Three poos a day

On the back of another thread, how many times a day do you poo. I am a 1- 3 times a day girl. Some posters on thread were saying it's a once a week event. Blew my mind!

I’d struggle to shower in the office, at the train station, out for dinner …. I’m guessing you don’t have too much of an imagination if you have to wonder about it too much.

Yeah i would never feel the need to shower after a poo either.

Sorry to be graphic but we are on a poo thread!

You can definitely get everything off with two - three dry wipes. Then if you want to be extra clean you can always dampen the tissue and do one final wet wipe.

There is no need for a shower after a poo!

Everyone is different and as long as your movements are normal for you personally then it's fine.

I'm a once a day morning movement kind of person. Occasional second one after a large meal late afternoon/early evening but that's rare.

I find it quite satisfying having a nice big poo. So I think I'd feel very uncomfortable if I only went once a week. I do know some people who are maybe three times a week. I'd say, the more the merrier! I'd much rather have diarrhea than constipation. Obviously neither is fun!

But as long as you're comfortable and consistent then it's just how fast your bowels and digestion works.

Me too!
My usual rate is 3 times, but can be up to 5 or 6, depending on what I have or haven't eaten!
My goings are also unpredictable, have had 3 days of textbook poos and "no wipes" and this morning I've just done my 3rd and it's not even 10am! I can't keep up!!!
My friend stayed at the weekend and could hardly eat anything on Saturday night, as she hadn't been for 7 days!!! What the hell is that about?! 🤣

Yes I can't understand all these people only going once a day or even less. I mean I sit on the toilet to pee and if "more" comes then it comes! Always been like that.

Why can't you understand?

When I go to sit on the toilet, I don't need to poo, so I don't. I only poo when I need to which is about twice a week

Medics don't say that at all.

Medics say that 3 times a day to 3 times a week Is within the average normal range.

So anyone going more than three times a day, is not within the normal range.

They may be totally fine. But just to clarify -that is not what medics say is a normal range.

Has it occurred to you that there is different info online or from different medics?

You cannot get 100% clean with dry toilet paper.
If you use wet wipes afterwards you'll see what you missed.
And it also depends on your anatomy and consistency of the poo.
If someone has piles, there's a greater area to wipe and dry paper doesn't do the job.

I agreed with you, i said two - three dry wipes gets a lot and then if you want to be extra clean you can do one more wet wipe with wet tissue paper, to get everything.

No one needs to have a shower after a poo. If they want to it's fine .

But one poster said that she couldn't believe that people didn't have a shower after every single poo

1 wet wipe doesn't work for me.
I usually need 4 / 5 wet wipes. I carry a pack in my bag all the time. Depends on the consistency of the poo to be honest.

If we're at home, DP likes to shower afterwards as he has a very hairy body and doesn't feel even wet wipes do the job.
TMI I know!

Sorry - was not meaning to sound upset! Just read some other people saying that and was agreeing. In a way I agree with you too - when I sit on the toilet I don't ALWAYS need to do more than pee (and if I'm at work I don't intend to) but often I do!

No, you can't. I had to shower and change my knickers in the last few months because it didn't come off in a few dry wipes and I thought it had. Luckily, my IBS only rarely throws me that kind of poonami and I was working from home that day.

OK you have IBS so that's different, of course.

2/3 times a day. If I don’t do that and feel a bit backed up, I find eating a whole grapefruit before bed re-sets the situation!!

If we're healthy and not suffering with it then it's fine

Bowel cancer takes decades to develop.

The 'healthy' amount of fibre is 30gms a day minimum.
Almost no one in the UK gets to that level.

Not eating enough fibre is a risk for bowel cancer because all the time poo is in your colon it's festering away with bacteria.

Fibre also reduces cholesterol .

To get 30gms a day that means lots of wholegrains - bread, cereal, pasta, rice,
at least 5 fruits and veg, pulses, beans, nuts, etc.

The daily poo-rate is called fast or slow transit time.
Once or twice a week is very slow.

Ah right I didn't know slow digestion was linked to bowel cancer, very interesting thanks
