Just heard on the news abroad he fell from the third floor off a hotel in Buenos Aires, if true it's very sad as he was so young and seemed like a lovely guy

I'm devastated, I'm a massive Directioner, mainly Harry but I've always loved them all and have seen Niall, Harry and Louis this year, due to see Zayn next month.
I always hoped to see Liam solo and them back together at some point.
So many memories of the different tours, albums, videos etc from the last 24 years.

Same, my daughter is very sad too. She never got to see 1D, ive taken her to see harry louis and niall with zayn next month, she was hoping to see Liam in the future too, and eventually a reunion. Its sad to know that will never happen now. Such a tragic loss of life. He was troubled, but he was a talented young lad.

CookieofTheEmpire · 17/10/2024 01:25

Honestly, I feel so sad for him, his family and his dear little boy. What a terrible terrible waste of a life.
Rest in the most perfect paradise.

@Livinginaclock & all the other IDers it's a massive shock when someone you love, music, cinema or whatever you just always think they're immortal

My cousin is a massive fan, Harry & Niall are her favourites & I remember her room (I thought I was bad at her age!) & fake (than christ!) tattoos so for her generation (21/22 y/o) this must be like when Take That split & support lines were opened

Just read LP was onstage with the Mullingar legend Niall in Argentina recently, I hope that gives him a bit of relief & solace

He was backstage with him.
I follow them all obsessively
Louis is with his family in LA, Harry's Mum will be with him if he needs, Niall has his family and Amelia.
Zayn seems settled although his tour is starting v soon, obvs I'm fine with it not going ahead
Liam seemed so lost for a while but I always hoped he'd get it together.

Scorchio84 · 17/10/2024 01:32

ah good, I'm sure they've had the rug pulled out from all of them though, fans too before I get flamed

StrongFemaleCharacter · 17/10/2024 01:40

Looks like crack to me but I could be wrong - bad eyesight and blurry pic. His behaviour suggests he was on uppers so I doubt heroin.

could be both, it's called a speedball, it's on record, his words, that he had an opioid addiction & alcohol.. you don't have to bang it to be on heroin (opioid)

the US throw these around like sweets, my friend was in hospital a few months ago, spleen issues, & he was on Morphine & two nurses had to be there & sign off when given to him

ETA do people use tinfoil for crack? Thought it was just a pipe, same with meth & that's how people's teeth/face get ruined

I hope they don't blame themselves in any way, particularly Louis, he's struggled so much already.

Scorchio84 · 17/10/2024 02:05

Oh @Livinginaclock surely they won't be feeling like that? I mean I'm sure many of us have been affected with this scourge & we always ask "could we have done more?"

Ultimately no

Cinnabun10 · 17/10/2024 02:06

I wonder why they are deleting his recent Snapchats

MrsChestnut · 17/10/2024 02:13

This is so sad, I can’t believe it. I’m not normally one to get sentimental over celebrity death but this is so shocking. I grew up loving one direction and he was the same age as me. His son is the same age as mine. That poor little boy 😔

It's been stated that the police are investigating his death, so his snaps may be considered to be part of the investigation, and therefore will have been redacted as evidence.

Drinkdrinkduuurink · 17/10/2024 02:19

The main problem is their success was so meteoric. They became huge overnight. The likes of Harry, a big character, could deal with it, but Liam being more shy/reserved seemed to struggle.

The Spice Girls were together for years before they took off, so they had some grounding. 1D had none of that. From 0 to 100 in no time at all. That has to be very overwhelming. Being in a Cowell vehicle like X Factor means you skip past the development stage, and its instant fame. In the case of 1D it was hyper fame as the biggest act on the planet for about four years. But then when that peak is over how do you cope with the come down? Drugs is offen the answer unfortunately.

redish · 17/10/2024 02:21

so utterly tragic. I hadn't realised how young he was. 16 when he joined 1D. They're never prepared for the shitstorm which accompanies global megastardom. Impossible to prepare.

Cattyisbatty · 17/10/2024 02:22

So tragic, I didn’t follow Liam at all, but obviously know 1D - my DCs grew up with them really. So sorry for his loved ones, esp his son.

Justin Bieber too... I have to say where were/are the parents? at the age they all became famous & beyond? A bit of parental presence & grounding goes a long way

Being 'famous' looks horrible.
So shallow and with social media added to the mix, it looks like hell.

Cnon · 17/10/2024 03:19

Ivehearditbothways · 16/10/2024 22:44

He has such a young son. If it’s true, this doesn’t seem the right way for news to be put out there.

RIP good sir.

His son Bear is 7.

Cremacreme · 17/10/2024 03:23

Exactly... If people were all about respecting his family... his son, they wouldn't be on an online forum commentating on it. It's bullshit. We're all here for details, we are all here for info. But yeah, stick an RIP at the end to make it look like that's not what your doing.

Surely there is a difference between “I loved 1D” or “how tragic” to speculating on what happened, talking about rumours, circumstances etc?

Scooby2024 · 17/10/2024 03:33

It's so tragic. However he died doesn't matter right now and there is far too much speculation in the media at the moment. All all I can think of is that a young man has died, his parents have lost a son, his friends have lost a friend and the most horrific of all - his son has lost his daddy. His poor baby is likely tucked up in bed at the moment unaware his life will be shattered in the coming days. My heart goes out to Cheryl who will likely have to inform Bear that his dad has died 😭.

It really does, honestly. And every time you say something like “you know, celebrities ARE people, and they have families who might read these awful things people say”, the response is basically “they don’t know you, why stick up for millionaires” etc.

It’s all just said. 31 is nothing and to think of him being shoved into it all at 16…my son is 17 and he’s a baby. Who could handle it?

ThorTheDog · 17/10/2024 03:43

Very sad.

Having fame, all that attention on you and too much too young must be very difficult to deal with. His poor family now and his little boy having to deal with losing him along with all the speculation and scrutiny. It's heartbreaking.

Someone mentioned Bieber too. His song called Lonely always makes me feel sad.

These kids need more support when they're thrust into the public eye. It can all go very wrong very quickly if you don't have the right people around you.

these aren't the Judy Garland years @CheerfulYank no one was plying him with uppers & downers

Who’s to say, actually? 🙄
