@Crumpetdisappointment I try to remember to either eat it or prep and freeze it the day I get it home for that reason.

There are at leas 20 ways of cooking brocoli, none right, non wrong. However the stem is completely differnet to the florets. They need 2 different methods, or cooking times.
My personal favourite is dry frying the florets, and then adding cheese.
Stem is usually put into a soup via the pressure cooker.

Roast it if you’re oven is on anyway , if not separate and steam , cheaper tbh
nb cold roast broccoli is great with dressing

I simply steam it until it is barely cooked, cool quickly in iced water and then pan fry in butter just before we eat it. It will keep for a while before you fry it.
I think that this is what many restaurants do, using tenderstem broccoli.

I would never cook broccoli without giving it a good rinse. I once found a tiny worm between the florets and had I not rinsed it properly, it would have ended up being cooked with the broccoli 🤢 I now examine it very carefully whilst I rinse it before cooking.

Yikes it’s easy. Don’t cook broccoli 😄 My uncle once grew purple sprouting broccoli and we had it non stop for a month. I will never touch it again.

I found a large spider in my broccoli once. I cut open the plastic packaging and it crawled out onto my chopping board. It was one of those with thin long legs.

Ever since that episode, I always wash ALL veg, salads even washed and pre-packaged veg/salads.. although I don't buy these regularly cos they're expensive.

Give veg a good soak and wash, that will kill any insects. I wouldn't have expected livestock in bagged supermarket veg but it obviously does happen from what I've read here.
