I re-read Animal Farm recently, and it keeps coming into my head when I'm reading current stuff about TLP and Sir Keir Starmer.
Animal Farm is a satirical allegorical novella, in the form of a beast fable,[1] by George Orwell, first published in England on 17 August 1945.[2][3] It tells the story of a group of anthropomorphic farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy. Ultimately, the rebellion is betrayed, and under the dictatorship of a pig named Napoleon, the farm ends up in a state far worse than before.
Perhaps an extreme reaction on my part (!) but I'm finding myself feeling so disappointed right now, and pretty disillusioned. Seeing the amount of freebies accepted by SKS was really shocking and totally at odds with the belief I had in him that he is a man of integrity. Perhaps there is some truth in the words 'they're all the same'?
I really hope not, and hope that something more positive comes out of the conference.
