Thank you @Peridot1 and @WinterFrog . Flowers
Today I’ve managed to get back on with a few jobs. A general tidy round and reset of things that were in the wrong place with me having been away for a fortnight, a massive pile of ironing and a swap over of summer and winter clothes. It has been beautifully sunny so I’ve got a couple of washing loads done too and am now regretting nor putting dog bed covers and towels through the wash. We have my dad’s dog staying with us (may end being a permanent arrangement depending on my dad moving to a care home) and she is incredibly hairy compared to Petaldog!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/10/2024 16:23

Looking for motivation and reading everyone's posts ...
not much going in here cleaning-wise, but lots to do.
😔
Must dig up garden
sort horror bedroom
still haven't got into storage room
ugh

Morning! I got the reset done so the place is 'company ready' as flylady would say. But i have a list of jobs that keep not getting done due to life, and sometimes laziness, getting in the way. I think what I need to is a Spring Autumn clean. Today i intend to start with the top of the fridge and a shelf in the kitchen.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 09/10/2024 07:59

Morning! Not alot going on Chez Lobelia. Just trying to keep head above water really with new working routines etc. But I have made alot of smug soup to keep us going and have batch cooked several favourite meals which is making the evenings easier.

I hope everyone is well and your loved ones too. x

petalpower · 09/10/2024 12:36

I’m having a jobs day as everyone is out at work so it’s just me and the dogs!
So far I’ve:

  • morning routine - dogs walked, washing on line, exercise done
  • picked up dog meds from vets
  • dropped off a bag at the charity shop
  • picked up some bedding plants from the garden centre to make up a pot by the back door
SpiritOfEdna · 09/10/2024 15:17

hello
I've finally sent an email re some beautiful reclaimed flooring and how it needs to be fitted. I am dreading the answer as if it is fitted over existing flooring, then the search continues
Other things for today

  • a bed to refurbish, the sanders are out. Have to be mindful of noise though - NDN is elderly, so am doing it in concentrated bursts
  • look for a linen cupboard - saw one online a while ago and annoyingly cannot find it again. I've looked for a refurbed/vintage one but my god they are spendy, when you think of the amount of wood in them you seem to be paying for fresh air
  • I am waiting for a delivery of an air fryer - the giddy heights 😃Although keen to try out a recipe for granola
  • the blinds are all looking super dusty, so must get the duster out
  • found the little scissors so the dog can have all her knotty bits attacked but not all her bits 😄
That's all for today, have a good one, SoE
Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/10/2024 08:36

How thick it it, SoE? That sounds like quite a project.
Was it you working on a bed last year?

OP posts:
SpiritOfEdna · 10/10/2024 09:28

It was me doing a bed - this one is more straightforward - less curves🤣 Maybe should have practised on this one! The dust is a bit thick….
Today:

  • more sanding
  • make granola - just spent a fortune in M&S and didn’t get a key ingredient 🤣
  • bikes are getting wet outside need to do something with their covers - Velcro maybe to keep the opening closed
  • need to clean my boots - after walking SpiritDoggo
Busy work day, so not much going on, have a good day, SoE -
Peridot1 · 10/10/2024 09:39

Morning all. (And whatever time it is for you @Mumtobabyhavoc!)

Work still ongoing in our living room. Some issues where once we could see what was happening some big changes needed to happen including digging out a brick hearth. So that led to delay. And builder not happy. Then yesterday another change and he wasn’t happy and then I realised I’d completely misunderstood what DH and I had discussed the night before so another change and a very unhappy builder. So we are now a day behind. But it will hopefully all be worth it.

I have been pottering with various jobs. Took the shower head off shower in DS’s bathroom yesterday and descaled it. Did my ironing.

Today:

  • dishwasher- done
  • Clean DS’s bathroom
  • dust and vacuum DS room
  • ESTA application
  • make up DS bed
  • tidy and clean utility and wash floor
  • charity shop run
  • chiropractor appointment

Glad to see you are having a bit of normality @petalpower.

WinterFrog · 10/10/2024 16:00

Hello all! I've been a busy bee and tackled lots of little jobs this week I also have a list as long as my arm regarding hidden clutter in cupboards and drawers. I have a grand plan to try to talk DH into parting with a couple of items of furniture that he brought into our marriage too, as they aren't used and I would really love a bit of extra space. But first I need to minimise my own stuff as I'm not a monster. Honest!
Some admin is also done, and the living areas are all relatively clean.
Just a couple of appointments to book, dinner all ready to go, and I'm planning to put my headphones on and spend an hour watching a recording of a talk a friend did recently.

Hope all is well with you all, and not too stressful with work, pets, children and elderly relatives xx

RunningKatie · 10/10/2024 20:21

How is it Thursday already? I've got a not so lovely cold, so sat under blankets with a hot water bottle. Trying to organise DC2s birthday but not getting very far very fast.
Our fireplace has been removed, so rubbish to tip is now scheduled for Saturday. Waiting for plasterer to confirm dates and installation date for new fireplace to be booked in. House is in utter chaos till then.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/10/2024 00:40

Bad timing re being sick, Katie. Hope it's a quick recovery. 🤞☺️💐

WinterFrog · 11/10/2024 07:53

Rotten luck @RunningKatie Hope you feel better soon 💐
It's frosty and sunny here today. Absolutely beautiful! I have an errand day today, and squeezing in a coffee with a friend in the middle of it.
Have washed shower curtain and cleaned the windowsill in the bathroom 💪 And wiped sticky hand prints off the TV. Can see why lots of families keep them on the wall now 😂 We're a bit retro with our telly on one of those shelf units (horrible dust trap that it is)
Where do the sky box etc go when the tv is on the wall...anyone? We also have a rarely used dvd player on it.
About to embark upon wordle and hoping to keep my 162 day streak intact....

