Just heard on the news abroad he fell from the third floor off a hotel in Buenos Aires, if true it's very sad as he was so young and seemed like a lovely guy

Shocking news to wake up to. My thoughts go out to his loved ones. Poor Bear is about to have his world shattered 😢

Poor Cheryl as well. Telling your kid that their dad died must be very difficult no matter how in each other's life they are. Of course if he 'fell' then that can only mean he wasn't thinking about Bear at the time.

Sorry - you’ve got this wrong. Abuse allegations were coming out which is the main reason people were turning. One of his ex girlfriends was writing a book about the abuse she suffered with him. He was threatening her about the book too.

31 is so young and leaving behind his son is a tragedy 😔

Yet that’s not what’s been trending on TikTok- I can only speak to the countless vids on my Tik Tok feed. I think on instagram there were allegations of harassment from his ex who said she was going to file a cease and desist. But that’s not why he was being mocked on tik tok- and none of the horrible comments mentioned those allegations.

I’ve only learned of the allegations since his death (from people justifying their mocking last week).

I saw the David Brent stuff just a few days ago in The Mail and thought it was overtly cruel and nasty. I thought to myself how does anyone cope with that level of criticism - they were basically saying he was an uncool, deluded loser - a complete twat - really horrible - I felt for him having to maybe read it? Of course they’re gushing about his fantastic voice now and the ‘tragedy’ of his death. Hypocrites.

And the whole things so sad because his solo career hasn’t really taken off and he was there watching Niall’s show. All quite depressing. He was clearly going through something, completely inebriated and smashing things up. I thought it was odd he had that bucchal fat removal thing too. Possibly trying to reinvent himself or just feel good about himself. Anyway I’m clearly projecting now, it’s just too sad.

And errr yeah they were absolutely piled with drugs and taken advantage of VERY early including sexually.

Then we’re on different TikToks because it’s what’s been trending on mine. Says more about the content you watch I’m afraid.

I think you’re missing the poster’s point - she is not saying that plumbers don’t struggle with mental health issues. She is saying that the pressures of being a child star are a unique recipe for life long mental health issues and substance abuse.

He auditioned for the X Factor age 14. By the end of that year he was a global star. The law recognises that minors can’t consent in other serious situations yet a 14- yet children are allowed to start on a path that will forever alter the course of their life.

You can’t undo that level of fame once you’ve had it- a child star still gets followed in public places, get gossiped about, mocked online and taken advantage of by people wanting access to their money or fame long beyond the point that their music stops selling and they are no longer cast in films (I.e. Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Justin Beiber, Home alone actor).

The majority of pop stars who have mental health issues are the ones who go from complete obscurity to stardom very quickly and I personally believe that if they've worked for it, if they've done tours of pubs etc. Then they seem to struggle less. It's almost as if the struggle to get to the top makes it easier for them to deal with it all. I don't know if it's because the struggle takes time so they are more mature or because of the struggle they've justified that they deserve the riches.

Newsenmum · 17/10/2024 07:49

I just can’t help but think of his poor parents who probably knew he was struggling and probably woke up to those TMZ photos 😭 I scrolled on x when the news broke and saw someone had videoed him falling out the balcony. If it was really him he looked like he was out of it and had no idea what he was doing.

Fair enough if it’s been on your FYP- I didn’t realise. I normally only watch “lighthearted” vids on tik tok as don’t like to get news on my feed since it’s often misinformed and biased and makes me wonder who is controlling what I see and when. Might need to reconsider that stance since I clearly don’t get an accurate picture of what’s trending on tik tok.

From all accounts he sounds very troubled.

rewilded · 17/10/2024 07:51

these aren't the Judy Garland years no one was plying him with uppers & downers

Actually things are just as bad. Look at Michael Jackson, Matthew Perry and Brian Wilson to name a few. People take advantage of the rich and vulnerable.

RIP Liam and thoughts go out to his son, family and friends.

