Just heard on the news abroad he fell from the third floor off a hotel in Buenos Aires, if true it's very sad as he was so young and seemed like a lovely guy

And yet you just mentioned it again.

I never thought I'd see the word necrophilia with a laughing emoji beside it.

Some extremely weird people on this thread now

Yes and one of them is you.

Hellskitchen24 · 17/10/2024 13:21

This didn’t surprise me at all. Liam has had major issues with drink and drugs for years. Heavy drug use too, not just smoking a bit of weed, but all the nasty stuff. Seen lots of videos of him absolutely high as a kite recently.

It’s a shame that a man with all the money and resources in the world at his finger tips could not find help. But that is the nature of addiction. Unless you want to help yourself you are a lost cause.

I feel for his son and family.

I had to Google to find out who he was.

You are going to be shocked when you find out about Luke and Anakin/Darth...(spoiler alert)

PinotPony · 17/10/2024 13:22

Having worked in travel claims, I can say with some authority that falls from balconies abroad are more common than you might think. The balcony walls are often much lower than in the uk and people tend to consume more alcohol on holiday. Intoxicated people make impulsive, foolish choices (balcony climbing, jumping into the pool, etc) or they simply lose their balance.

It’s incredibly sad that such a young man has lost his life especially leaving behind a young child. I hope the investigation can shed some light on what happened for his family’s sake.

itsnotabouthepasta · 17/10/2024 13:24

What makes me really sad is not just the fact that a young man has lost his life, but the media (social media included) felt it was OK to publish that information without questionning whether Liam's family had been told.

It seems to have made headline news within two hours - considering the time difference, there's no way that Liam's family would have been given that dignity. I hope that they can follow Vanessa Bryant's legal precedent and sue TMZ for posting the photos of Liam's body.

I feel sorry for Kate his girlfriend who had been with him for 2 years, and is now going to be left wondering what the hell happened.

And for Cheryl who now has to explain to her seven year old son that he'll never see his daddy again. That poor little boy. Thank fuck Cheryl has that injunction that the paparrazzi can't photograph her - I assume thats still in place, and will give her some privacy.

The DM have apparantly been doorstepping Liam's family trying to get a comment. It's not even been 24 hours. Why the fuck can't people be given peace and privacy during their time of grief?

The media are always horrendous but they are like that because there is a market.

They know that people will be clicking on the news sites to check what happened.

You're very one sided! As people like this usually are.

People have called me names on here. Yet when I reply to them I'm told that I'm attacking them.

It's funny that you can only seem to see my posts, and not the people that I was replying to.

Yes falls from balconies seem to be in the news a lot.

Yes exactly. The press don't do this for fun. They do it for money, and they get money because people will read this shit, not thinking about the families or that they are feeding this behaviour.

On the other hand, if it wasn't there, it wouldn't be there to look at it. We need a proper press complaints commission, not whatever back slapping operation we have now.

Why are you harassing posters responding to already raised talking points, because you don't like them?

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the necrophilia reference. The poster assumed she was talking to adults on a public forum and saying in effect: Look at how famous people are objectified, physically dispossessed and become owned and exploited by people with nefarious interests and the media. Look at what happened and is still happening to MM! A very eye opening and sober reflection.

And you, rather than engaging intelligently, appear to be having a melt down because you're having great difficulty linking ideas and outcomes and are instead focusing very inappropriately on the act of Necrophilia itself. Which the OP did not do.

Stop policing and if you cannot understand something, move on.

In YOUR singular opinion, there was nothing wrong with it.

Myself and other posters wrote - that we see that there was something wrong with it.

Heartbreaking for his family and his son.

Always was quite shocked at Cheryl Cole having a child with him. Even 7 years ago he seemed troubled, not overly intelligent etc. She's 10 years older than him. I'm around the age she was when she gave birth and the idea of my having a baby with a man in his early twenties is bizarre. Even if he was worth 47 million, surely that can't compensate being lacking as a father? She seems to have made some very unintelligent choices and as usual, the child pays the price.

Hopefully the boy will provide some comfort to Liams family, that he has left something more tangible and worthwhile behind than just money and pop songs. And hopefully there won't be fighting over who gets all the millions.

Edited

Women have babies with men 10 years older every single day. I think sexism is making it harder for you to imagine it the other way round. He was 24, that's a fine age to have a child when you have a successful career and money to raise the child. Child rearing isn't only for the elite intelligence, any adult can do it when they feel it's right.

Their relationship was entirely their choice, and I'm struggling to see how it was shocking.

@Seasmoke We also need a global press commission. One with actual ability to bring in standards because having a UK operation simply isn't effective in today's digital age.

After all, it was the US media that were posting photos of Liam's body, so even if the UK press complaints commission was effective, it wouldn't work on global press stories.

My husband is 9 years older than me, we met when I was 30 - honestly never occurred to me that there was an issue.

I agree it's totally sexist

The irony. Dear dear

YOU have been telling people that YOU disagree with them and demanding they stop talking as if you own MN. Reporting posters, not because they are bullying anyone, no, but just because you simply don't understand the wider point they are making and you don't like what they say. I am surprised MN humoured you to be honest, its because it's a sensitive subject and they are erring on caution is why you got that one.

And people are absolutely allowed to disagree. But telling people to shut up based on your preference for certain talking points is not on.
And when you have to resort to school girl level 'but all my friends agree with me' as backup for your stance you've already lost the argument.

Anyway. So as the thread does not get pulled I will not engage with you further. Virtue signal away.

Just leave it now, for the love of God.

Was Liam still making music? Why was he in Argentina? I feel for his parents, it must add an extra dimension of pain and difficulty when your child dies in another country.