Have a great day all 💕

FourSeasonsLobelia · 11/10/2024 08:18

morning all. Hope you feel better soon @RunningKatie .

I tried wordle for the first time this week@WinterFrog ! I have a one day streak. 😅

Unexpected day off today as our office landlord needs to do some emergency repairs. So I am planning to spend the day washing and ironing in front of netflix.

Hope everyone is well! xx

Peridot1 · 11/10/2024 08:32

Sorry you are feeling rubbish @RunningKatie. That cold is doing the rounds. I have it again although not too bad.

Great Wordle streak @WinterFrog! I’m at 116. Which is my longest ever. Love my Wordle and other games time in the morning with a cup of tea.

We are putting the tv in the wall in the living room at the moment. It’s going over the fireplace which I’m not overly keen on. To say the least! So the compromise here is that we are getting a Samsung Frame tv which looks like a painting when not actually on. The builder built a recess into the wall and the Sky box will go in there behind the tv apparently. DH is a bit concerned it won’t work (although from his research it should work) but in that case we will just have to have it out nearby. My bigger issue is the sound bar that apparently needs to also be on the wall. So it has its own recess. Which kind of defeats my nice painting on the wall effect but as I say it’s all a bit of a compromise!

I did almost all of my list of jobs yesterday bar the charity shop run and tidying the utility room. Also did the plug from DS’s shower so I’m awarding myself a medal for that! Although it wasn’t too bad really.

Today:

  • PT session at gym
  • change a bed
  • wash bedding
  • towel wash
  • usual dishwasher/kitchen stuff
  • vacuum
  • some admin stuff

Have a great day all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/10/2024 08:36

I do Wordle (and all the NYT free games, except sudoku), too. 🤓
As you can see, I'm still awake. It's 12:30am.
So, I just soaked a cloth with vinegar and cleaned the sliding glass door to the deck (inside only, I'm not that obsessed, lol) and then cleaned inside the washing machine door. I took dc out for the evening, so they were wide awake and over tired when we got home around 9pm and didn't fall asked until 11:30pm. I have a feeling tomorrow will go awry....🤷‍♀️

petalpower · 11/10/2024 09:10

I love wordle and connections and do them
every morning - struggles with the first letter of wordle today and only got it on the final attempt.
Very cold here this morning but sunny. Hoping the washing will dry on the line.
Starting the morning at the hospital with DD who is having a 24hr ECG monitor fitted so I’m currently sat in the waiting room.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/10/2024 09:18

Oh, I had to have that, too, Petal. Hope things are ok. 🩷
Peridot, remembered that it would be possible to see northern lights tonight. Got a few pics standing on deck in pj's in 8c temp. 😂🥶

Gorgeous photos!

SpiritOfEdna · 11/10/2024 11:15

my goodness petalpower hope that goes well.

Lovely photos. Missed the Northern Lights as had a very early night, maybe will try tonight 😭 Another wordle-er here, done first thing before anything 😄
I have been up since 5am so will crash at some point later 😃

  • a batch of air fryer granola made
  • ten mins of sanding done
  • washing machine full of bedding that SpiritDoggo has gone mad jumping over covered in mud. She needs another bath.
  • coffee pods recycled and the coffee dregs chucked on the plants
  • plants to be watered
  • floors to be cleaned
...and then crash, that's all for today, have a good one, SoE
FourSeasonsLobelia · 11/10/2024 11:23

Oh I missed your post @petalpower . I hope things goes well. x

WinterFrog · 11/10/2024 12:50

I hope DD is ok @petalpower You have you hands more than full. My best wishes to you and yours!
That sky is gorgeous @Mumtobabyhavoc
Oh @SpiritOfEdna dogs do love their zoomies don't they, specially when they are muddy! We are currently dog free, and I long for another one day, but I don't miss the endless grot. If I had all the time and no small children about, I'd love a border collie.

Ah, wordle. I too got it by the skin of my teeth, with all but the first letter correct from my 3rd try. So many options and I may have cheated by asking DH, who also did it in 6. As I had two options. If you can't win fairly, cheat, is today's motto. I don't normally 😇
I do wordle, connections, easy sudoko and tiles every morning before I am fit to do anything else.
Thanks for the link @Peridot1 I've joined in previously but not in this name incarnation.
Love the new name @FourSeasonsLobelia I like your style!

Best wishes to all regulars and lurkers 💐

Peridot1 · 11/10/2024 13:10

Lovely pics @Mumtobabyhavoc. I saw online last night that the northern lights were visible and I would have loved to have seen them but I was far too tired. Maybe tonight!

Hope DD is ok @petalpower.

petalpower · 11/10/2024 17:15

Thank you for your kind words about DD. My life feels like a bit of a car crash at the moment as my dad is also in hospital (not the same as this morning’s!) with sepsis. I have a long term cardiac condition with a strong genetic link and DD is having baseline tests at the moment as she is showing early signs. Great excitement that we were in and out of the hospital within 18 minutes according to the car park machine so got free parking as it was under half an hour. Little wins!!
Anyway, back to the mundane things of life:

  • hospital visit✔️
  • dog meds picked up from vet ✔️
  • plastic and textile cycling dropped off ✔️
  • greengrocers and butchers trip ✔️
  • online meeting with financial advisor ✔️
  • friends x2 contacted to reschedule get togethers that had to be cancelled recently ✔️
  • yearly cardiac tests requested through GP for me ✔️
  • vets contacted about monthly health plan for both dogs ✔️
There is wine in the fridge, pizza dough in the bread maker and a fire lit in the wood burner so that’s all I’m going to achieve for today I think. Enjoy your evening everyone 🍷
