!

OP posts:

Me. 2 a week is my norm

I can't even imagine going every day!

Looking online if you google "how often should i poop" no website says "every day"

HelpMeGetThrough · 11/11/2024 18:16

If you're only going once a week, a sneeze on day 7 must be dangerous.

Letsgotitans · 11/11/2024 18:18

Sylviacrystal · 11/11/2024 18:14

Yeah I drink loads of water.

No I don't feel ill at all.

I'm very healthy actually.

I suppose there will always be anomalies but you're generally considered constipated if you don't poo at least 3 times per week. You're obviously not concerned about anything though 🤷

buffyspikefaith · 11/11/2024 18:18

Depends. Endometriosis affects mine plus the fact I'm on codeine and morphine
Can be 4 times a day if the bowel endo flares or every other day

Theunamedcat · 11/11/2024 18:18

Usually once a day now I'm on magnesium it's twice a day

I go once a week and I feel absolutely bursting with health!
I eat healthily and I'm in a running club. And I'm in a hiking club every weekend.

Going once a week definitely doesn't mean that anything is wrong. People just have different systems. Some slower. Some faster. Neither wrong

No I'm not concerned. I just had a medical check up at work last week, and the nurse said that all of my results were really good.

I think that people's systems are just different. It could be a lot of things.

I'm very short, 5 foot 1 , so maybe it takes my body a longer time to do things

Letitgoe · 11/11/2024 18:23

For any IBS people I would suggest getting a private allergy blood test (IGE), turns out i have an allergy to a common food and cutting it out means I now poop like a normal person! It’s bloody fantastic!

BoobyDazzler · 11/11/2024 18:23

3 a day normal for me. Once every 3 day is normal for my DH.

Sylviacrystal · 11/11/2024 18:26

Seeing as we are baring all on this poo chat anyway.

The people going three times a day.

Are you just doing like little pellet sizes?

Nope, regular poo consistency and size according to Bristol stool classification etc. I don't even think it's unusual. I don't have any bowel issues I know about and stools are never loose.

Sylviacrystal · 11/11/2024 18:32

HelpMeGetThrough · 11/11/2024 17:38

And a very sore arse I would have thought.

I'd think people going four to five times a day would have a sorer arse!

I wonder how much of this depends on our diet.

Or for example if someone drank more coca cola than someone else would that speed it up it slow it doen.

If youre very healthty and im very healthy,

And you go three times a day, and i go once every five days,

I guess it's just very variable then for different people.

Delatron · 11/11/2024 18:34

I go at least once a day -usually first thing and then quite often again after coffee and a breakfast.

If I’m eating really healthily and had loads of fruits/vegetables or a green juice I may go again in the afternoon.

I’m sure I read the healthiest people go after every meal? You don’t want all that waste sitting inside you. Once a week doesn’t sound healthy- though I appreciate it’s an individual thing, medications aside.

HashtagShitShop · 11/11/2024 18:39

In the very very very rare occasion I've eaten domino's pizza the night before, it's every hour so it feels! There has to be something in them that causes domino's belly!

On average it's once or twice a day. Sometimes it can be more.

My mum has always had issues and once hadn't gone for about 9 days and turned it into an entire drama about how she wouldn't take meds and then wheb she did was so stressed and tense she fought them off and it became a whole drama that it didn't need to be. Thankfully at the end of that day she finally went to sleep and allowed what she'd taken to work but at the end point her behaviour was very worrying (like when older people have infections and it changes their behaviour. She was early 60s at the time but remained me of how her late 80s dad got with dementia and urine infections almost!) so yes! Always pay attention to your gut health and try make things easy on yourself and go as regularly as you can.

I go about once a week, and having all that waste inside me doesn't seem to be doing me any harm.

I had a medical check up at work last week, and she said that my vital signs were great, and my bloods were great.

Never thought I'd get poo envy but seriously I would cut the tip of my pinky off to be able to poo to a decent schedule like once a day at 2pm or something.

I've been eating one Kiwi a day ( plus other fiberous foods ) since January this year and it hasn't improved my bowel movements at all, being constipated is a miserable condition to be in, the other end of the brown spectrum isn't any better though.

Try the juice of a quarter lemon in half a glass of water to start the day or last thing at night, it helps me when I have mild constipation.

greengreyblue · 11/11/2024 18:42

Once like clockwork in the morning most of the time, sometimes twice.

Sylviacrystal · 11/11/2024 18:50

I remember i took a fibre supplement from a health shop once. I was just trying different health things.

It made me poo every day. But the poo was watery and small, and I felt worse doing it. So I stopped

My grandads beautician lady (would go do his nails at his house) recommended gently rubbing your stomach when you wake for a few minutes in a clockwise movement and drinking psyllium husks in water after stirring them for a good 30 seconds (don't let it sit though or it'll resemble wallpaper paste) I think fibeogel or whatever it's called is the same thing but in a more pallitable flavour

Mydahliasareshit · 11/11/2024 18:57

About an hour after every meal, so 2-3 times a day.
I think red wine helps to keep it all jollying along as well.
Ginger tea in the morning with lemon works great.

I was alarmed back in the day when it was reported at his autopsy John Wayne had 40 pounds of waste in his colon.
He did eat a lot of meat though apparently.

Joycedelight · 11/11/2024 18:58

Yeah I drink loads of water.

Same here. I intermittent fast, have always drunk loads of water. Eat very healthy, exercise 6 times a week and poo 2 or 3 times a week.
Surely pooing a lot signifies you're fueling your body with waste that it doesn't need (ie eating unhealthily) so it's chucking out waste more?

Interesting. I don't drink alcohol really.

Maybe people that drink more alcohol, poo more?

Hi! Nice to meet a similar person!

Yea I agree, if you're pooing more isn't it because your body needs to get rid of more waste. So maybe your diet is worse.

Whereas if you are healthier, you have less waste thst the body needs to get rid of quickly.

TeaAndBizcuitz · 11/11/2024 19:02

Before I found a medication that actually worked, about once per week (I have UC). Now once a day, twice on a good day.
