I'm sorry but some the comments on that link are hilarious 'Gary Barlow asking his son for a cuddle'

It’s not positive though, is it? Nobody is saying he looks gorgeous or hot. They think he looks “massive”. Nobody wants to be “massive” or “giant”. It’s just not a kind thing to say about anybody. Overweight is a choice the vast majority of the time.

There is clearly more than a 6-in difference.

My son is 6’4 and I’m 5’10. I have a very similar photo to this one, I look short and dumpy. I got lots of similar jokes, because I look so tiny in comparison and everyone who has ever met me knows I’m not.

I haven’t seen anyone mention his weight. The joke is the height difference, not this young lad.

I said this too. I reckon Gary is a couple of inches shorter than he claims, and his son is a couple of inches taller. So Gary is 5 ft 6 - and his son is 6 ft 4.

I think he has grown since the last pictures of him came out and he is probably quite a bit taller than 6’2’’. Also Gary might have shrunk a bit with age or was never as tall as he claimed.

They always put me between my brothers so I look short. Everyone thinks it's hilarious, especially when I'm wearing bare feet or flats. It's like two giants and hobbit, and makes them look really tall and me really short.

It's a family joke (because I'm not short, they're just tall), just like my brother always leans on my shoulder and pats me on the head. People who are tall don't get offended when they are told they are giants.

It seems some on here really are mood hoovers and get offended on others behalf.

6’2” is tall but hardly so tall that anyone would remark on it ?
It is an odd camera angle I think + Gary Barlow is only about 5’7 “ .
So neither of them are an unusual height 🙄
I am quite small but still a reasonable height for a woman , and get fed up with comments about being short 🙄

Speaking as a tall woman I can say I am offended when someone describes me as a giant. And that goes for all the tall males in my family too. If a tall person isn’t offended by being called a giant then they’re absolutely bored to death by the height comments. I find it hard to take from a smaller to average height person like you that tall people aren’t offended by being called a giant. You arent in a position to tell me how I feel.

I would happily be referred to as a "giant" rather than a short arse or a midget! I used to be 5'3.5" but I've shrunk as I've got older and am probably now 5'2"! I hate being short!!

You don't speak for every tall person so can't tell me how people I know feel. If they were offended by it they wouldn't do it.

Ok. Every time you call a tall person a giant and they smile politely just know that inside they are rolling their eyes at you. Or just don’t comment on people’s appearance for a laugh at all. just go through the thread and read other tall peoples opinions. Might make you think before you do another hilarious tall joke to a tall person.

I’ve seen them both a few times and would have put Gary at 5ft 8 and Mark at 5ft 6.
