Do you believe in guardian "angels"?

To be clear, I'm an atheist. Don't believe in ghosts etc. But I have always felt that something "unworldly" was looking after me, particularly when I was in my 20s. It sounds nuts I know. Can't really explain why I feel this way. Maybe I've just been lucky in certain aspects, particularly education and work.

I've been having a really tough time lately (bereavement, anxiety etc). And decided to try and tap into that feeling again

I'm currently selling a house. It's not getting any viewings (about 3 in 2 months). It's getting me down in a bad way. Whilst I was walking my dog, I asked out loud that when I returned home I would like the estate agent to email with a viewing. Got home, sat down with phone. About 30 seconds later an email notification popped up for a viewing. First one for ages. Just a coincidence I suppose.

Two days later I was driving to a car boot sale and I asked out loud that I would like to find a particular collection of vintage books. When I got to the boot sale it was really small. But there on one stall was a box of these books in mint condition (50p each). I couldn't believe it.

Again probably a coincidence but do you believe in guardian angels or something like that?

No I definitely believe in a guardian angel.

1questionfromme · 20/10/2024 21:31

I completely believe in what you're saying. I'm not sure I'd call it a guardian angel but it's definitely a thing that I've found where I've asked for help or for an answer toll something and it's appeared. I always thank whoever / whatever it is that looks after me and has made things happen for me. I think of it as the universe looking after me because what I wanted must also have been the right thing for someone else. Not sure if this makes sense but I believe in the concept of what you're saying definitely being true.

Nope.

I sometimes feel looked after in the way you have described. I like to believe and ask out loud for help when I feel vulnerable. I'd feel too silly to tell anyone in real life though.

Eyesopenwideawake · 20/10/2024 21:40

No. I believe in myself and other humans. Seems to work ;)

BitOutOfPractice · 20/10/2024 21:41

Im glad of it helps you op but no, I don’t believe

Elphame · 20/10/2024 21:42

I wouldn’t call them guardian angels but yes. I definitely have something looking out for me.

My mother has a genuine belief in guardian angels. She can quote various incidents when she feels that her guardian has looked after her.
It’s not a belief that I share but I completely respect hers.

Lollypop701 · 20/10/2024 21:45

Yes I do, and you do as you do the things that do. Not every thing in life is explainable

1WanderingWomble · 20/10/2024 21:47

Yes, I do. And I've definitely experienced being protected in ways u can't explain.

PashaMinaMio · 20/10/2024 21:49

Yes I believe the universe can help us. I also believe in manifestation.
Im not sure about guardian angels but I know one time many years ago I was very worried about something so I prayed, and afterwards felt like a massive weight had lifted from my shoulders. Everything turned out ok so I’m sure an angel listened to my prayer and helped me.,

Itssodark · 20/10/2024 21:49

Yes I believe in them. But i think the references you make are coincidences.

I believe a guardian angel will do things like help you avoid something that could kill you ie avoiding the wrong place at the wrong time. I think they give you the strength you need to do difficult things like give up smoking for example.

I think that sometimes things happen for a reason (but not always).

MissyB1 · 20/10/2024 21:50

Yes I do and have called on them many times, but only for very serious situations. I always say mine works overtime! I was brought up catholic so guardian angels were a concept we understood and believed in. I'm not particularly religious these days, but I can't deny my guardian angel looks out for me and helps me find a way out of danger.

Jifmicroliquid · 20/10/2024 21:55

A few times I have felt my car brake pedal be pushed more than I am pushing it, if that makes sense. Like I can feel someone else push it while my foot is on it.
I don’t believe in guardian angels, but it always makes me wonder what on earth is going on.

Bullaun · 20/10/2024 21:57

No, those were two nice coincidences. Good luck with the tough stuff.

Bosabosa · 20/10/2024 22:08

I have had two really strong feelings in my life that I couldn't ignore. One am almost certain made me change my direction walking and stopped me being attacked. The other time I absolutely had to ensure a certain person got home safe and I physically couldn't rest until she did. It was an absolute feeling of dread which only lifted as I got her home. So yes, I believe.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 20/10/2024 22:15

Yes absolutely.

I've asked for
Help with My Dd and received
It.

I've also been helped in a tricky medical situation and absolutely am sure someone up a higher force was sending me a helping hand

Noseylittlemoo · 20/10/2024 22:42

I definitely believe I have met guardian angels on 2 occasions that have saved me from danger.
The first instance was over 20 years ago. I was young and physically and mentally fragile. I had been standing eating an ice cream when I thought a man was staring at me. I tried to tell myself I was imagining it and carried on going into a big supermarkèt and then into a big Blockbuster video store. A young woman approached me in the video store saying sorry to alarm you but a man followed you and is watching and waiting outside. I looked and saw the same man. I was terrified and didnt know what to do! But then the woman came back and said' We're really worried about you. how are you getting home ? My boyfriend can give you a lift.' I was so relieved I got in the car with them but 5 min down the road panicked that I'd got in a car with strangers. I just said please can you drop me here and they did . But I'm convinced they saved me from something sinister.

The second time was 5 years ago . I had a car accident on the motorway. It was busy but still moving at full speed when I got hit by a lorry. My car span out of control over several lanes and into the crash barriers. A car behind stopped on the hard shoulder. The people in the car helped me out of my car and calmed me down before calling police. I wasn't physically hurt and no other cars were affected despite the speed and volume of traffic. I'm sure that they were angels protecting me and the other car drivers.

northernsouldownsouth · 20/10/2024 22:56

I definitely think I have a guardian angel. Sometimes things happen that don't make sense or annoy me at the time .... but they seem to happen for a reason. I'm not religious but if I was, I'd say God moves in mysterious ways.

My strangest experience was when I was at a party in my 20s. I was standing at the top of the stairs, drunk, when I somehow fell. I went head over heels and landed firmly on my feet at the bottom, like a gymnast. There was a curve mark on the stairs wall where my boots had marked it as I'd flipped over. I'm not particularly athletic and certainly have never done gymnastics. I think my guardian angel assisted a safe landing. I could have done myself a serious injury.

LadyLolaRuben · 20/10/2024 23:00

Yes i do believe there's something, an angel, a force, something.

In desperation a few times I've surrendered all fight within me exhausted. Then vocally or very clearly thought about what I needed. On the handful of times I've done it, it's come true each time - in hours and some in days.

One Boxing Day morning when I was 19 a tv programme was on in the living room. It was on in the background and I was dipping in and out of it as I was talking to guests staying over for Christmas. The programme was about the magic of Xmas and guardian angels. At one point I thought to myself "if they exist, prove it". I then went for a shower. I'll never forget it, it was 11am. I got out of the shower and turned to the usual place where my toothbrush was kept. It was missing. I never found that toothbrush. I've never lost a toothbrush before or since...

Oh! I'm not sure about angels but I'm totally open to it, I'm a big Jesus fan and I think He helps me out loads 😀 but I can imagine His workload gets a lot so he delegates to His angels 😊

In case this sounds sarcastic it's really not 🙈 I'm a big Jesus fan and always open to learning more about God ❤️

I love your story OP. Thank you for sharing. I've got an ongoing problem at the moment and your post is a reminder that I need to think clearly and loudly about the result I need.
