Just heard on the news abroad he fell from the third floor off a hotel in Buenos Aires, if true it's very sad as he was so young and seemed like a lovely guy

Each to their own I guess if it’s legal but I just couldn’t meet someone as a child for the first time then see them in another way

I went out for a short time with a man I met when I was 13 and he was 19 and a half. He was going out with a friend's sister. I met him again over 14 years later and had a few dates with him. It didn't work out, because he was odd, or so I thought. He said that he had always fancied me even when I was 13. That gave me pause for thought.

Mrsdoyler · 17/10/2024 10:57

Cheryl didn't do anything wrong. By law.

In any way.

No she didn’t. I was surprised by it but she did nothing illegal or manipulative.

WillitWorknow · 17/10/2024 11:05

I just can’t imagine it but I’ve worked in childcare and a school in the past so perhaps it’s that as to me children are children and I couldn’t see them a different way I’ve bumped into some years later and they are just set in my mind as from the first meeting point of that makes sense ? I just would not consider them a potential partner even then seeing them as an adult

OK that's you and that's fine.

Cheryl could and I think that was OK too. It would be different of she was abusing him at age 14.

Mrsdoyler · 17/10/2024 11:07

Everyone's talking about Liam.

I just went into a cafe and the women at the next table are talking about him. They said "I was just reading about that Liam Payne"

You knew him did you? No thought not so your comment is highly inappropriate.

Stop saying things are inappropriate and trying to shut discussion down, don't like it don't read it.

Any other man who got a restraining order people on Mumsnet would be saying he was a scumbag. But it seems celebs are held to a lower standard.

Fame is a poison chalice 💔🌹❤️😣 bless I’m thinking of all his family friends and his little boy 😢

Yes but they were allegations. Trial by TikTok.

I think it’s pretty clear from his exes direct account - maybe look into it a bit mate. Restraining orders don’t come from TikTok.

I see the hotel worker was worried about Liam being in a room with a balcony. That's sad.

Yes the hotel manager was clearly concerned for his safety.

She had a professional relationship with him, she wasn’t caring for him in the way you do with presumably much younger children.

And she got loads of criticism for it at the time.

Just reading through the timings and it would seem that TMZ announced less than 2 hours of him falling. They would barely have time to tell his family. His poor parents.

Can you show a link to show where he was given a restraining order ?

I can't find it

It was the hotel receptionist

Edited

I've looked online and I can't see any website saying that he was given a restraining order.

Can you give a link to show that he was given one?

Did it affect her career and cancel her though in the same way ? Although the whole racism incident didn’t seem to have any impact either so maybe she’s untouchable for some reason 🤷‍♀️

It definitely did affect her career and it has never recovered. She was the golden girl she was an X Factor judge but as soon as she got with Liam she was cancelled, for want of a better word

Mrsdoyler · 17/10/2024 11:24

Who cares if Cheryl went out with liam when they were both adults.

It's because the woman is older that women are commenting.

If the age gap was a man 45, and a woman 25, no one would care

No I think that's most people. Not just the poster. Yourself propbably included.

I mean you don't go from an 'Aunty, motherly' or whatever 'responsible for you' feeling to 'I really fancy you' feeling normally do you?

DS has got friends I knew from when they were teens and a few have now grown up into objectively quite handsome responsible young men. But I am positively cringing inside from the mere thought of initiating a relationship with any of them. Ugh!

Sorry but I agree that if a guy did it the response would be way different. You have to step out of a certain way of thinking.

I mean they got on with it and there's a child, the only child he has, so it really doesn't matter. But was it good or responsible of Cheryl? No it wasn't.

Again, it's not unusual for young men to have the hots for older women and Cheryl was ab absolutelygorgeous woman. I remember thinking she was one of the most beautiful women in British TV in decades. A shame her career didn't expand to America. But if one of DS' friends had tried it on, you can believe I would immediately have stopped that dead in the water! Just the thought!

Maya Henry was in the process of taking legal action against him.

Why bring it up now?

What has it got to do with him dying?

Wouldn't a more normal response be :

His poor child is now left without a dad.

Rather than going on about his relationship with cheryl

Maya Henry was in the process of taking legal action against him.

The legal action she was taking wasn't a restraining order. She was getting her solicitor to write a cease and desist letter.

So writing on here that he was given a restraining order, is completely incorrect.

Isn't a more normal response after someone dies, to think of the child left behind.

Rather than to pick apart the relationship with the mother.

It's inappropriate.

Of course I don't like it. Who cares that he had a relationship in the past with an older woman. It's over.

He's dead. Which is what we are talking about here

PrimalLass · 17/10/2024 11:29

I've looked into it, mate. I know rather a lot about 1D.

There wasn't a restraining order. Yet.

It used to be the case that you couldn't just make videos or publish books accusing people of things and it to be taken as gospel. How is that the best way to get justice? She's the daughter of a multi-millionaire lawyer. Who is advising her? This would have prejudiced any court case.

I don't doubt at all that there's some truth in it. I'm questioning the way that now someone is guilty until (or even when) proven innocent rather than the other way round just because it's been said on social media.
