Zonder he's got a 'memoir' to flog. Serialised in a daily rag nearby. So far he's lost the BBC due to Kuensberg 'ooh, sorry', and Sky because Beth Rigsby won't play his game and agree his conditions. He may outsell Truss's effort.

Ah, I'm sure I read somewhere around election night time that Beth and Laura support each others career. Wondering if they both decided to pull the plug on Boris and his book.

From the Times

NEW: Workers rights legislation changes to be unveiled on Thursday by Labour The changes mean over 7 million people will gain sick pay, maternity pay, and unfair dismissal protection from their 1st day in work instead of having to wait 6 months

  • Universal entitlement to sick pay for all workers from the 1st day they are ill
  • If earning below the £123 threshold will get a lower rate of sick pay
  • Mothers will be entitled to apply for maternity pay from their 1st day. Fathers get more rights to paternity pay
  • Probation periods shrunk to 6 months and staff will get protection against unfair dismissal from their 1st day
  • The power to sack unsatisfactory workers during probation periods will remain without a full performance management process
  • Advisory for right to disconnect for employees

Oooh I'm liking this.

Saucery · 05/10/2024 18:45

I think the sick pay from day 1 is fantastic.

SerendipityJane · 05/10/2024 19:13

I am amused that the MSM has dreamed up Labour returning the Falklands and Gibraltar, after the Chagos affair.

Not such a bad idea, really ... especially as it would be impossible (not unlike Brexit) for a future government to reverse.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 05/10/2024 19:44

Thanks for the new thread @DuncinToffee and for those paying their taxes Smile
I have been away for a few days ( family funeral 🥲) so just catching up.
In the words of Pam from G&S " oh my Christ"
Kemi Badenoch has no self awareness does she?
I am also wanting to cry with the Reform by election results.
I am sick of suit gate and absolute no other real news.
The Middle East is terrifying right now and we are still crying about Ange being in a DJ box that cost the tax payer the princely sum of F...k all.
☹️

Zonder · 05/10/2024 20:10

Sorry for your loss @ThatbloodyRoblox

Catching up with some other threads, the irony (or hypocrisy) of complaining about 'but Johnson' after years of 'but Corbyn'

I don’t think a Reform success in a council by election is too much cause for concern. The Middle East situation is incredibly concerning and still the British press whinge on about trivia.

I’m sorry too @ThatbloodyRoblox. 💐

ThatbloodyRoblox · 05/10/2024 21:18

Thank you lovely people. 😊

itsgettingweird · 06/10/2024 06:47

I’m sorry too @ThatbloodyRoblox Flowers

PandoraSox · 06/10/2024 08:49

Me three @ThatbloodyRoblox Also, the rest of your post is spot on.

At least the budget will mean some new topics for the press and the #steamers to froth about.

DuncinToffee · 06/10/2024 09:01

Lol at #steamers Grin

Tories have released a video about pensioners losing their WFA and there is a whole discussion about the golden watch the bloke is wearing, real rolex or fake 😅

I have some spare time this morning but I don't think I can be bothered with that level of desperation.

Oh, I have watched a bit of the WFA video. Did they hire Labour supporters to make it? They could have at least found homes to film in that are not the abodes of the well off.

But poor Doris might not be able to afford to run her Tassimo machine this winter, I suppose.

BIossomtoes · 06/10/2024 09:52

It sounds very entertaining. Can I be lazy and ask where you found it? That new thread’s hilarious.

Eagle eyed observers have also noted jade vases and £1200 plus standard lamps in addition to the Tassimo and possible Rolex which could be sold to pay for heating

Nearly 14 million views and less than a thousand likes. People aren't stupid.

If thevTories really care about the real pensioners who will suffer, why didn't they bother to find any?
