Equivalent to a Teddy for a 36 year old?

I have had a fairly tough year and really benefit from a weighted blanket on top of my duvet when I go to bed. I’m single, and wondered if there’s anything else on the market that could help me feel safe, snuggly and cocooned when I go to bed? Last night I ended up looking up teddys but thought perhaps there’s something else I could go for. Thanks ❤️‍🩹

I use a hot water bottle. Can’t sleep without it.
i used to have a full body pillow as well until we moved and i lost it.

King Charles has loads of teddies, according to Spare, and he's considerably older than you. They definitely can be comforting, at any age. Go with your instincts about what will make you feel better.

Treat yourself to a squishmallow. Very tactile and huggable, available in loads of different designs. If you would prefer something a bit less squishy and abstract, Living Nature does lovely stuffed animals but they are more expensive. But honestly, squishmallows are lovely.

The really.big ones are on sale in B&M at the moment too

How about an electric blanket, lovely and cosy to get into!

ItReallyDoesntMatterAnymore · 27/10/2024 10:22

Ikea Sharks are great for this (I've been known to borrow DD's for a cuddle)
Long cat (like a long sausage) soft toy, come in lengths up to 1.3 meters. Amazon do them.

Squishmallow or Squishy pals are good but shape is a bit round so the shark or long cat might be better to spoon cuddle!

IroningThrone · 27/10/2024 10:22

You need a big snuggly boy cat. Mine loves to squish me!

ParisGellerFTW · 27/10/2024 10:24

This sound so daft but the best sleep I ever had was when my DC were babies/toddlers and cosleeping in my bed every night. When my youngest moved into his own bed, I missed him so much I bought myself a Jellycat teddy bear to cuddle. He's a hulking teenager now and I still have the bear!

It's not hurting anyone, so I say go for it

Elzzup · 27/10/2024 10:29

Have you seen Hugimals? Also big pregnancy cushion like previously suggested. Heated throw. Is there any way you could get a cat? I couldn't live without mine.

Livinginaclock · 27/10/2024 10:30

I have an electric blanket, a pregnancy pillow and a Teddy, I need all the comfort.

Needmorelego · 27/10/2024 10:32

I love Squishmallows.
I definitely sleep better if I am hugging one.

buffyspikefaith · 27/10/2024 11:24

I have a squish mallow which I use if I'm sleeping on my side

buffyspikefaith · 27/10/2024 11:25

Oh and a cat, he sleeps under the duvet wedged against my back usually

jannier · 27/10/2024 11:38

Pregnancy pillow maybe

kitsuneghost · 27/10/2024 11:42

I love a squishem

There are lots of sort of country fairs on around this time of year - when I was a child we went to one of these and got some big cat-shaped things made of fleece which were filled with wheat and dried lavender. You microwaved them to warm them up and they would release this lovely comforting sort of pastry-and-lavender scent as well as being warm and the weight of them. I've never found another heatable wheat/cherry stone bag to be quite as good as these. I think they were home made and I would definitely scour that kind of place to find another one because I really miss mine!

Just get the Teddy bear! I have many!!, I even have one who comes with me on days out or if I'm feeling particularly anxious, he's pocket sized so goes in my coat pocket! We have many photos of him enjoying his days to the zoo and more, dds also have pocket pals too! 😊

I also wear my oodie now the temperature is dropping which feels heavy and almost like a hug!

I recommend palm pals as a cheaper alternative to jellycats, they are super soft! I do prefer a smaller soft toy though!

How much room have you got @Northernlightx

Maybe this?

Someone on the Ikea thread a couple weeks ago said they loved this big life sized bear. Even the most recent review is from a woman who bought this bear for herself when she emotionally needed to feel hugged and it helped her immensely. Sometimes you just need that. Treat yourself!

When my friend got a new puppy that was struggling with being separated from his mum and siblings, I bought him one of those teddy-type things that is heated and has a heartbeat. Apparently the puppy settled straight away on that, and after a couple of weeks he didn't need it any longer so my friend took it for herself!

Milkbottlewaffle · 27/10/2024 14:28

I bought one of these cushions to go on my bed, and really love how it feels to have my head laid on it. I’ve also bought Teddy bedding and I’ve been sleeping so much better lately!

This made me laugh out loud 😂 I’m not sure he’s the first person I look to for inspiration but it’s a good start!

I'm a grown up and I have a soft toy goat I sleep with. I won it at an arcade - its face is really cute and it's got lots of different textures to fiddle with - I find it very comforting. My mom has a cuddly sloth she strokes in the evenings, and my teenage daughter has a seagull she takes to bed. I think it's relatively common even for adults to still like cuddling a soft toy.

Find one that appeals and treat yourself?

coffeesaveslives · 27/10/2024 15:03

I'll be 36 in December and still sleep with a teddy bear!

I'm currently house-sitting for work and he was the first thing I packed Grin
