Share some historical MN dilemmas and stories.
What kind of posts do you think we would be reading if MN was around in the good old days of yore?

Looking for style advice.

Utterly fed up with wearing silk dresses to the office for work so got my dressmaker to rustle up a little cotton number (channelling my inner shepherdess).

Its so light and comfy but I’ve been pulled up by HR telling me it’s inappropriate and many colleagues/staff/minions have complained saying it looks like underwear and shows disrespect for my (admittedly senior) position at work.

I just think they are out of touch and frankly jealous that I can pull this look off.

What say you?

Picture attached (edited for privacy).

p.s. still waiting for feedback on my cake post.

It's lovely. The galleon in full sail perched on your head before you adopted this new style was un petit ...much.

I think you need to accessorise with a piece of jewellery. I hear Cardinal Rohan is selling some diamonds....

Or you can pop over to my place?

If you’re near Paris I’ve got a pretty nice gaff on the outskirts and plenty of 🍾 and 🍰 for all!

p.s. dress codes apply
p.p.s. Titles required

It has unto my ears that the innkeeper dost serve a fine malmsey wine. I will don my finest Wimple and mine cote and meet you at Squire McDonald's eatinge place afore we saunter down to the inne.
I fear that wanton woman from the Manor will cavort on the tables and will entreat us to sing for our supper.

Nice panelling @Sharrilanda ! Didst thou go forth to B and Q ?

FuzzyPuffling · 30/08/2025 20:49

What apparel! What finery! Verily John of Lewis hath outdone himself with your vestments.
I be too ashamed to join thee in my hopsack outfit with hemp trimmings.

SinnerBoy · 30/08/2025 22:08

An hopsack, forsooth? Hark at thou with thy la di dah lady of two manors ways. I wager thou cavil at thy mere subsistence of five and twenty score of groats each quarter!

MrsMoastyToasty · 30/08/2025 23:20

Has anyone seen @Sharrilanda ? I was having speech with yon innkeeper and I saw her go outside with a younge stable lad...

everywhichway · 31/08/2025 08:27

Hast thou tried the stable?

Giggorata · 31/08/2025 15:09

Good morrow, gentle ladies, it is indeed a pleasure to consorte again with wonne and all!
I have long been wishing to inquire, am I set apart from reason when I insiste that mynne husband remove his bootes that are mired in clod and shite when he comes home of a night and enters our hovel?
He in turn will exclaim that since the flores are themselves made of mudde, that I am being too exacting in this matter.
I know not how to rejoin, (apart from mayhap placing the ordure in his hatte)

I should serve the ordure up to him for his supper and telle him that it is of the same stuffe as his plattern - just the plattern is in a different state of being.

Ye alchemists will back you up on altered states. Verily, I know that their discoveries are being viewed with much suspicion by ye Church but I believe they have much to offer a moderne, forward-thinking matron (although, I must admit that I am not yette convinced by ye Philosopher's Stone. Nicolas Flamel let me see it in return for a glimpse down mine bodice but I have to say, it just looked like an olde rock to me).

MrsMoastyToasty · 31/08/2025 21:41

@Giggorata but the mudde in thine dwelling place is "naice mudde ". Put some rushes on the floore to keepe thy toes warme.
About yester eve . ..I have no memory of returning to mine humble home. Didst I act the fool?

everywhichway · 31/08/2025 22:03

Wouldst that the rest of us had no memory of you last eve either....

MrsMoastyToasty · 31/08/2025 22:14

Perchance my meade was spike-d.
