I was listening to Any Questions. One of the panelists is Alex Wilson. Who? I thought. He is a Reform Member of the London Assembly.

Why is a no mark "politician" like him being given airtime? It is like the run up to Brexit all over again when Farage was given endless airtime. Does the BBC want a Reform government? 🤬🤬🤬

Switched it off.

Hi yis. Not been on much lately and can't be arsed with goady threads. It's over 4 years until the next election, so much of this will be forgotten by then.

Sorry you're getting a hard time @PandoraSox. You can report to MNHQ if you're being stalked on here. I did and they backed off. For a bit. I never quote or respond to their posts. Remember you don't have to go to every fight you're inited to.Thanks

I'll pay my tax tomorrow. I have a puc of a tree but it's too big to load. I'll get another tomorrow.

After Badenoch's claim that she became working class, by once working in McDonalds, Jenrick claims he's working class because his parents had a small business. His working class journey: private school> Cambridge> Ivy League Postgrad> US law firms > Director at Christie's.

pandora it's a bit rough out there again. Maybe in time for conference season who knows. I know what you mean though. I've been called an authoritarian in the manner of Russia or North Korea on FWR (alongside the usual thread monitor/TRA/liar/man accusations).

I wholly sympathise because I find it hard to scroll past nonsense too. My most triggering is seeing posters making good points getting attacked for it - I hate it.

Meh. toobig has sound advice as always.

CassieMaddox · 21/09/2024 00:01

duncin I dropped SD off at uni last week with DP. It was surprisingly hard (for us) but SD is loving it by all accounts! SD has gone to the same uni I went to and I found it so weird to be the parent. Felt very old!

Alexandra2001 · 21/09/2024 08:25

@PandoraSox Name change/hide threads or remove.... always worth remembering that its almost impossible to change anyone's mind and many posters are not genuine.

newnamethanks · 21/09/2024 08:46

Bloody hell. Just tot up the approximate cost of Jenrick's education. All that investment and the result is Robert Jenrick. Unfortunate, perhaps someone could apply for a refund?

I know. But the disability benefit bashing threads piss me off so much.

All the best for this weekend @DuncinToffee ! Hope your dd settles in quickly.
DS is off for his final year tomorrow and I have a weird kind of ‘ghost’ sadness i.e. I’m not really one bit sad but I remember being sad the first time we took him Grin

Designer glasses cost a lot. Even more if you need all the bells and whistles on a prescription. Politicians should be buying their own. The fact Starmer didn’t did make me think a bit less of his integrity, but won’t put me off voting Labour again depending on the progress they make over the next few years. And if the only option remains the current incarnation of rats in a sack Tories or odious Reform then Labour it will be. I’d rather they weren’t on the take, however.

CassieMaddox · 21/09/2024 09:27

🤣 video hilarious too. Andersin is an idiot

An incredible moment with Lee Anderson.

Anderson: Mass immigration has been forced on us

Me: What percentage of your community is not British born, then?

Anderson: It’s 96/97% white British

Me: So it hasn’t been forced on you then, has it?

All the best for today @DuncinToffee - both for your dd and for you Flowers

I still remember so clearly my first day at Uni (over 40 decades ago ShockBlush), as well as the day dropping ds off at Aberdeen. Did shed a couple of tears as we were leaving - mainly because I couldn't share the experience with my mum and what she would've been thinking when she dropped me off. My dad was too much of a pragmatist to admit to any emotions.

On the specific issue of being 'followed from thread to thread' for the purpose of goading contacted MNHQ who were remarkably sympathetic and helpful [!] which put a stop to it and they deleted the worst posts. [not the same poster/thread as you're having trouble with].

The thread does seem to be calming down a little

Prepare yourselves as the Labour conference looms and the haters will be out in full force, maligning every policy and blaming claimants, migrants and lazy shirkers for everything. If only we could bring the practiced eexperience of Bozo to the job. Don't take any of the bs personally. Expect it, poke fun at their claims and don't resort to reason; it doesn't have a place in their narrow world.

And yet, oddly, the fact that Starmer’s dad had a small business at one time makes him a factory owner and therefore Starmer not brought up working class…how odd.

Hi all

Am out of surgery and recovering.

MN occupying me. Especially diverted by the suggestion that the working class can't have gone to grammars ( or play musicsl instruments ). Blows out of the water that social mobility claim...

Llttledrummergirl · 21/09/2024 17:58

I hope it went well Piggy
