Equivalent to a Teddy for a 36 year old?

I have had a fairly tough year and really benefit from a weighted blanket on top of my duvet when I go to bed. I’m single, and wondered if there’s anything else on the market that could help me feel safe, snuggly and cocooned when I go to bed? Last night I ended up looking up teddys but thought perhaps there’s something else I could go for. Thanks ❤️‍🩹

There’s no replacement for a teddy, get one if it will be a comfort to you, it doesn’t matter how old you are.

Hoglet70 · 27/10/2024 07:25

A hot water bottle to cuddle is always nice but I do still have a teddy bear in my bed too as I just like cuddling it.

Holidaysarecomingocthalfterm · 27/10/2024 07:26

Get one of those microwvable warmies or a pregnancy pillow for snuggling into in bed.

DatingDinosaur · 27/10/2024 07:26

A cushion or pillow? Sprayed with a nice scent or relaxing/uplifting essential oil.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 27/10/2024 07:27

A JellyCat toy, if the cuteness does it for you?

Do whatever brings you comfort OP.

A hot water bottle for me! The weight and the warmth really help when my anxiety is bad.

UtterlyOtterly · 27/10/2024 07:27

Get a really cuddly teddy. There's nothing wrong in an adult having one 🐻

Newuser75 · 27/10/2024 07:28

I've seen these stitch teddies that kind of breathe. Meant to be good for people with anxiety!

FoFanta · 27/10/2024 07:29

Treat yourself to a squishmallow. Very tactile and huggable, available in loads of different designs. If you would prefer something a bit less squishy and abstract, Living Nature does lovely stuffed animals but they are more expensive. But honestly, squishmallows are lovely.

This is them.

I've got all the above, and remain completely catatonic until March Grin

plus I've just added a heated fleece blanket to my kit, so I can get into simmer-mode after coming in from the garden in the dismally cold afternoons.

That’s so cute until the middle of the night when I forget it’s there and freak out that there’s something breathing and moving in my bed 😂

StamppotAndGravy · 27/10/2024 07:35

An ikea plush shark. As big as a pillow to cuddle. There's an ironic squishy shark in every millennial home so no one will ever know if you take it to bed.

I still have my teddy. I'm a bit worried the new baby might try to steal it.

Dontknowwhattodo223 · 27/10/2024 07:37

I've got a teddy. My granny bought it for me when I was 6. It brings me lots of comfort as I still miss her.

Newuser75 · 27/10/2024 08:05

@Scrunchanddone 😂🙈

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 27/10/2024 08:12

A dog 😂. Although a hot water bottle is the cheaper and less demanding option!

QueSyrahSyrah · 27/10/2024 08:21

Get a teddy if you want a teddy OP! I was in my mid-30s and coming out of a terrible but thankfully short lived marriage when I went to Disneyland for an event. I spotted a decent sized Eeyore in the gift shop that for some reason really spoke to my heart, so I bought him and he stayed on/in my bed until better times. No shame!

Cosycore · 27/10/2024 08:23

OP. I was having a really tough time and I treated myself to a teddy from Build A Bear. It had a heart beat and I took it to bed for months because it made me feel better. Not ashamed to admit it.

Mxflamingnoravera · 27/10/2024 08:56

A pregnancy cushion? It's like a big sausage that you cocoon yourself in. I use one for sleeping comfortably with back pain. I'll find one and link it.

Mxflamingnoravera · 27/10/2024 08:59

One of these? I love mine.

DD used to have a pregnancy pillow to snuggle up to. When that died, I bought a cheap duvet, rolled it up longways to make a sausage and stitched it to hold it's shape and my clever mum modified a duvet cover to fit. DD can use it to wrap around her like a nest and sleeps much better ( and it was much cheaper than another pregnancy body pillow).

reelcat · 27/10/2024 09:47

Get the teddy! Jelly cat bunnies are lovely to snuggle and their is no age limit on comfort!

BabyCloud · 27/10/2024 09:48

My friend swears by a pregnancy pillow. He’s a single 30 something man 😂
