Just heard on the news abroad he fell from the third floor off a hotel in Buenos Aires, if true it's very sad as he was so young and seemed like a lovely guy

Well said and it's right.

But Robbie Williams hasn't exactly been kind to people himself. I read a good few stories of him treating women like absolute shit.

But we don’t actually know if these stories are true or not do we? Even if they are true, we don’t know what pain they are in and what makes them behave this way. Robbie certainly had his demons, fortunately he managed to turn his life around. He could have easily ended up like poor Liam.

And apparently he was being mocked relentlessly online and on the Daily Mail for being cringey and David Brent like.

What's wrong with being David Brent like?

The stories that I read weren't written by the women themselves.

I read a book written by a man who worked on tour with Robbie Williams.

He said that Robbie used to that women like absolute shit. He said that Robbie would make fun of the women that he slept with, and give them disgusting nicknames.

I'm just saying it's a bit much for Robbie Williams to say "be kind" when he has been cruel to loads of people

Did anyone see the new photos of Liam in the lobby just before he died.

A woman staying there talked to him and took photos of him.

He doesn't look completely out of it?

Have you read the article though? She explains what happened.

Yes If I've seen the pictures within an article, of course I've read the article.

Mrsdoyler · 18/10/2024 14:11

That woman in the article doesnt make sense.

The woman in the article said that she knew who Liam was when she was in he hotel with him, but she said that she wasnt bothered at all about who he was.

If she wasnt bothered, Then why was she taking photos of him in the lobby of the hotel?

In what way doesn't he look out of it? What's he supposed to look like? Being out of it can show itself in loads of different ways, and they can go from one extreme to the other very quickly

Does anyone think it's weird that the hotel staff phoned & said he might fall off the balcony? That's a weird assumption unless the balcony was unstable or he was walking on it dangerously I don't know, it just seems an odd thing to say. They said he was behaving erratically & breaking things in the room, it makes me think there was some sort of altercation with staff

I don’t understand why the hotel staff didn’t go in the room if they were concerned about him? They could have stopped this happening but didn’t.

That’s really not fair to say, it’s not the hotel staffs fault. You can expect low paid hospitality staff to go into a room with an (apparently) violent man full of drink and drugs. All they could do is call the police which they did do.

Would you put yourself at risk for minimum wage? I certainly wouldn’t enter a room with someone who was smashing that room up whilst off their face in drugs and alcohol. It’s dangerous for the person intervening; that’s why they called the police.

And @Nextdoor55 have you ever worked in a hotel or even a rooftop bar? When someone gets out of control, the balcony is considered a risk. If you have to call in outside help, you inform them off the balcony access because it’s a known danger and bumps up the priority.

Kaiserchief · 18/10/2024 15:11

A couple of burly blokes could have gone in. I know plenty of people who would step in I think. If you’re that concerned about him, do something about it.

Is there a pay amount where people would do this? I’ve seen someone working in a supermarket tackle a shoplifter, physically, and be swung at, while other shops I’ve seen assistants stand around & let them do it. I guess it comes down to the individual person & what type of person you are, rather than what you’re paid.

It’s not their job. If someone choose to risk themselves then that’s up to them, but no boss is going to order any employee to put themselves in that situation just because they are “big and burly.”
Of course staff let shoplifters go on with it; they don’t want to get hit or stabbed. It’s not worth their life.
Police are paid to put themselves into those situations. Hotel staff are not. They are also not trained for it and won’t have any kind of protection from being sued if they injure someone.

Very easy to sit in your armchair and blame minimum wage hotel staff because they’re wouldn’t contain a violent drunk off his face in drugs and wrecking his room, but I doubt you’d be going through that door.

Well it's just the way they described him as "totally out of it" at that point, and he's standing totally straight, and then just sitting using his laptop.

it dlesnt seem to correlate.

Maybe she just got photos of him at a quiet moment. And there were other times when he was stumbling round

haven't you seen pictures of amy Winehouse looking clearly out of it. There's photos of her when shes out of it, on drugs and drink. She can't keep her head up straight and her posture is falling over.

They aren't trained professionals to deal with somebody having this kind of episode! He may have been violent to then, they may have escalated the situation.

Twonewcats · 18/10/2024 15:20

Bloody hell, the suggestions that hotel staff could have stopped this is insulting to them and to addicts.

The staff have a hotel full of guests to consider, as well as the fact there were possibly fans outside that security had to keep out, as well as all the other things they had to do as a result of him being so unpredictable and dangerous. They had minutes at most to do something, so they did what they could and also phoned police. They handled it extremely well, imo

Have u seen someone in real life who is "out of it", or are you basing your comments on photos of pop stars which the tabloids have chosen to publish, ie when they're looking at their worst?

My son could go from being totally mellow to completely kicking off in a split second.

If he was physically kicking off, I'd never go near him as he was a danger to everyone inc himself.

Yes I have seen people "out of it" in real life.

That's only one of the things in the article that I said doesn't completely add up.

The other thing I pointed out was:

The woman in the article said that she was in the same hotel as liam.

She said "I knew who he was but i wasn't bothered about who he was at all".

Yet she took photos of him while he was sitting on a couch, and while he was walking to a lift.

If she wasnt bothered about who he was, why was she taking loads of photos of him?

You'll therefore realise that they are extremely unpredictable and a few photos could show many different aspects of their condition.

I replied before you had edited it.

I wouldn't be bothered by a celebrity but might well take photos of them, to be fair.

There's a photo of him on the laptop with an email on the screen.
