Vinted - postage warning

It looks like Vinted have turned on the post office as a postage option for sellers. You can’t switch it off though.

I can also disable this option now. I had it turned off, but I hadn't realised it had turned back on. Turned off now and DPD! Why do they keep mucking about with this, it's the 2nd time they've done something like this in the past few months and the feedback from sellers is always negative. I don't understand what they are gaining from this other than pissing sellers off.

pantomanto · 07/10/2024 13:13

Thank goodness. Toggled off.

Yes, it’s just allowed me to turn it off again. Phew. I don’t sell a lot, but what I do sell is new with tags and I don’t have the time to schlep to a post office and queue and then rely on a buyer to confirm.

msmatcha · 07/10/2024 13:47

Excellent, post office now switched off, as is holiday mode.

mitogoshigg · 07/10/2024 14:03

As they closed our post office it's a moot point. Evri at least is still available at the coop

CiderJabs · 07/10/2024 14:45

Mine seems to have allowed me to turn this option off?! Or am I being dim?

I've just checked and I was able to unselect Royal Mail as an option.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 07/10/2024 15:18

That's good news! Although typically I'm half way through editing my listings regarding cancelling RM orders 😁 think I may leave them still just in case it goes back in again!

I've done exactly the same. Going to leave it on my listings just in case 😅

Mxflamingnoravera · 07/10/2024 22:57

This morning I couldn't turn off the RM option, I gave feedback and now I can turn it off. Maybe they've listened?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 08/10/2024 08:05

Hi @Springadorable this is the thing ... I'm not on FB so not on the Vinted community there and how we don't have the forum, had I not seen this thread when the option to toggle off was disabled was turned off I could have been caught out.

So listings all now updated so hopefully covered in case they play silly buggers again Grin

Me too!

itwasnevermine · 08/10/2024 17:45

I've just turned my Royal Mail off so hopefully they've fixed it!

Supersimkin7 · 08/10/2024 21:22

Six weeks to get paid using RM unless buyer enables it - 3O working days takes you to Xmas.

Turned off after forking out £53 on postage, that’s me done.

Iloveeverycat · 08/10/2024 21:25

You can buy postage online and get it collected from your house for free I do it all the time.

Yes but you have to pay for postage instead of the buyer and it takes forever to get paid

The point is no one wants to. We don’t want to fork out postage upfront and RM is not trackable through the Vinted app.

It’s also the chosen method for scammers, as I found out yesterday. Purchased a bag at 5.545am got the Royal Mail postage receipt at 5.46am! Now unless yes a bloody super hero and has the ability to get Royal Mail to open up on a Sunday then it’s pretty obvious I ain’t getting a bag and need to wait over a month now to get my money back!! I messaged him to tell him I knew it was a scam and the message was seen but looks like I’m gonna have to wait it out!! Fuming and I think I may also switch back to eBay.

I had that, I reported to vinted abd they refunded me within 5 days

Yep- I've just been able to turn my RM option off too.

Disc0mbobulated · 08/10/2024 22:12

For purely selfish reasons I'm glad Vinted have done this as Royal Mail is my only option when buying. Hopefully this will mean more sellers offer it (as many won't know hot to switch it off).

kittyycatt · 08/10/2024 22:27

Just checked mine and it was turned on, but I was able to turn it off thankfully!

Royal Mail do the delivery and collections for InPost, are you not able to use that instead?

I don't know anything about InPost. Off to investigate.

Edit: looks like InPost means either dropping off or picking up from a locker so no can do, none anywhere near me. Ditto Evri drop off/pick up points.

If you'd requested to buy a bundle, you wouldn't have been charged two lots of postage.

I recently bought two items as a bundle and the postage was excessive. I thought I should only have been charged the postage for one item, but it was definitely a lot more.

evtheria · 09/10/2024 08:11

@BooneyBeautiful That's my real bugbear, actually! Not being able to adjust the postage for bundles!

I've paid for a medium parcel when getting 2 small items, and wondered how many buyers were put off buying a bundle from me... I know I 'could' always politely offer a lower price when buying a bundle, but I don't think postage should have anything to do with it (ie unfair on the seller, who probably will already discount multiple items).
