Boeuf Bourgignon with Yorkshire puddings. Yes or no?

I say yes because BB is simply a beef casserole, albeit from a French recipe, and beef goes with YPs. Plus the nice ones from the supermarkets are ready easy to cook.

No

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 15/10/2024 12:05

Yes. Yorkshire Puds grace any meal.

But make your own puds.

rbe78 · 15/10/2024 12:05

Well it's not traditional, but it would be tasty...

Why not?

Chewbecca · 15/10/2024 12:05

Nope, I wouldn't sorry. Only with a roast beef dinner for me.
Although of course you can if you really want it!
Making your own YPs is also really easy! This recipe works perfectly for me: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/best-yorkshire-puddings

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 15/10/2024 12:05

Yes, of course. Delicious!

Crikeyalmighty · 15/10/2024 12:06

Oh yes !!

Balloonhearts · 15/10/2024 12:07

Nooooo, dumplings. Has to be dumplings.

BIWI · 15/10/2024 12:07

Of course you can! Never need an excuse for eating/making Yorkshire puddings Grin
(But make your own - much nicer)

WildWildWestCoast · 15/10/2024 12:08

Oh yes! But dumplings are a good call too.

PopGoesTheProsecco · 15/10/2024 12:09

Oh yes - fusion! 😂

user1498572889 · 15/10/2024 12:10

YES

TheTecknician · 15/10/2024 12:10

I buy the beef dripping puds and I've always found them very acceptable. I DO make my own roast potatoes but they're normally a side dish for gammon, plus a rich cauliflower cheese.

What? No!

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 15/10/2024 12:11

Yes. Yum.

Cuppachuchu · 15/10/2024 12:12

Yes, Yorkshire and dumplings for me. 😋

Talipesmum · 15/10/2024 12:13

Yes absolutely. FWIW I think dumplings are a bit rubbish (sorry dumpling lovers!). If I’m going to have extra carbs, I want them to be roast potatoes or Yorkshire pud.

Huge yorkshires are great with this as you can fill them up with stew for serving. Mmm.

Spinet · 15/10/2024 12:13

You could have a trip back to a 90s pub and serve the boeuf bourgignon IN a giant Yorkshire pud?

GiraffeTree · 15/10/2024 12:14

No

LaMarschallin · 15/10/2024 12:15

Could make big ones and serve the stew in them - bit of a pub grub thing.
Certainly no reason not to have them.
Although, now dumplings have been mentioned...

Floralnomad · 15/10/2024 12:15

I wouldn’t have yorkshires with any type of casserole , dumplings with casseroles , yorkshires with roasts .

Cross post and great minds 😀

Auvergne63 · 15/10/2024 12:20

French here. A big resounding yes!!!! Yummy.

LaMarschallin · 15/10/2024 12:26

I'm curious as why the naysayers say nay.
Bouef Bourgignon is, basically, meat with vegetables and sauce.
In the same way as a roast beef dinner is meat, vegetables and sauce (assuming you have gravy and, if you don't, why not?).
Having said that, I don't understand people who think Yorkshire pudding belongs in Christmas dinner.

Sepoctnov · 15/10/2024 12:27

Yes please sounds yummy!