Edited

That wasn't him on twitter. It has been shown it was a video from Mexico from a man fleeing a building on fire who jumped and who did survive.

The video doing the rounds of the hotel and the umbrellas is apparently genuine but nothing can be seen.

It is sick that people upload these videos though.

When you look at pictures of 1D when they first formed they were just kids. My DS has just turned 15 (and not the slightest bit interested - or sufficiently talented - to be famous) and I literally can not imagine him leaving home to be staying in hotel rooms on his own, doing interviews, being papped if he went to a shop, having hundreds of girls outside a hotel window. That level of fame - overnight - is completely off the scale, and it's not all that surprising that a teenager would struggle to deal with it

Can TMZ be sued by Liam Payne's family for massive infringement of privacy in publishing clearly graphic and upsetting photos of his body?

And who took the photos and passed them to the Press? Was it the first responders? Or hotel security? Can they be sued too? If so, I hope they all get sued into the ground.

It's an incredibly sad end for Liam. His poor little boy😢

I doubt it. Pictures are published of dead children in Gaza more or less every day, nobody seems to care about the infingement of privacy then, and those are tiny and innocent children.

kkloo · 16/10/2024 23:09

No I don't think it means that at all.

I imagine it means he was dead with absolutely no way to help him….

Monkeybutt1 · 17/10/2024 08:01

It's incredibly sad. I do think it's absolutely vile that people are not jumping on his ex gf and blaming her, I don't know a lot about what's been reported with them but she shouldn't be getting the abuse she is.

RevelryMum · 17/10/2024 08:05

Just tragic his poor family and son .

GiveMeSpanakopita · 17/10/2024 08:08

Tragic. Liam was clearly an extremely troubled young man. He did and saw too much too young. The age gap between him and Caroline Flack would have been publicly excoriated had the genders been reversed. Male emotional pain is still not taken seriously.

Fame is a poison pill. We need to have a serious conversation about letting children become 'stars'. So many end up messed up.

Surely in future, AI could be used for children characters in movies? And also there should be some kind of minimum age for children to enter the performing arts professionally. Or at least more of a structure put in place to protect their mental health.

Mogw · 17/10/2024 08:10

@GiveMeSpanakopita that was Harry styles not Liam who was with Caroline flack.

I would imagine the immediate loss of anonymity and privacy has a lot to do with it.
If you've first played village halls, or pubs and clubs you'll gradually get used to people recognising you....until you get a big break. Appear on X factor in the 2000s and the next day millions of people know who you are, and have an opinion on you. You can't get drunk in a pub without someone knowing its you and taking pics, if you say something silly (because you're a teenager!) Everyone hears about it, if you go on holiday everyone knows where you're going (and takes pics) etc etc nothing is personal or private anymore

SassK · 17/10/2024 08:21

I think the social media aspect of celebrity can be very damaging. Presence on SM is required now for young artists, but its a double edged sword because SM has such a dark and nasty side (often to an extreme degree).

Letsgodancing · 17/10/2024 08:21

I was so sad to hear this, they were definitely worked so much when they were teens and at the time were the biggest boy and in the world in early 2010s. I've seen some videos were as teens, they are trying to sleep and Handlers are waking them up to get them onto the next project. I wouldn't be suprised if they were all at the point of exhaustion and given things to keep them going and so the spiral starts.

Unfortunately in South America he may have got hold of some very strong substances and in regards to the invasion of privacy, the police will definitely sell to the highest bidder and you probably have some overworked underpaid hotel workers who are been offered serious money to tell what they know about the situation.
Gut wrenching for his family and friends, I am sure many of them will be waking up seeing this on the news.

This was the question I was answering:

Can TMZ be sued by Liam Payne's family for massive infringement of privacy in publishing clearly graphic and upsetting photos of his body?

It was totally related as it relates to publishing pictures of bodies.

ThianWinter · 17/10/2024 08:29

This is an absolute tragedy. He had time to get into recovery and turn his life around. For his life to end so suddenly is devastating for everyone who loved him.
