Boeuf Bourgignon with Yorkshire puddings. Yes or no?

I say yes because BB is simply a beef casserole, albeit from a French recipe, and beef goes with YPs. Plus the nice ones from the supermarkets are ready easy to cook.

Yes. You can put anything in a Yorkshire pudding.

It might be tempting fate to put Lancashire hotpot in one.Grin

AyrshireTryer · 15/10/2024 17:48

of course, ditch the haters.

HRTQueen · 15/10/2024 17:55

I'd say yes as it would be delicious. And if anyone asks, just say it's not yorkshire puddings, it's "savoury clafoutis" - which, technically, it is!

Edited

Don't think that works, different batter plus the fruit... you're on the right track though, I grew up with essentially the sweet version of YP which is a South German regional specialty called pfitzauf. Same batter (plus a bit of sugar), same texture, even near-identical tins. We'd have them as a stand-alone kids' treat dinner. No gravy, just tear them open, add some extra sugar/Cinnamon mix and accompany with apple compote. Yum.

PickAChew · 15/10/2024 17:59

Hell yes!

Chicken tikka masala is delicious with Yorkshire pud.

hepsitemiz · 15/10/2024 18:00

Yes that’s fine (and I’m French!).

However, will you also be serving mashed pots? If so, boil and mash them together with celeriac… use cream instead of milk 👹it’s so rich and delicious!

Yes. Yorkshire Puds grace any meal.

But make your own puds.

This.

notprincehamlet · 15/10/2024 18:01

Yes. It's fusion cuisine.

KnickerlessParsons · 15/10/2024 18:04

I think dumplings would be nicer than YPs, and also easy to make.
Also not French though.

empresstonkoko · 15/10/2024 18:07

Yorkshires with everything 😀

Devillishlooloo · 15/10/2024 18:09

Yes but make your own. They are easy peasy to make and a fraction of the cost.

waitingforthebus · 15/10/2024 18:12

Yes

Idontlikeyou · 15/10/2024 18:14

Yes. We have it with roasties and yorkshire puds.

I don’t care what the French branch of the family thinks about it either 😉

WillowtreeHouse · 15/10/2024 18:15

Absolutely yes. I believe there is a law that says you can eat Yorkshire puddings with anything at all. I might have made that law up myself but I believe that all should abide by it.

TheTecknician · 15/10/2024 20:15

No mashed potato in my home. Not now, not ever. It's banned. I can't abide the stuff. I hope that's clear.

I have been known to serve BB on top of well-toasted garlic baguette slices. Like a posh toast topper. This might appease our French cuisine aficionados.

Absolutely not. Yorkshire Puddings are a waste of plate space, calories and time. Awful, boring things that add nothing to anything.

Bleurgh. Only fit for the 🗑️

What on earth is the matter with you?! 🤣

ThisTimeNextWeekDavid · 15/10/2024 20:50

What is the POINT of them?!

muddyford · 15/10/2024 20:55

Cold Yorkshire pudding with raspberry jam!

midlifeattheoasis · 15/10/2024 21:28

ABSOLUTELY NO

HowardTJMoon · 15/10/2024 21:46

I wouldn't turn it down, but yorkshire puds aren't the best at soaking up sauces. Mashed potatoes, ideally made with a hefty dose of roast garlic and lots of butter, works much better. If you don't like mash then you have my deepest sympathies.

ivykaty44 · 15/10/2024 21:47

No good asking me, I eat Yorkshire’s with jam or golden syrup for dessert

Butter acts as a barrier for soaking up gravy, use oil if you want mash to soak up gravy

What is the POINT of them?!

To fill with gravy and drink it from them like a crispy batter cup - when on my own anyway.

Dipped in gravy when I am in company. I’m not a heathen 😉

JMSA · 15/10/2024 21:49

Ooft, yes please!
