Just heard on the news abroad he fell from the third floor off a hotel in Buenos Aires, if true it's very sad as he was so young and seemed like a lovely guy

Agree lots of people die. We only know about liam payne because he was on x factor etc.
What a out all the other people who died yesterday.
Lots of children sadly lose their parents too.

No one is saying he was the only person to die yesterday, and the only person we should care about.

But this is a thread about Liam. So don’t be surprised that people are talking about him.

Always sad that someone has died but young addicts die every single day and most of them haven’t had the chances this man had. I don’t get people saying that they’ve been ‘thinking about him and feeling terribly sad’ all day. Just bizarre

A celebrity can also have an impact on your life. Music is powerful. A song can take you back to a memory, and exactly how you felt at the time. 1D were massive, their popularity was far reaching, and most of their fan base were teen girls, who look back at being in that fandom with fond memories as it formed a large part of their lives. Alot of these young girls are now in their 20's, are parents themselves. They grew up with the music and the fandom being important to thee, and can now relate to him as a young father leaving behind their child.

Yes addicts die daily, but they havent had the impact on a person a celebrity may have had.

Its ok for a person to feel sad and affected by the death of someone who has impacted their life from a far, and they can relate to now being a parent and dying at a similar age.

Its not that bizarre.

Congratulations, you win the insensitivity award today.

What a stupidly ignorant and heartless comment.
Feel good about yourself?

Yes that was a ridiculous post. Liam died at 31 FFS! Hmm

Yeah this. And we can care about and feel for more than one person or cause FGS.

And speaking as a 40 something year old, who wasnt in that age bracket, but has a daughter who is, i feel sad. Whilst my daughter was growing up talked about their music, got excited for albums, who had the best line in which song, who we think would have sang it better, their videos, merch, we never saw them as a band, but have seen 3 as solo artists, we listen to their music daily even now, and talk often about a reunion tour. Im sad for him, sad for his family, sad for his friends, sad for the other 1D boys and sad for the fandom. He was imperfect, but i have shared many lovely memories, and bonded with my daughter over his and the bands music.

Typical media reaction, they'll now hound the person who is dead and dig up whatever they can fine to perpetuate this story. Earlier today it was "his parents are devastated" but it's now "his room was in Total Disorder" - the current BBC headline.
Honestly, do we need to know anything other than this young man was going through something unspeakable, he was still a person, a friend, a son, brother and a father!
I feel so incredibly sorry for those who loved Liam, having to see this awful trashy click bait, because that's exactly what it reads like..

Shame on the BBC and every other news outlet publishing anything other than the basic information strictly necessary.

Yes I agree. So bloody disrespectful! Liam was obviously in a very bad place and it’s so sad that this happened …where were his friends, people that cared about him ?
Maybe they had tried ,but the BBC were perpetuating the problem with society and media . My heart goes out to his family,so bloody sad 😞

Louis has released one on his own too. I really feel for Louis, he has had so much loss in his life.

vegandspice · 17/10/2024 21:43

My faith in humanity has nose dived reading this thread WTAF is wrong with people?
Compassion and empathy has had a bypass ! Am guessing that many PP have children a similar age or are the same age .
Well done for basically showing how screwed up your brains are 🙁

Cheryl also. She lost sarah harding not long ago. She said that she was in intense grief over that.

Mrsdoyler · 17/10/2024 21:50

Ah I just read Louis's statement.

Very well written and sad.

You can choose not to start taking them.

And you can choose to never eat chocolate or drink alcohol hang out with certain people. You don’t know the world he was in and how this would have been pushed/normalised from a teenager. And the drugs may have made him feel less suicidal (in his own thoughts)

Uselessatbeingaperson · 17/10/2024 21:55

This has been one of the most awful celebrity deaths for a long time in the way it has been handled and reacted to.

I agree. Not just his age and what happened, but how quickly it spread and the pictures of his body 😭

I agree. I have been thinking about how quickly it was released on SM and how many of his close friends/non immediate family found out from the news as there was no time to tell people.

It feels so incredibly insensitive how it has been handled. I also cannot believe some peoples attitudes. Drug/alcohol addiction is a horrific disease, it is not through choice and anyone who actually believes this is an idiot.

I really hope this is the start of a big shake up in the music industry, sadly I don't think things will ever change in the press, it seems to be getting worse.

Woopthereitisman · 17/10/2024 22:03

All the videos they’re showing of him, he looks like he was a good guy, always seemed to talk well to fans or when being approached when out

LolaLouise · 17/10/2024 22:09

Mrsdoyler · 17/10/2024 21:50

Zayns released on too. Its a heartbreaking read.

Appalonia · 17/10/2024 22:20

Oh both those tributes are very touching.

Kitkat2065 · 17/10/2024 22:23

Prey do tell how many people would give a shit if an aggressive drug addicted alcoholic in the local community died. It would all be oh their son is better off without him blah blah blah. Drug addiction and alcoholism is awful, it destroys lives....all those saying he spoke openly about his addiction and mental health, that's great but bet the opinion is different when it's poor little "Dave" down the road struggling with his mental health and drug addiction

Mogw · 17/10/2024 22:29

Louis’s statement is beautiful, I feel very sorry for Louis with all he’s been through.

Mrsdoyler · 17/10/2024 22:29

The daily Mail are saying that liam was recently dropped by his record label.

Is that right?

My teen has been speculating for a year if/when 1D might get back together. (She was a bit young for 1D but has been to the 3 solo concerts)
It's unbearable that the reason they might be all back together is for his funeral.

It's possible to feel sad about pop stars, non famous drug addicts and war veterans.

I think it feels sad that for someone who seemingly had everything they could have ever dreamed of but behind it all , they were beyond help.

I think that very much depends on the reader. If a 31 year old drug adddicted man died in my community I would think that was a terrible waste of life and my heart would go out to his family. And that's how I feel now. I can't help thinking of his parents and how much they must regret letting him get on the train to that audition.

BabyCloud · 17/10/2024 22:34

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 16/10/2024 23:22

No you didn’t, you just love the thought of being able to say that on a thread about his death 🙄

Don’t speak for me. I watched alot of his videos over the past few years where he was very open about his struggles. It was obvious even to look at him. You’re grotesque to say anyone could love to say such a thing.

You have probably never even bothered to listen to the things he shared.

I very much feel the same that he was so young, left a family and son behind and I can't comprehend that. I also work with people of a similar age who's families have disowned them and don't care and it just breaks my heart thinking they will never in a million years get the same thought and compassion as a famous pop star has
