I cook it like that, easier to chop when it's all cooked.

Tristar15 · 02/11/2024 20:52

You roast it!! Don’t boil it!!

twomanyfrogsinabox · 02/11/2024 20:52

I assume the stalk will still be tough when the head is falling to pieces.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 02/11/2024 20:52

This is completely incorrect

SoYouThinkYouCanPrance · 02/11/2024 20:53

Outrageous

I'd only ever had it boiled or steamed til I ate at someone's house and they'd roast it with lemon zest and seasalt! Soooo good!

NunyaBeeswax · 02/11/2024 20:57

Listen, the only way to cook broccoli is pretty simple.

Put on a pan.
Lightly salt it.
Bring it to the boil.
Place broccoli on chopping board.
Using a sharp knife, dial pizza hut, throw broccoli away and use the lightly salted water to scrub your floors.
This is the tastiest way, trust me.

Edited

Is it crunchy? I can’t stand crunchy vegetables and like them cooked. I want to try this but scared of the crunchiness 😂

FergusSingsTheBIues · 02/11/2024 20:59

You're probably eating it wrong too. The best part is the stem. Cut off the florets and eat those as normal, but then 'shave' the stem so only the white inner bit is left and eat that raw.

You'll thank me :)

BookGoblin · 02/11/2024 21:00

@FlingFlong pls never invite me for dinner 😂

DoMiraculousThingsWithBroccoli · 02/11/2024 21:01

Broccoli should be roasted or stir fried.

BuffaloCauliflower · 02/11/2024 21:01

Yes I have cooked broccoli like this, you cut from the stalk once cooked. Little bits don’t go everywhere from cutting uncooked but not sure it makes much other difference and I don’t do it all the time.

InfoSecInTheCity · 02/11/2024 21:03

@HolidayNanny try it roasted with olive oil and garlic or finely chopped chilli. Delicious.

I always steam it whole and cut it up after it is cooked.

Lifeomars · 02/11/2024 21:15

I made broccoli and cheese soup in my slow cooker today. I chopped it all up, including the stalk, bung it in the slow cooker, add a chopped leek, onion, grated carrot, garlic, and vegetable stock, and cook on high for 4 hours. Then, stir in some grated cheese and thick Greek yoghurt and blend with a stick blender. This is the First time I have made it, and it is bloody gorgeous, even though I say so myself.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 02/11/2024 21:15

I boil it too.

Sometimes I fry onions, add the boiled broccoli and add grated cheese. That’s amazing

Lifeomars · 02/11/2024 21:16

Broccoli should be roasted or stir fried.

love it in a stir fry

NorthantsNewbie · 02/11/2024 21:16

@bifurCAT are you my DH? He does it with cauliflower too.

I wish. My DP like cauliflower, I would if I could!

It's the same plant though, so can't see why not!

itsmylife7 · 02/11/2024 21:19

🥦 must be steamed and never put in water.
Steamed is the only way 😉
